The financial difference between being In the champ and league 1, especially with the new tv deal from next season will outweigh the need for a resale value. Get out the league by any means necessary (within budget etc).

Respect this view, but we said this during our spending spree trying to get to the prem. Obviously it would depend on the fee, if we can get him for a reasonable price then I agree, but judging by the fact he's still there it's reasonable to expect he'll cost a good amount.

    Yeah he’s a massive no go 🤣

These sort of attitudes are what got us in this mess in the first place, he's 30 and the club will get nothing for him in the end. He could bang 30 in this season and we don't go up, then what? Clowes is shrewd enough to know that's a no go whilst we are in League 1, no way he spends a substantial sum on him judging by the sensible business we've seen so far.

  3. Clarke-Harris is a no go for me, good striker but 30 years old, why spend all that money on him? You could argue he might get us up, but heavy spending with that same logic is what's got us here in the first place.

There is no plausible situation in which a League 1 club should be spending heavily on a player they have no realistic chance of getting any return on.

  4. I know the academy is in a rough spot at the moment, but maybe it could provide that pace we so desperately need. Brown is reasonably quick from what I've seen of him (although that's not much tbf), Robinson looks tidy, it's time we started using our expensive production line.

Obviously it's easy to argue that they are not ready, they might not be and it might not work, but we said that about Ebiowei, Cashin, Ebosele etc (who would likely never had got that chance if it wasn't for admin). We are looking for a striker, give Brown a go, worst case it doesn't work and we are back to where we are now.

Haven’t we got a mix of youth and experience? Cashin, Bird, Knight, Sibley and Roberts, with White, Rooney and Dobbin chipping in, along with the experienced Fozzy, Conor, NML, Barks, Collins and McGoldrick ?

I'm more talking about players who are at the mid point in their career, most of the younger players you've listed can be a bit lightweight at times (with Cashin and Knight being the exceptions). We are more a lads and dads side than a good mix, but that can be rectified with a few good signings.

  6. I feel the lethargic football we've seen in the last month or so is really a function of the age dynamic in the squad. You just can't expect players in the twilights of their careers to match the level of intensity of sides like Fleetwood and Barnsley. To get out of the league you need a healthy mix with some players in the 25-28 range which we just don't have unfortunately due to the restrictions and whatnot. It's no ones fault really, just the reality we find ourselves in.

We won't go up this year imo and there's absolutely no shame in that, really it's probably better for the club in the long term that we have a year to really get a squad together. Our recruitment next year is going to be absolutely key, we are operating in a restricted space with the EFL plan and so it's vital we get the out of contract players we need.

Just don't get it. Ditto Ryan Reynolds whom waffled on about Wrexhams appeal was having some intrinsic values tied to local communities or something very similar which still doesn't really explain things at all.

Reynolds was inspired by the Sunderland till I die documentary on Netflix interestingly:

Other than a lack of communication this week can someone explain what CK has actually done wrong for so many to turn against him as owner now?

If, like Nixon and now both Sky & the Mirror are reporting, that he has sent the money but it is being held up by AML checks, what more could/can he actually do? It sounds like he tried alternate ways to send the money around the 31st deadline which werent successful so he went back to the original way of sending it last Mon 6th.

Even if he did come out & say something, would the now sceptics have believed it anyway?

Seems to me like other parties are trying to dirty the waters with CK bid and it is working. Ashley is nowhere near being the saviour if like Q statement says his bid was too low to satisfy the EFL. If someone matches or betters CK bid then lets crack on, but so far its been all talk no action from these other interested parties. They all know what the cost is, it cant be any lower, so if you're serious, put up or shut up.

Agree with a lot of this but I must admit I have gone from wanting CK to take the club to being very skeptical.

Its nothing he’s done per say, more the worrying revelations about his companies cash flow. The fact he’s behind on sponsorship payments, and the fact he hasn’t payed his staff in two weeks (allegedly) is really frightening imo. I know he’s said it’s a banking error but still, paying your staff a day a late is a banking error, paying your staff two weeks late sounds like a cash flow issue.

