"The businessman is on his third attempt to pump in over £20million in ONE payment to save Wayne Rooney’s club after snags with anti-money laundering checks.

Kirchner first sent over the massive sum at the end of May, including the first chunk of money to the club’s creditors, and this was delayed by queries in the financial police world.

A different method was tried and failed and he reverted to the original plan that is due to see the cash in an escrow account as soon as possible."

I don't want to be Mr Negative as I'm generally feeling much more positive today than yesterday BUT that if the above is true it's going to have alarm bells ringing in Bank HQ wherever that is!! Any large payment will be 'delayed' by queries, you have to answer them, and if you can't answer them then it's a problem...

But surely part of the fit and proper test is to prove where the funds are coming from.

So if this is the issue then clearly the fit and proper test is flawed.

I suspect that the EFL test is a box ticking exercise to make sure it complies with their rules. The financial institution would be doing it to prevent potential unlimited fines and jail sentences, the two things are poles apart, that's for certain.

So how would he have attempted to get the money in without going via the AML - according to @angieram this is his third attempt (I thought only second)?

I'd say that would be extremely unlikely., he would have had to have circumvent the banking system, seems rather unlikely that he might try to send bitcoins or gold or something ?? It would probably be fraudulent.

They are charging the same for seats on the halfway line as they are for the front row, five yards from the touchline

    Bonkers

Not convinced it will be the actual finished scale

Something reassuring that we've moved on to having a moan about something more operations, gives me a warm sense that we're in the beginning of the end ?

    Here how it goes today,

EFL have their meeting endorsing the final takeover

CK finishes his round of golf at St Albans, has a couple of drinks with Ian Poulter & then gets in the Billy Davies helicopter to be flown to the press conference in the newly painted press room at PPS

Or, as we say in the industry, 'Poults'

What I cannot understand is the the Chelsea takeover (in the billions) didn't take as long to finally settle. Money laundering checks, etc didnt appear to hamper them.

I know that ours has had many issues, but everything was apparently sorted and just waiting for the funds to be transferred!

In fairness, that has been answered several times. The complexities are obvious and there for all to see but most importantly Chelsea's takeover is funding by lending so won't require the same AML checks.

Anti money laundering checks by the bank. Usually only takes a couple of days though.

AML checks would depend on the value involved assume the complexity of the provenance of that money.

If you have a £25k house deposit from savings and a £50k salary then this going to a fairly quick check.

If you need to show where £60m has come from and it's from crypto and/or other sources, is say 2 days is really ambitious.

That said, CK would/should know that all this is going to take time....

haven't seen this posted yet so for anyone not on Twitter or listening to radio Derby here’s the tweet

The part I'm clinging to is "When Alonso and Bin Zayed were asked to transfer proven funds they couldn't. Then it was over." We're past that point, as far as I know - He's done that bit. Maybe it will still collapse, who knows.

I was camping in Wales when Diana died.

I worked for many years for, erm, a large American card issuer whose headquarters are prominently next door to the WTC, it was very strange and discomforting seeing it unfold and knowing that we had friends and colleagues there. Our building was badly damaged up to the 30th floor which tells you how damaging it was. I was in the office in London btw.

    With you on this.

This deal isn’t done yet and it’s ok to say so. There have been some totally bonkers theories given airtime on this thread and to show concern over the CK effort to purchase the club at this time is perfectly acceptable.

The thing is, it's not binary is it - It is normal to retain a positive outlook but have some concerns about where things are at or how long it's taking. It's also okay to feel negative about the whole thing while hoping for the best. I think what bugs people is when the same handful of people come along every day and repeat the same downbeat mantra, nothing new each time they post, just repeated negativity.

BTW, it's always a good thing to surround yourself with positive people ?
