Chester 6.5 (mostly good, some very poor bits though) Davies 5.5 (very good until that awful mistake) Cashin 7.5 (decent showing) Mendez-Laing 6 (put in a shift but kept thinking he could run through multiple opponents. He was wrong!) Smith 7 (showed his ability and experience) Sibley 5 (dire; possibly 5 is too high) Bird 6 (some good bits and pieces but not enough to affect the result) Barkhuizen 5 (see Sibley) Forsyth 5.5 (not enough time to affect the game) Dobbin 6 (willing runner as always) McGoldrick 5.5 (didn’t really get into it - not sure about his “foul” for the pen) Osula 5.5 (ineffective on the night) Hourihane 5.5 (see Forsyth) Thompson 6 (little time but actually did ok in his cameo) @Ellafella he’s not on the list at the moment ? Chester 7 Reliable Davies 5 Mistake led to their goal. Starting to occur frequently. Has age caught up? Cashin 8.5 MotM Pure poetry for 90 minutes. a Betjeman amongst mere doggerelists. Mendez-Laing 7.5 The pistons ran true for 65 minutes then started to mis-fire as the petrol ran low. Smith 6.5 Added sufficient grist but declined visibly on 65 minutes. Sibley 7 Thorny but couldn't find a way through. Bird ? 7 Scrapped and battled in a tight midfield. Barkhuizen 6 Lots of industry not enough guile Forsyth 6 ; 10 minute cameo Dobbin 6 Huffed and puffed but mostly snuffed (out). {This is doggerel} McGoldrick 5 Write out 1,000 times "I must not do a centre-forward's tackle in our own box". Osula 6 Well marshalled by defending tractors Hourihane 6 Failed to have much of a controlling impact. Thompson 6 Battled for last 10 minutes Scrappy, fast-paced, kick-an-rush, and a fair result. A good marker for where we are - competitive but a work in progress. We exerted negligible control and the game was largely pin-ball with the team making the defensive error being the defeated one. Davies 5 Poor mistake for the goal. Cashin 8 Brilliant. Defensive masterclass. Stopped everything. Mendez-Laing 6.5 Not his position but covered well and tried to do bits going forward. Smith 6.5 Looked tidy before tiring Sibley 5.5 Started well but went missing second half. Bird 5 Very poor. Did nothing. Needs to show more as he has the talent. Barkhuizen 4.5 Did nothing all game but give the ball away. Forsyth 6 Didn’t have much time to make an impact. Dobbin 6 Some good runs but little service. McGoldrick 5.5 Didn’t really effect the game much. Osula 5.5 We had zero attacking threat but needs to hold it up a bit better. Hourihane 5.5 Not much time to do much. Otherwise, had little to do. Chester 6.5. Steady enough against quick forwards. Davies. 5 Bad mistake. Looked edgy on the ball too. Cashin. 8. MOTM Mendez-Laing. 7. Put in a good shift without being at his most effective. Smith. 7.5. Gave us some bite in midfield. Lucky to still have two legs intact after malicious Evans tackle. Sibley. 5. Started bright but faded badly even before HT. Couldn't do anything right by the end. Bird. 5.5. A bit like Sibbo - became peripheral after a good first half. Barkhuizen. 4. Had a 'mare. Dobbin. 6. Plenty of good intent but touch was off. Osula. 6. Ball wouldn't stick for him. A game for Collins last night. Hourihane. 6. Couldn't work any magic in brief time on the pitch. McGoldrick 6. As Hourihane. Unlucky to concede the penalty as player dived over his knee. Forsyth 5.5. Dreadful passing and crossing during brief cameo. Thompson 6. Buzzed around effectively. Some scores inevitably affected by frantic nature of our approach after their goal when, for all the undoubted effort, the poise wasn't there to take advantage of Horsey nerves. Good pen save Chester 6.5 - competent Davies 5 - fine but turned a forgettable 0-0 into a loss Cashin 7.5 - very good as always Mendez-Laing 6 - average, not his fault. Wasted as a wing back when we are playing good teams Smith 7 - good performance, probably what we were missing in midfield under Rosenior Sibley 5 - started well but frustrating. Not really sure what position he was playing at the end. Bird 6 - average. Lack of touches speaks volumes about how we played or looked to play. Barkhuizen 5 - rubbish, not his fault. Forsyth 5.5 - remember him giving away a free kick in the 95th minute which was so dumb it made me turn my TV off Dobbin 5.5 - flatters to deceive McGoldrick 5.5 - didn’t do much, silly challenge for the penalty Osula 5.5 - reminds me of a hopefully slightly better Conor Sammon.
