Reg got injured during that game. Solly went in goal during the second half.
I seem to recall that Alan Durban scored a couple, but it was a long time ago so my memory perhaps can't be trusted too much.
I agree it was a long time ago. I remember O'Hare playing in goal, but I couldn't remember it being that game.

Beating Darlington 5-4 in the League Cup.....1967 I think?
I was stood on the Normanton Terrace. Reg Matthews sneaking a puff of his cigarette whenever he got the chance lol

Was that a League Cup replay? I remember going to Goodison for a cup match Everton v Derby long before I became a Rams fan and was amazed by the noise made by the visiting fans.
Was that 1968 after we had beaten Chelsea in the previous round?
0-0 and we beat them 1-0 back at the BBG
I remember they gave us bean bag type cushions to sit on and we all threw them on to the Everton pitch at the end of the game.
I remember Dave Mackay taking one of their players out with a shove of his chest. I think it was either Kendall or Royle but not sure.
How Dave wasn't sent off I don't know lol

My dad was at that game, he is 97 and in a residential home now. Last year we had to sort the house out and found his Benfica pennant in a drawer, its in my drawer now☺
What a wonderful find. I may have sat and had a pint with your dad that day? Who knows?

1973. Benfica away....0-0. Fantastic day in the pubs of Lisbon in the sun. The game was memorable because the floodlights went out and I was hoping it would get called off so I could come back again the following week lol

The new main stand that nearly bankrupted them set back about 30 yards from the pitch, the rest of the stadium crumbling. I've never been so cold in my life. I thought I was going to lose my toes.
I remember there was a street between the new stand being built and the actual ground. 80s sometimes I think?

As has already been mentioned. My favourite ever game was against Chelsea in the League Cup in 1968.
The ground was rocking that night with the noise.

Despite a very wet winter we continue drowning the pitch at pre game and half time, there was a few losing their footing in the first half against Bolton, some in the area Gayle pulled up. I’m hoping this practise whatever the reason is not a contributory factor to injuries.
Sir Brian used to soak the BBG mud. It worked for us then.

A pupil in year 12 at Brookfield School in Chesterfield is doing an extended project qualification on football finance. As part of this he is doing a survey. I hope some of you will help the lad out. I know his name but, as he's a minor, I won't be publishing it.
Blimey still sending them down the mines at age 12?

Watched most of their shows and I'm going to miss them.
I loved the way they always said "My, that's one of the nicest things I've ever tasted". They seemed to love everything they ate.

FWIW, I think Gayle would be a good signing.
It may be a while back, but he's shown that he can score goals in the Championship, he's played in the Prem, the Conference North and League Two, so he should know how to scrap in League One. As a couple of posters have pointed out already, the success of old b*ggers like Rhodes, Chris Martin, McGoldrick and Collins in L1 shows how valuable that experience is. He probably hung around at Newcastle for too long (but on good money, who wouldn't?) and has had injury problems, but we just need him to be a pro for 13 games and keep opposition defenders thinking. Gayle's game seems to be good positioning and finishing in the box, pouncing on second balls, so as long we can create chances, he should be able to finish.
The only thing that counts against Gayle is he's a tiddler at 5"9', so may struggle with 100 lofted crosses a game. He's certainly not a Collins clone. However, his WBA highlights reel shows he's actually decent when he has a free/diving header. Plus, he can take a free kick.I'm 5ft 9ins. I've never been called a tiddler 😂

Interesting he says Bradley could do a job up top in the short term if needed 😏
If they play Bradley, who will do the commentating on the game?

VAR should only be used for penalty decisions.
Offside should be the referee's call and VAR should not be used to determine if a player is offside by a finger nail.
Blue cards are yet another complication added to the game.
Football has survived fine for over 140 years and does not need any more stupid ideas being introduced