  9. Will be interesting to see how they get on, 4 of their starting 11 are on loan, similar to us in 2019. What I don’t get about VAR is why they don’t check everything, surely the second a player goes down someone at Stockly Park can watch a quick replay to decide if further investigation is needed. Didn’t think the 1st one was a pen but the second is clear as day.

  10. I always see people on social media blaming the stewards in these scenarios but I feel it's a bit unfair. Stewards simply do not get paid enough to put themselves in the way of drugged up football fans who are determined to get onto the pitch. I remember going to Reading away and the steward in front of the stand was about 18, if there had been a pitch invasion he would of stood no chance.

  11. Jozwiak for me, remember watching him in the Forest game (when Waghorn jumped in front of his shot) and thinking he looked quality. Specifically remember one instance where a used three Forest players as training cones near the by-line. No idea what happened after that!

  12. The whole thing about us definitely folding at the end of the season is one of the worst takes I’ve seen in a while. If the club is to be liquidated, it would be liquidated tomorrow. The admins won’t keep us open just to finish the season whilst we are losing money, as doing so is simply taking cash out of creditors pockets for no reason, they’ll just liquidate us as soon as there is no chance of saving the club.

As for Bristol, they are in a very similar position to us in 2016. Even the EFL changing the rules mid season likely won’t help them a great deal. It’s funny that they seem to have incredible foresight when it comes to Derby, yet they are slowly spiralling and they haven’t even realised yet! At least we were lied to, their truth lies in the latest set of accounts.

There is no loyalty in football anymore, that went out the window many years ago.

There hasn't been any loyalty in football for years.

Not asking him to show loyalty though, I get he wants to leave but at least do it in a way that everyone benefits. That’s not loyalty, it’s common decency.

  14. Really disappointed with this one, I know this may be a little controversial, but I’m slightly disappointed in the player as well here.

Now don’t get me wrong, I totally get it, footballs a short career, but Festy knows the score. He knows we won’t receive a penny for developing him, he knows he will be playing for Watford next season, cheating us out of money we desperately need. I don’t see him getting into the Watford squad anyways, especially if they stay up.

It’s not like he’s an ageing journeyman, he would have had a multitude of clubs to choose from in the summer, all of which would have done right by the club and himself. Rooney also mentioned that he hadn’t seemed focused in his last presser, sounds like he’s heads been turned.

Maybe I’m being harsh because I’m upset, but you get my point.

Also, if he goes to Watford they will be firmly up there with Forest and Boro in my hate list. I get that it’s a clever way around the rules, but it’s a minuscule amount of money compared to their vast Premier League riches for a club in desperate need. Shame on them.

  15. Honestly some of the hysteria on twitter in ridiculous. Q are licensed insolvency professionals, there will be rationale for their approach. This has been a common theme all the way through the process, we blame the admins and then we realise they are simply doing their jobs. The idea that Andrew Hosking is sat in an office somewhere pressing 'hang up' on his phone every time the EFL call is complete nonsense, they are clearly extremely busy with something at the moment.

  16. In fairness to Boro, I thought they had some serious quality today. Crooks was a player I really hoped we would be in for (back before admin).

With that being said, I do feel that they are in a similar position to us back in 2016/2017. A lot of big wages, big fees (perhaps not as much as we spent nominally, but adjusted for the weak market probably a similar amount). Furthermore, I can’t imagine they generate the sort of revenue we did, they’re not a small club by any means but they are a tier under us (in my opinion anyway).

I’ve always had my suspicions that they’re claim might have been FFP related, they lost eye watering amounts last year and they have spent big this year. I know they have a few assets with serious value, but I’m skeptical of some of the figures being banded around. Spence looks class but 10 million for half a season in the champ? Can’t see it personally, especially with the market still in a bit of a lull.

Maybe I’m wrong and they’ll come up smelling of roses, but somehow I think karma might be making its way to Teeside in the near future.
