His hold up play hasnt been that good, he has been getting out muscled when trying to claim long balls and has spent a lot of time on his arse.

wow, this is a pisstake int it? you're joking, arnt you?  about our leading goal scorer for the past 3 season, talisman and current captain. not to mention the only person to score 50 goals for us in the last 25 odd years, maybe even more.

Some other Derby players are playing really well at the same time as Martin. I will repeat what I said to Chris at the Open Training Day. "Chris, you are in a class of your own".

Derby County has a team now that will beat you one way or another. If you double mark one guy, someone else will make you pay. This is what happens when nearly everyone is having a good season and the subs are also excellent.

We should have a thread like this for every player that hasn't scored enough lately.

How about chris Martin? Can't hit a barn door at the minute.

Derby County’s Andreas Weimann has been named on the shortlist for the PFA Fans' Player of the Month Award for November in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Austrian forward started in all four of the Rams’ league matches during the month, scoring twice, against Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, and also produced a number of lively displays.

The Championship shortlist is as follows: Alex Mowatt (Leeds), Andre Gray (Burnley), Andreas Weimann (Derby), Brett Pitman (Ipswich), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich), David Marshall (Cardiff), Elliott Bennett (Bristol City), Johnnie Jackson (Charlton), Lucas Joao (Sheffield Wednesday), Mohamed Diame (Hull), Ross McCormack (Fulham) and Sam Clucas (Hull).

Every month, throughout the English football season, fans will have the opportunity to vote on SkySports.com for who they think has been the best player in each of the Barclays Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two, after Sky Sports teamed up with the PFA to be the digital platform for the Awards.

Before the vote opens each month, an expert panel will produce a shortlist of contenders. Fans will then be able to vote for the player they think deserves the award.

One voting fan in each division, who is a resident in the UK or Ireland, will win the chance (subject to terms and conditions) to meet and present the award to each PFA Fans' Player of the Month. And that's not all - one of the winners will join the experts on the following month's shortlisting panel.

The panel includes Sky Sports football pundits Paul Merson, Ian Holloway and Peter Beagrie. That trio will be joined by Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters Federation, as well as the winning fan from each month.

The winner will be announced after the round of fixtures starting on December 8th.

Thought he was quality vs Villarreal, glad he's showing it a bit more now he's got a run in the team. Don't forget he's playing in the position where Villa fans said he was useless, and much better down the middle.

If Villa thought he was useless with the state of some of their players, then maybe he's just seriously upped his game since he got here.

Villa fans thought that, everyone neutral and pundits etc. were very surprised they let him go. Very surprised.

Not sure how much you can listen to Villa fans after their recent seasons, the state of Derby fan's opinions of some of our players during the end of the McClaren tenure was toxic. Anger at a teams performance can bias you negatively towards specific players.

I'm still sat here scratching my head as to why we signed him...

I'm pretty sure the original thought was to have two strikers, some kind of 4-4-2. That's why we signed him and Bent. Pre-season friendlies showed that it didn't work out, team just didn't fit to it. So he is playing out of position and Bent is not playing at all.

At least that's how I see it.
