Miggins got a reaction from Brammie Steve in Match Thread: Carlisle United (h)
So many thoughts and emotions at the moment.
I went into Derby to watch the huge, noisy, smoky crowd as they wended their way through the town. Flags galore and a positive, good-natured feel to the occasion. I was excited but dreadfully apprehensive about the final score. The energy from the crowd just had to lift the team and carry them over the line... surely? What could possibly go wrong?🤔
I listened to the match on Radio Derby. Once we had scored 2 goals I started to relax and enjoy the game a bit more.
When our lovely Max Bird went off I felt so proud of him, so sad to see him leave us and worried in case he was about to regret his decision to leave.
It wasn't one of our greatest games but it was bound to be a nervy game. Our opposition had nothing to play for and we had everything. Perhaps the players knew that if we won, their holidays in the sun had begun!
So sad that B4 wasn't with us physically to celebrate this wonderful party but I really hope that he is celebrating somewhere. I loved the 'Be More B4' displays round the ground. It reminded us of what a smashing guy he was.
I loved all the scenes of the players after the match, being carried on shoulders, celebrating with families. Their relief was palpable and so well deserved. Well done to them all for achieving this promotion and well done to every single member of staff connected with the club.
I felt proud of Paul Warne for what he has achieved. He is a nice guy and I like him. Whether or not he can take us all the way, I am grateful for what he has done so far, for his passion for the club and for his care of the players. I felt very happy for him today. He has brought a good ethos to our club which I'm sure was part of David Clowes plan.
After everything we have been through over the last 2 years, the sadness, the uncertainty, the anger, we have achieved promotion and tonight Derby fans will go to bed feeling very drunk, ecstatic, full of positivity for next season or may be apprehensive. I think our club is in good hands and I am so grateful for David Clowes for getting us to this place. He loves this club and I am so grateful and reassured that he will not take any risks with this club which he loves as much as we do.
Sleep well tonight, fellow rams. Like I said, it has been a day of so many emotions, but tonight is joyous and a time for some fizzy!! X

Big thank you to mozza for organizing the League
It's easy this prediction thing, just trust your Rams bias and go for a win more often than not (not sure that applies to next season) keep positive and above all

Many thanks @mozza for running this completion again, in view of the long commitment   requirements involved. I may be wrong, but this season must have had close to a record number of participants as well.
Congratulations to @leroyoftheroverson his victory with an impressive winning margin - no mean feat.
As for myself, I (modestly!) have now achieved the full set of podium finishes, and also a sixth place, in the nine seasons since winning in 2015/2016.
Enjoy the summer everyone and look forward to resuming “combat “ next season.

After numerous seasons in the top few places, Division 1 mediocrity this time round is somehting I simply cannot accept.
I will now consider my options

Warne has openly spoken about the targets he was given and he’s hit major ones of achieving record points and promotion. The will always be niggles in managerial performance but there doesn’t seem any reason to change PW’s contract at the moment. With the step to the championship, summer transfers, and subsequent changes to team dynamics, it would be good to keep the consistency in management.

He has proved so far he could do with Derby in League One what he did at Rotherham.
He now needs to prove he can do better in the Championship with a bigger club and more resources.
I would imagine a contract extension will only follow if the latter is proven or at least looks likely.

Clowes is a smart businessperson. A new deal will come but only when Warne has exceeded expectations. Say it’s this time next year and we are comfortably safe.
Warne has two years to run on his current deal, so surely you just let things play out.
Dealing with the manager’s future would be a needless distraction at this point. It should be a case of all eyes and all minds on building the best possible playing squad we can.

If I were Clowes I’d be leaving Warne (and his staff’s) contract as is. Warne probably also content with that. There’s still 2 years to run, probably had some sort of bonus or % increase written in should he achieve promotion. Wait and see how we go and if there’s a need to discuss a new deal it can happen later in the next season.

