Has it increased? Has the value of his other businesses increased? I don't know, I just remember he was losing a big amount every month through DCFC about 4 years ago way before there was public talk of selling.

According to the Times rich list it has. I've no idea how accurate that is, hence the 'if' in the post.

The point is that if Mel's personal fortune has increased in the last couple of years, it is sustainable. He's got more coming in than he's spending on the club. In this case, he's choosing to sell rather than needing to sell.

Of course he is choosing, he bought the club with the intention of selling, the only thing is he envisaged was, this being in the PL and he expected to be working away with a big ROI. He is a businessman, he has now decided the time is right to stop putting money into the club and put it somewhere else or keep it in the bank.

They'll be negative interest rates soon so not sure what he's going to gain by keeping his money in the bank.

He needs to take some responsibility and get a grip back on the club. Whether he likes it or not, he’s still currently the owner of Derby County - so until such a time when he finds a genuine buyer for the club, the payment of players wages remains his responsibility. These BZG clowns are certainly not a genuine buyer for the club.

He clearly doesn’t want to put any more money into the club, and I totally understand that, considering the amount he’s already invested. But he’s got to keep funding the club while it’s still under his control. Right now it feels a bit like he’s given up and left us to die. Hopefully that isn’t the case, but we need a proper statement to clear up what the hell is going on.

Pretty sure that Mel goes by the name of Richard246.
Either that, or American Ram.

Maybe it’s all tied up in investments etc and not sitting in his bank?

It's possible but unlikely. It would be incompetent for him to not ensure sufficient liquidity to meet his commitments, especially when starving the club of cash flow would likely reduce the value of his holding.
