@loweman2 - did you ever see The Pistols? I never got the chance. Managed to see The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers, The Ramones, The Jam (lots of times) The Skids, The Undertones. UK Subs, The Dickies, Gang of Four and Joy Division all between 78 amd about 81 or 82, but never the Pistols.

My best friend over here is in a punk band and they opened for The Damned last year. So gutted I couldn't go. He said Vanian's voice is as good as ever and they were amazing.

Seen most of them , except The Ramones, Joy Division & The Sex Pistols. Seen Matlock perform with Kirk Brandon and others in Dead Man Walking in Derby and I'm off to see Lydon in Public Image Ltd in Aberdeen in October.

gosh, brings back memories.  Saw Eddy and the hot rods, boomtown rats, the Adverts around that time also.  I've got the Dickies white 10" single (sound of silence?) somewhere.  Derby got a fair number of events in those days.  Curved Air with  stu copeland (police) on drums lots of other great artists

Seems like a good time to drop this one out especially with the heading of the thread, it will be a few more weeks yet, aiming for the end of the season to give everybody something to fill the boring weeks in between with !

When it’s ready I will expect a rush of orders ! I am obviously biased but I am really pleased with it, a comprehensive book about every one of our shirts, badges, sponsors and a few juicy bits of gossip and a genuine re write of the history books with he expertise of Andy Ellis and Jason Shardlow.

I'm sad enough to have had and read quite a few of them too but many must be scattered around in the loft or given away as i would struggle to find them.

I really enjoyed Ted McMinn's book. And the Charlie George one.

Eddy Giles, wrote  a few books focusing on the history of the club which were very informative and an interesting read.

Believe he was an editor for the telegraph and as a young lad I was privileged to get to know the man.

I was introduced to him as my mother worked with his wife and ended up doing odd jobs for him helping do his garden. On Discovering i was also an avid Derby fan, living in Stockport i think I rekindled his desire to watch us play and he took me to a few home games at the Base ball ground. we generally  got good seats ,so assumed he had connections with the club, but the coolest thing as a 14 year old was that he gave me the photos from one game that appeared in the national press.

Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago but was a very generous and a proper gentleman .Any one interested in the history of our club should read his books .

If you have this poster and it's original expect to get around 4 grand at auction.  Rarer than a Forest play off final appearance .

Signed by Johnnie Sid Paul and Steve ? Or was it still glen Matlock then before Sid ?

Matlock first .  Sid Vicious is the lasting image of the Pistols but barely played a note,  his mum lived in Swadlincote.

The poster is very rare .  I only know of three existing, its worth this much signed by no-one ,  It's amazing how much some poster's go for- a recent Jefferson Airplane one at the marquee sold for about 12 k .  Original Factory one's for Joy Division about 4-8 k .

I enjoyed the Steve Bloomer book.

The best bit was when he was interned in Germany during the 1st war. Someone kept a diary, from memory, one entry was something like .. “The Stables played the Canteen in a game of association football, the Stables won 11-0, helped no doubt, in part, by having Steve Bloomer of Derby County and England in their team”
