Was concerned about the style of football. The Port Vale game early on was basically an embodiment of what I feared it would be but thankfully was an exception.
Even amongst this good run there has been some crap. Burton, Morecambe, Exeter and even the Ipswich game, I know it was the last time we lost which is impressive, but it was a really grim performance.
We are tough to beat and that’s a great trait to have and play some half decent football now. I didn’t like the hire in the first place as it felt eerily similar to some of the off field decisions under Mel. What’s happened since shows I was probably wrong on that which is a huge relief.

Max Bird has hailed Paul Warne's impact on Derby County's squad and says the Rams head coach is making them "fearless".
"We are a close group," he said. "All the senior lads get on with the younger lads and vice versa. There is a lot of banter flying about as there often is when you are on a bit of a roll. I am really enjoying it and the team is looking good.
The manager is very good. He's funny and I can't repeat what he said to me on the pitch at the end of the Barnsley game. It's all good. He's giving us the confidence to play, he's making us fearless and our reactions on the pitch are brilliant in terms of if somebody loses the ball, there is no moaning and everybody is after it.
We are a team, we are together and it makes you want to run through a brick wall for him because he is giving us that freedom and confidence to express ourselves. At the end of the day that's why we are on a bit of a run because he is letting us play football like we are 12 years old."

Having played a huge 1 game for Arsenal in the league cup in 4 years there, 10 games for Birmingham as they fought relegation from the championship before being dropped,  half a season on loan At Walsall in league 1 where he played a mammoth zero games, a year at Charlton in League 1 and about 30 games for us, I can see why we would below his station in League 1.  It's a glittering CV.  Blokes practically Cruyff.  I'm only amazed we got him for 7.5 million with add ons and he agreed to a paltry 20 k a week plus over 5 years.

It happened a few times in the height of the mel era but that's it. Cocu's first season we were miles better after Christmas than we were before it. I think it's a bit of a myth really and has no bearing on the current team.
I'm very optimistic about our promotion chances. The team has improved as the season has gone on and I expect us to continue doing that. You look at some of the losses and draws we've had so far and you think we can definitely iron them out.
I think the realistic expectation is playoffs. This team is definitely capable of that. If we do it we've had a good season. But I wouldn't write off automatic promotion. It will be tough of course but we have to believe we can chase them down.

We will be swopping divisions with them at the end of the season. I really don't think we need fear being preyed on by any championship club to be honest, certainly not one like them

Listening to BBC Humberside recently, they've been making a case for Rosenior to come in and pinch our better players. Their presenters and fans are very keen to "gamble" on the likes of Knight, Cashin and Bird - one caller said to throw £1m our way as League One players are only worth £100k so we should be very grateful for the extra in our time of need. Many want McGoldrick as they reckon we outdid ourselves in the summer and can't afford any of the wages so need to give everyone away before going bust. Hence why we gave Rosenior away as we couldn't afford him permanently. That's the rhetoric they're believing anyway! ?

He does seem to come in for a  ridiculous amount of scrutiny compared to someone like Jason Knight who appears to be completely above criticism despite missing sitters and giving away penalties (this season).

I was at the game last night and was impressed with Sibley , but I am a big fan. The only opinion that matters is that of Warne  who seems to warming to Sibbo. I have never doubted that he is our best finisher. Did you see that penalty ? I hope our manager builds a team that gets Sibley into as many scoring positions as possible.

I get it, but on the other hand, I can understand the club really want to rebuild the larger perception and image of us as we move on from being "the example of everything bad about modern football" (probably overstating it, but it felt like that was how we were seen at times) Whilst not being forgot about as a league 1 club.
It'll settle down naturally in time.

I wish he wouldn't continue to get all this exposure to talk about his philosophies etc. He's constantly in the public eye talking about his methods. I'd rather he had a good long period now of just quietly getting on with the job

As said, a large number of Clough signings were still at the club for many many years after him, just look at Fozzy. Then away from that, the academy setup (once famed, before admin ripped to pieces) is still headed up by the team he brought in through Wassall and his old mates. Clough's imprint at the club is still there and hopefully with Warne we'll get very similar longevity and success. Just quicker, as folk have said.

Yes I think so. There were times when there were complaints of bland football during Nigel's tenure, but on reflection, when you consider what he had to deal with (the mess left by Paul Jewell and the constraints during the rebuild), NC did a sterling job.
