Heavy fixture list but I struggle to see how you can make any changes from Birmingham.

There is, but we have a week break before a cup game, followed by another weeks break. Assuming we will make changes next weekend, it should allow us to keep the same players in the team for today

Our record against sheff weds over the last 25 years is:

W19 D13 L4

No pressure Wayne but we almost never get beat by Sheff Weds. Lose today and I think you're gonna have to resign.

Rooney Out!?

Not on your sweet bippy!

BTW......lose this one and Gumps are in the drop zone. Every cloud....

Many, many things, but I don't think the Sheffield Weds matchday thread is a good place to talk in depth about a pub management chain!

Corporate bankers who don't care one jot about their actual product.

Same basis as not buying Warburton bread products?

I've got no vested interest in who makes my bread tbh.

There aren't exactly a load of independent bakeries making vastly superior products I could support instead.

I strongly suspect the good townsfolk of Belper are sharpening their pitchforks for you my friend.  Disrespect of artisanal bakeries shall not be tolerated.

Bannan isn't suspended as the booking this week came after the 19 game cut-off point.

There also seems to be some confusion as to whether it was his 4th or 5th booking anyway, according to Owls Talk.

Their best player by a mile.

Thought Bannan picked up a silly yellow walking off the pitch involving a bit of handbags with another player?

Could’ve done with him suspended really.  Still, I need to stop worrying about opposing players I suppose.  We shouldn’t fear any team the way we’re playing.

Apparently, the Hillsborough pitch is awful at the minute, so that could play some part (I'm expecting an aerial bombardment)... if that's the case the surface wouldn't suit a passing game, so either give it to Kaz to hold up or knock it past their (pretty slow) back three for Jozwiak and Sibbo to chase.

yeah we can adjust to a bad pitch but it's not good for us especially since the Wendies are used to it.  It's a leveller which as the stronger team we don't want    Think this will be a lot tighter than B'ham

Must be some strange methods they've got if they use pitchforks instead of knives & other loaf slicing mechanisms, I'm intrigued!

Seriously though, I know how good Belper high street is, and I'd definitely use them if I lived there rather than the Morrisons or B&M

Sheffield Wednesday Vs Derby County
Friday 1st January 17:30 Kick Off

Well that was a bit good, wasn't it! After the injustices of the Preston game, a resurgent Rams side look to have turned the corner in no uncertain terms and in some style too. With Birmingham firmly put in their place, the lads get a 2 day break before they're on their travels again, this time to Sheffield Wednesday whom, at time of writing, are without a manager having just sacked Tony Pulis.

Close to home, an in-house DCFC Fans poll now shows pretty such unanimous support for Wazza too, so it's all rosy in our garden all of a sudden, isn't it! Come on, you can say it! I've eaten my humble pie after all!

Rams form aside, a super handy set of results tonight. Many of us fancied our chances of leapfrogging both Rotherham and the Gumps with a win tonight and of course the lads delivered in style whilst the others mobs duly did not. A bad night for the fancied sides of the division makes things all the more interesting. And having been 3 bottom when I last checked the form table, the picture now makes for rather nicer viewing:

Whilst the most recent jolt of improvement has taken some of us by surprise, it appears there's one man who most certainly saw it coming. A bullish Rooney commented after tonight's game;

"That performance has been coming over the last few weeks. I'm delighted for the players. I'm starting to see a team that believe in themselves. They have been putting in good performances.

"The results have been getting better, and even though we lost against Preston, the performance was excellent. You can see the confidence growing. They deserve that for the work they have put in.

"I'm not worried. We've got a lot of quality and hopefully with a few players coming in January, we can iron out some of the cracks and take us to that next level."

So what next? Hard to see too many changes really. Wazza seems happy to alternate Buchanan and Fozzy and both appear to be flourishing under his guidance. Apparently Jordon is on the naughty step, but Sibbo was excellent tonight so Jordon will need to be cleaning up his act if reports of his misdemeanours are on the mark. Other than that, the team pretty much picks itself. There seemed to be plenty of energy tonight though it's possible that Wazza may see fit to rest one or two if legs are understandably growing heavy. If not, I think we'll line up pretty much as we did tonight.

In the absence of any need for tactical analysis and guesses, I'll leave you lot with some fun facts about Sheffield instead:

  • There's a National Park in the city
  • It hosts the world's oldest football club
  • Sheffield also has the world's oldest football ground
  • The city has four trees for every person
  • The Crucible Theatre is cursed
  • The highest point in Sheffield is 550 metres
  • It has been inhabited for millennia
  • Sheffield has its own Walk of Fame

Se you Friday chaps!

A superb read. You've re-set the bar for the pre-match. Great stuff.

If we play our A game, we will blow them out the water, our midfield 3 will be to strong for Wednesday, win this and we can start looking up the table.

Oh and Happy New Year to all Rams fans on the forum.

Let's hope we are all smiling come, 7.20pm tonight.
