And so did Cocu and now Rooney, but you know better right?

You are saying we should trust the staff's judgement on freezing Te Wierik out, but wouldn't they have been part of the same staff who identified him in the first place and didn't object to his signing or spot the supposed red flags that make him unsuitable for the division?

The Eredivisie is a poor league, is it? So poor that it has played a part in the evolution of top players like Suarez, Wijnaldum, van Dijk, Alderweireld, Mertens and countless others. Even some of our old favourites such as Mason Mount.

Te Wierik has over 200 games in the Eredivisie to his name. Just because those games were for Heracles and Groningen doesn't necessarily mean it is indicative of his quality as a player. There are so many examples of very good players playing for small or medium sized clubs, or only reaching a very high level later in their career.

But if Rooney and co. are thinking the same as yourself and won't even put him in a squad of 20, Te Wierik might as well catch the next flight to Amsterdam.

Bielik is such a good player; great defending there. Its really rare a player in this league looks up to their big price tag but I've seen nothing from him to suggest he's not worth the £8-10m we paid for him and then some.

Yes, because there is only so much you can judge on watching clips. You have to see him train and see him in matches.

The operative word ''played a part'' they all left at a young age to go play in a better league, the ones that are left at 28 tend to be left for a reason.

Well it just clearly is though isn't it? If he was good, why did PSV/Ajax not take a punt on him?

I think he's struggled to settle but circumstances (with the team not winning games) have meant that neither manager had the luxury of being able to give him a run of games to find his feet. I doubt Cocu would have signed him if he thought he was crap and Rooney has gone for experience so we don't know whether he rates him or not. The way a large number on here write players off after a couple of games (or in some cases before they've even kicked a ball) is pretty pathetic - and I'd suggest you look at all the praise there's recently been for CKR if you want an example - most of those joining the CKR fanclub had already written him off as a waste of a shirt before he'd played for us.....