My take on B4 as a poster, He is NEVER WRONG, If we pointed out his mistakes he'd come back with an answer, Not the right answer but an answer, We'd correct him, But No...he aint having it still more answers, It got to the stage where me/some would just give in, His enthusiasm was infectious, His positivity was overpowering, His loyalty was honourable, He never got upset with posters...he is one of a kind.
Scraves, Flanges, The food down his shirts, The pain in his foot, Losing his job at the Cinema...he just kept going, Even someone like me felt an affection for him...God bless him 😉

Your stats are indeed correct & proves what we already knew about the respective supporter base of both clubs.
I wanted to expand the idea a little further to the crowd numbers in the third tier for any team matching the 'what on earth are they doing at that level' criteria, beginning with Manchester City who dropped into then Division 1 for 1998-99. It also makes a nice 25 year stint for comparison with the crowds Derby have averaged in our 2 year stint down here. Full table below which shows just how loyal this fanbase have been - only Sunderland & Man City pip us on average crowds and of course, City were only down at this level for one season, we've had two.
I think it also starkly illustrates the gap in support between Derby & our local competition. When the going got really tough, we showed up in far greater numbers - true measure of support, true measure of loyalty.

What a weekend. just on Cloud 9 ! Great to see the nod to B4 and thinking about how much joy he'd have had at how things turned out. I never met him in person but feel that through those who did, that I now have some measure of the guy.
It just set me thinking though (and without wishing to put any kind of dampener on things) about all the other now departed Rams fans who never got to see us make the step back up again, including my Mum who we lost before Christmas - she was a season ticket holder of many decades who drove us to away games before I could drive. It's not a sad thought though, she'd have been absolutely buzzing today and would have loved all the scenes at the end. 🙂🐏 COYR

In London, paying the little niece a visit before flying back tomorrow. Still in celebration mode.
I’d long since resigned myself to missing the promotion party. Truthfully, I’d have been more gutted than happy if I’d missed it. To be able to dance the night away with my mates after we’ve shared so much disappointment over the years is something I’ll never forget.
    Football is bloody beautiful.

Wow!!! What a day!! What a weekend!! I turned 40 on Thursday and this has been the ultimate present. On the pitch with my wife (who hates football but wore the Derby shirt I presented to her in my wedding speech 9 years ago) and my kids and my folks creating memories. I’m hoping it will be a day my daughters never forget!!
Yes the performance was s****!!! But the result was important and was never in doubt!! Warne has made this team ruthless in both boxes and that’s why we’ve got up. What I love is the culture and togetherness he and David Clowes have built. I’ve never wanted a manager to succeed more than Warne. He’s genuine he cares he’s a good bloke and he puts in the hours and gives his all for the club. John Gregory for example, as an ex legendary player and prominent manager at the time I thought he was going to be our saviour, he wasn’t and his b******* interviews just left you feeling fobbed off.
The togetherness from Admin is back. This group of players and staff is amazing and I’ll have fond memories of them and of yesterday until the day I die!! Some of them will move on but I back this group to recruit more amazing characters with more quality for the next chapter!!
We’re back!!!! B4 will be looking down and a proud man right now!!!

Regarding the two minutes not played at the end, my guess is that the ref got the word in his ear that the game at Posh had ended and there was therefore nothing to be gained by playing on. Getting the players off safely (and yourself obviously ref!) was the priority.

Great day that will live long in the memory.  Early goal settled the nerves and even though we lost our way a bit in the middle of the 1st half, they never looked like scoring.  I don’t really remember Wildsmith being troubled other than the tip over the bar.
Really nice that Bird got his standing ovation and hugs from the players as he went off.  Cash-in ran half the length of the pitch to hug him.  Adams was immense and my MOTM.  He was everywhere.  A bit like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben - as if by magic, Adams appeared (one for the over 40s!!).  And David Clowes got his well deserved moment too.
It’s nice to read all of tweets from ex-players today, keep posting them.

I have to put you right about the cinema. He didn’t lose his job but he had to go back to work despite having problems with his foot. Unfortunately, someone hacked his Facebook and changed his job details from Usher to former Usher. We think it may have been someone he knew for this reason. This really upset him as he was worried about his job at the time. It is partly the reason his posting on here slowed down as he had become worried about people accessing his accounts. I didnt find out about this until after he died. Some people can be very cruel.
