Last time i saw blackman - rotherham away, last game of the the season before last - he looked totally drained of confidence. He was bricking it whenever he received the ball in case he made a mistake and the derby fans turned on him. If we are going to get anything from him then we have to rebuild his confidence. chris martin has been discarded and recalled twice. His confidence will have taken a dip too. Just put him back in his old role. Let him play his game. Don't pull him apart because he isn't something else. Let him get his confidence back and he will score goals again. I still think 4132 or 4141 suits the players we have. We could play the england formation of 532 / 352 if we can solve the wing back selection. However......if butterfield plays then play him in a more advanced role. Not pratting around with the centre halves, but up the pitch in an attacking midfield role. Then we might just see the player we signed. Same with bryson. Put him in his attacking midfield role and he will deliver short term. Derby have loads of potential holding midfielders but playing two is excessively defensive. Choose between huddlestone, Thorne and ledley. We can afford to release one of the three. Hanson probably should revert to centre back where he started. We are short of a central defender. If we play three at the back we have limited cover. Assume forsyth, davies, keogh plus......pearce and....and? .....has to be hanson and wisdom. We've got the players already. No need for doom and gloom. They can't all play but if we pick the best and be prepared to sell a couple of fringe players then we can restore the old guard and have room to selectively introduce elsnik, Thomas, lowe and others coming through.
