Allsop 7 - clean sheet obviously, good save late on & great positioning behind our CBs. Did make a couple of poor passes that PNE nearly punished us for though

Ebosele 7.5 - defensively was tenacious although sometimes out of position. Going forward looked a real threat (one fantastic run & shot late first half) but going down too easily

Buchanan 6.5 - steady performance, didn't get forward as much as usual although Shinnie was often on his wing

Jagielka 8.5 MOM - fantastic display both defensively & with the ball. How on earth we got this guy on a free for £4.5k a week, I'll never know

Davies 8 - also fantastic. Might just be me but he seems more comfortable on the ball, including one classy saunter into midfield first half ending with a good pass into the front men

Bird 7 - steady from Max today. Usual class on the ball & unheralded defensive work. Is staying central which suits him much better than drifting to the wing to make space

Shinnie 8 - love his attitude but not normally Shinnie's biggest fan - would concede he was very good today though. Plenty of marauding runs through PNE & his positioning (often left side) suited him a lot better

Knight 6.5 - hard working but struggling to make an impact in that final 3rd. He's not a right sided AM & think we have players in the squad better suited to that role

Morrison 6.5 - one fantastic shot first half & neat interplay in midfield but feel he's capable of much better. Would like to see him further forward leaving Bird to play DCM - he's got the quality to create & hurt teams but that's difficult coming from so deep

Lawrence 6 - like Morrison, capable of much better. The odd flash (think it was him who hit the bar second half?) but not getting into the box enough for crosses from opposite side or linking up enough with other front players. Worked hard to be fair

Sibley 4.5 - playing as the furthest man forward simply isn't his game. Struggled to hold the ball & bit disappointed by his workrate in closing down. Offered very little. Would like him to work on his first touch also.

Baldock - can't really score as he wasn't on that long. Same with Kazim

Allsop…………..7 Made 2 important saves. A tad relaxed on a couple of play outs that nearly went wrong.

Ebosele……….8. Has to play next game. 2 mazey runs which were stunning & should’ve led to goals. Also won a penalty which wasn’t given.

Buchanan…….7. Stylish and solid. Good cross deliveries which went close.

Jagielka……….8. The guy is a 12ft high granite wall, with barbed wire on top.

Davies………….8 The guy is a 12ft high iron gate. Padlocked. Headed against the bar 2nd half.

Bird…………….7. Patrolled and kept the ball moving with neat & intricate, knitted passes out of defence. Like Pirlo with a Burton accent me duck.

Shinnie……..9. Like a piranha fish. Legally took chunks out of Preston with his bar steward-like tackles and got forward with energy.

Knight………..7. Perpetual machinery.

Morrison…….6. Threaded & weaved. 3 testing shots, which flashed wide or were saved.

Lawrence……7. Worked hard. 1 good shot. Needs to do a bit more to inspire.

Baldock………5 Went off with a nose bleed, forgot his PE kit or had a note off his ma to say he’d got a headache.

Allsop - 7.5 good saves, good hands, bit scary with the ball at his feet

Ebosele - 7.5 love watching him play, that run at the end of the first half....

Buchanan - 7 solid down the left

Jagielka - 8.5 Him and Curt....

Davies - 8.5 Him and Jags...

Bird - 6.5 nice and steady

Shinnie - 8 got round the pitch with ferocious ferocity

Knight - 6 lots of energy, could do with a goal

Morrison - 7.5 his importance to us is huge, drifting round the pitch picking it up and moving it on. He's the reason we're so much better in possession this season.

Lawrence 6  - Good enough, need a bit more. Like a goal or two. Or three.

Baldock 5 - Injured

Sibley 4 - Lost

Rooney said it was a broken nose. I guess that means he'll be out for a couple of games.

Yes @Crewton; I was being harshly and unfairly critical of Baldock purely for comic effect. It was a badly busted nose and really tough luck on him. He might be back for Luton though; the physio put his nose back on the pitch - as it were - I would imagine the late great Gordon Guthrie would have done the same with his magic sponge and a quick manipulation to Baldock's face and the absence of Baldock did further unbalance our already blunt attack, but Baldock's harrying of defenders was missed once he was off.

Accidentally found himself in the opposition penalty area and got a nosebleed.

So high up, he got giddy and the air pressure burst the blood vessels in his nose. I gather he was later sent into the decompression chamber at Moor Farm for 9 hours. ?
