And if Curtis stays he’d be an excellent assistant. 90% of management is getting the respect from the players and inspiring them to do mare than just a job.

It's really not is it - I reckon I could earn their respect with my patter but I'm not sure I'd know what to do to turn things round when we're 2-0 down at half time to Shrewsbury....

Jeez it’s astonishing how some people can grasp the point that’s being made re investors!

    1. Clowse buys the ground and the club with his own cash - this saves the club, gets us out of administration and allows us to start trading, signing players, offering contracts etc.

    2. AFTER he’s the new owner, he THEN need more investors to buy some of his shares off him, reduce his financial exposure, and share the losses. This can obviously take weeks, months or longer. But he’s prepared to stand the losses on his own for a period of time. We don’t know how long that period is, but I doubt it would be more than a year. Because although he’s a fan, he’s not stupid.

It's not rocket science is it!

Couldn’t He just close the deal then get backers? But it sounds like he’s hoping for the loan to be agreed with the EFL to be able to sign players etc whilst looking for cash investors, could drag on longer this

That appears to be what is happening - He's bought the stadium & provided funding for the season. If it is true that he's looking for additional investment then that shouldn't inhibit the purchase right now.

Was fiercely critical of his appointment and think he had a terrible first season and should have gone then.

As a bloke he's shown loyalty and held the club together these last 9months or so almost single-handedly.  Would gladly shake his hand and thank him. Don't resent him going now, he's waited till the club seems safe before he jumped ship.

However, a few games aside - where often the sheer will that he fostered brought us back from the brink - I don't think we were that great to watch, we had some bizarre tactics that drove me insane and we were often quite negative as a team on the pitch.

Obviously he's had an awful lot to content with...but less than 30 wins from 85 games isn't shouting to me he's irreplaceable.  In some ways maybe we have had the best of him...his ability to keep players loyal and fighting against the odds. There is hope for me we can do something in this league now and maybe someone else can change the whole narrative and perspective.  That said...Liam is the cheapest choice so not sure how well that works.

Anyway- to me he is still very much unproven as a manager but as a bloke he's a legend. Best of luck to him.

Agree with much of what you've said - I think it's a tad harsh to imply that his winning record wasn't great, given the constraints he was working with. That said, I'm thinking right now if the Birmingham game in Jan, it's one of my greatest days of being a Ram but we weren't very good! The amazing build up and finish glossed over how rudderless we were for much of the game. We were being royally humped for a while after the second goal, rarely seen a team with less direction than that. In short, his character was brilliant, his skills as a manager? Jury's out I think.

The more time goes on the more it appears we dodged a bullet. Feel far more at ease with Clowes on board than any of the other options.

Yeah - I was team CK, 100% but seeing his jet for sale is yet another alarming sign.

  6. My slept on it thoughts (©Ed Dawes) - This has certainly soured my view of Rooney - We know every manager goes eventually but I'm not sure this timing could have been worse. Day 1 of a new owners reign, he will need to find a new manager. Players left even more in limbo than they already were and potential signings may be having second thoughts. As I alluded to on page 1, many of us will be eternally grateful to Rooney and in a couple of years, this will be a mere footnote in our history but right now I feel a little let down!

    I’m guessing here …

Derby County Owed MSD a certain amount of money. In that sense MSD we’re a creditor and on the books. The security for the loan though, was against the stadium which was owned by Mel. Mel couldn’t therefore sell the stadium until the charge was settled. I’d suggest therefore that it is exactly like selling your house. You get the proceeds less what was owed to the building soc, which is then paid to them by the solicitors completing the deal. So I would guess DC bought the stadium from Mel and Mels solicitors forwarded part of the proceeds to MSD in settlement of the debt that was on DCFC’s books. So yes .. it should have gone. I doubt MSD have any unsecured loans to DCFC. Those sort of people just don’t lend money without lots of tangible security. What I am not sure about is the alleged further loans from MSD during last season . Did they get guaranteed by the stadium too or is another complex financial instrument in play ?

A little nuance in the statements - Clowes has bought the company that owes the stadium rather than the stadium itself so one could assume from that that the debt still exists within that company. Unless some deal was done with MM of course....

Hs is a North Stand Season Ticket Holder. Not a Corporate Box, Not a Directors Box, Not a West Stand ticket holder - he sits in the North Stand despite his wealth.

That shows me everything I need to know about him. It's not about fame or limelight unlike others.

    That he's agoraphobic?

"Andy Appleby says his bid for Derby County is in its "final strokes" as he looks to save the club's future and seal a return to the Rams.

The American businessman conducted an interview with Crain's Detroit Business amid plans to expand the United Shore Professional Baseball League. In the piece, printed earlier today (Tuesday), Appleby did not go into full detail over his bid for Derby but told Crains in a six-word update: "It's down to the final strokes."

The publication also said that Appleby was optimistic about his bid and expects to learn the outcome this week."

    This would make me happy.

I agree. Whilst we all have a favourite perhaps, none of the reportedly interested parties are fronts for oppressive regimes, convicted criminals or have even been accused of drug smuggling, arson or match fixing, so I doubt anyone is going to have a mard-on if their own preference isn't successful.

In fairness, it's a little more nuanced than that - It's no secret that I despise Mike Ashley and his terrible employment practices but then I'm also no fan of CK's apparent alt-right tendencies. In the context of my football club though, I can only focus on what said person will do for the football club. A lot has been said about Ashley and his job at Newcastle but the facts are that in the season before he bought them, they finished 13th in the PL. In the last season under Ashley, they finished 12th in the PL. So in a very simplistic, non scientific football only analysis, he left them where he found them. That wouldn't be good news for us.

In terms of infrastructure spending, Newcastle under Ashley between 2010 and 2020 spent £7m on repairs on maintenance, comfortably bottom of the PL table, the academy there is apparently not fit for purpose. A repetition of this would be a disaster for us.

In short, I would be disappointed if Ashley is are new owner, will be mardy about it? Probably. I certainly would love to see some commitment to infrastructure spending.

There is a Rams Review interview with Andy Appleby probably from a year ago saying he wasn’t interested in buying Derby at the time but was setting up a business with the intention of buying failing sports teams and turning them round. I’ll link it (if I was Rams Review I’d currently be ramming it down everyone’s neck) on a separate post in a minute

Yeah, I think that's a pretty succinct description of where we are!

He is not the registered owner on the paperwork, believe me i have access to the database. EJM operate an exclusive lease system a little like buying a car on PCP.

No. The have owned planes placed with them. They do also offer charter services but this isn't the case with CK. Have a look around at all the very wealthy and who their jets are registered with, Bill Gates as an sample...

You do realise that these registers are in the public domain right? You have access to the 'database', so does everyone else on the planet with internet access!

  13. 3 minutes ago, I DONT MIND said:

I Don't believe he actually owns the plane, it is on lease i believe from Executive Jet management Inc.

    Still not cheap.

He does, EJM are are a jet management company (the clue's in the name), they handle licensing, registration, maintenance, flight planning etc etc because people who aren't aviation professionals don't tend to know how to do that....
