Yup, and I'm by no means saying that Derby can't be an established EPL club but, in order:

1: Leicester were not £60m in debt, under transfer embargo, without filed accounts and coming off a season where they were three minutes from being relegated when they were bought. Indeed Vichai became a fan after watching them in the 1997 League Cup Final, not sure there are too many billionaires around who saw us at Wembley as their first game.

2: Sorry, but Leicester is a bigger city than Derby and with a much wider hinterland than us, stretching across to East Anglia and down to Northants.

3: They got there first, yes that could have been us but when the deal for Leicester went through in 2010 there was so much less of a gap than there is now.

4: The Leicester owners are, by pretty much all's acceptance, an anomaly in the modern game - there for the city and the club (for reasons I don't quite understand but still).

Life is unfair maybe, but it didn't happen to us and it's much more unlikely than ever to happen now.

Never mind the fact that Leicester went into Admin and have never paid back their creditors and went up by breaking FFP. It’s all sweetness and light at the KP

Simon Jordan not sounding too optimistic about Derby’s outcome with the EFL. Linking financial errors with FFP and possible severe sanctions.

Critical of Mel with the stadium evaluation.

Also critical of Steve McClaren. ‘Christ, some of the things he’s had his hands on...’

And Rooney who in his eyes should not be manager.

Not saying Jordan is infallible but he does have a fairly good take on running football clubs.

Pretty much opposite of what he was saying a few months back re stadium , Mel and FFP.

When we beat Forest 5-0 they were under embargo with a team of loans from Chile and all over the shop. We were on the crest of a wave . We are not laughing now.

They are not in a much better state than we are and likely to get worse looking at the last set of financial results and ageing bloated squad. Be even better if the law catches up with the owner

I know keepers age better than outfield players but at 38 he’s even older than Marshall.

And hardly played any games for years.
His form for us after coming back from injury was dreadful. Can remember we thanked our lucky stars that Stoke were willing to pay money to take him off our hands.
Was decent for a while after his 2nd return but would hope we could do better than Lee now .

With all this talk from Liddle today and every other tit with an opinion about deducting us points now and relegating us.  Can we have back the promotion QPR nicked from us when they were spending 4 x what they were bringing in and we were as in the black as it's possible to be in this league. Far as I recall they were allowed to go up.

Include Villa in this as well smashed FFP to pieces and would have been hit hard if they hadn’t stayed up via a tech and Var fault.

The EFL is not responsible for our accounts The auditors are not responsible for our accounts. The directors are. And if the DC accepts the LAP’s very damning version of our weasel-y conduct, then there’s every chance of a points deduction for breaching the rules by filing non-compliant accounts in a very shabby fashion.

Which bit and by whom were we praised for being open and honest then ? Surely we can’t weaselly and open and honest ?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the only free agent we signed in the previous 12 months was Ibe whom has played how many minutes for the club? Think MTW was also a free signing, both have turned out to be unmitigated disasters - at least MTW actually played a few games compared with Ibe.

As I said something radically different has to change in out recruitment.

    CKR ?

Not directed at yourself per se but how many years have I heard that line trotted out in false expectation.

Something radically has to change for this summer to be any different to the last one and the one before ad infinitum.

Covid has radically changed the financial landscape for all football clubs ,league and non-league this year. With the exception of Prem and clubs with parachute payments i think a lot of clubs will be restructuring playing staff and wages where they can . Saw Bristol City release a lot of players  last week even with their "billionaire" owner and reports that this year could be hundreds of free agent footballers on the market.

As you say remains to be seen but i think this summer transfer window will be like no other we have seen in regards to players being released.

That’s a valid point but, importantly, how many, if any, could we afford to replace with a higher quality player?

If we’re shopping in the bargain basement, or even subject to a transfer embargo, our options to upgrade will be severely limited. I think we’ll have accept that our current squad will form the overwhelming core of our team next season. Depressing but probably true.

I think this season there will be a lot of players released by clubs and a chance to pick up some decent players at much reduced wages by virtue of the amount of them being available. Many clubs will be stripping back to the bare minimum so a chance for all to start reducing the wage bills.
Maybe a few gems in that box of bargains to be had ?

So, if we owe Cocu & staff 8m add HMRC 20m add 30m loans total owed 58m. If Mel decided to pay that all off himself so the club had no debt how much is DCFC worth including Pride Park and the training ground?

No way we owe PC and co 8 mill , thought the loan was 17.5 mill even on the Fail figures ?
If the stadium has a valuation of 80 mill and the turnover with fans in the ground a very attractive proposition. DCFC have only ever leased the training ground however the mere fact that we have one that a new owner doesn’t have to build again is another plus .

I guess I would have to start watching Mickleover, but I don't know if I could be arsed, even though it's only a 15 minute walk to the ground.

I've already pretty much stopped watching any football that doesn't have some impact on / link to Derby so I expect there's every chance I could stop watching it altogether.

I’ll join you for a pint at Sports @Coconut

If the club folded, what would you do? Stop following football entirely? Become a football fan (no allegiance to one team, but keep watching)? Support another club?

Would never support another club. Would either watch the reincarnation of the Rams or dip in and out of local clubs like Mickleover Sports and Matlock Town that I have an affinity with.
Might pop to the odd local game with my mate who follows a couple of clubs.
I would cancel Sky Sports during the football season as have no interest in other Prem or FL clubs

I thought it was reported at the time he accepted a 60% reduced pay off? Even so, never thought he should have gone in the first place. The fact we allowed a group to make a managerial decision, who at that point had put no money in and now have nothing to do with us, is a farce. I don't believe we would have got relegated, we would then have hit the end of Rooney's contract as well. Now, just a mess.

Yes you do remember well. No percentage but well below the Daily Fail hyperbole

Also interesting to note in the article that the BZI deal was reported to be worth £60mill

It’s also worth noting this new DM article is written by our new favourite north east reporter, so have to presume it’s all a little quiet on Teeside.

No doubt that the North East correspondent and author  of the Daily Fail article is being fed snippets , encouraged by a local embittered owner with an axe to grind
