Yeah there you go: www.owlstalk.co.uk

Ha, love the post saying wasnt a red card because it was only the 4th minute and because loovens is captain he should have just had a word with him.

A few posts claiming the ref cost the the game, but they dont mention the fact they got away with decisions when lawrence was fouled when he hit the post and their keeper appeared to handle outside the area when keogh was through.

Hopefully they will be brought down a peg or two having a poor season. They seem to think they're a huge club but are sitting in the shadow of their smaller neighbours, which is great. Can't stand their manager, such a whingeing b****** and it's always someone else's fault (usually the ref) when they lose.

Got to agree here with Vulcan, seen lots of post match interviews when the Owls don't win and he blames the ref.

They're a season behind us. Gone down the route of signing high wages big championship players and Jacob Butterfield on loan. It isn't working for them and should have let F****tieri go when they could have got a good price for him.

Why is it that keepers can clatter into a striker after he has shot at goal and get away scot free, but every time a striker slides in front of a defender clearing the ball and catches his follow through, gets penalised and a yellow/red card, as did Nugent on Saturday?

Their keeper should have given away a penalty and had a yellow card for following through on Lawrence and then a yellow/red for blocking Keogh's shot outside the box.

I did think Fozzy was lucky to get away with his challenge though.

Keepers get too much protection, just look at the forest away game when he got a free kick having been fouled by his own player.

As I understand it, the ref can no longer give both. He cannot send the player off if he's awarded a penalty.

Loovens?

A referee can still give a penalty and send a player off, as in the Loovens decision.  The advice to referees is (a DOGSO is Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity):

Q10: Is every DOGSO offence in the penalty now only a caution (YC)?

NO – the Law has only changed for those DOGSO offences in the penalty area where the offender makes an attempt to play the ball or challenge an opponent for the ball. The sending-off (RC) remains for: handball holding, pulling and pushing (as these offences are not an attempt to play the ball) making no attempt to play the ball e.g. a deliberate trip an offence when there was no chance/possibility of the ball being played

On that basis you could argue that even if the referee had given a penalty yesterday he wouldn't have had to have sent Scott off on the basis that he was clearly attempting to play the ball
