Digging deep into 70s nostalgia part of my brain, I believe Alfie Conn was the first of these and I think we had him on loan at some point.
If I recall correctly Conn changed his mind and the transfer not ratified

Loved Bruce’s equaliser against Liverpool. They spent most of the game passing it back to the goalkeeper (who could pick it up in those days kids) leading to much infuriation. Celebrated that goal like a demented banshee. They became terrified of losing the record. If they had just gone for us they would probably have won 4-0. I can still picture that goal to this day. One of my favourite ever in what was effectively a meaningless game for us.
Think that was the game Mickey Lewis kicked Steve McMahon from pillar to post and McMahon spent most of the game crying to the referee

Now we're back in the "big time", will we be getting a dedicated reporter again for The Athletic paper?
I seem to recall we only "lost" our reporter as we were relegated and league one teams weren't deemed worthy enough. We had the excellent Ryan Conway then the replacement younger lad whose name escapes me.
I subscribed on their website when we had one but cancelled when they weren't bothered about us. Always top class articles without the death trap of adverts that litter the DET website.
It would be brilliant to get Ryan Conway back again as he seemed to really get involved fully with the club. He has an excellent book out on us, Pride Before The Fall, if anyone hasn't read it.
I use Adblock so never see any of those nasty ads

Article about Marinakis in today’s i Newspaper. Too long (and probably against copyright law!) to quote extensively, but I was particularly struck by this…. It is claimed he has a custom-built “throne” at the city ground.
And…
”More recently, he was fined £26,000 for abusing one referee in Greece and banned from entering the field of play for abusing another.”
And…
He “is still under investigation for his alleged role in the Noor One case, Europe’s largest drugs bust. He strongly denies any involvement.”
Hopefully the second one will eventually stick if enough witnesses can stay alive

Not watching bits of the game but I’ve been going through the RD podcasts while out walking the dogs. Done the whole of the post-match and today I finished the full Monday night show. EFL podcast with Collins is next.
Trouble is, that wind keeps making my eyes water.
Yours or the dogs ? 😉

even more of a gamble then
It was a one off freak injury I’ve read. Unusual for football , he has been pretty much fit the rest of his career and was so in his spell with us.

What in the Che Guevara are they talking about?

The majority are with them ? Not from what I have seen

adams has been immense since his arrival,he has been the spark that got us auto promotion,in my opinion.my fear is ,we get him,and he cannot reach the heights he has this season in the champ, there is a reason Cardiff let him go,they would not let him go if he was playing for them as he has been for us
He was mainly injured while at Cardiff

I guess the question is how much is competitive?
Overall Transfer kitty:
£0 - £1m
£1m - £2m
£2m - £3m
£3m+
i know money will be spent on wages but as @Srg has pointed out, the difference in what clubs can spend is great. Add in that i don't think we have anybody that will attract a multi million pound bid, i'll be intrigued to see what our pot is.
Cashin will attract a multi mill pound bid , but hope he doesn’t

Joe Morrell and Sean Raggett both available free from Pompey , although Morrell still negotiating. Morrell tigerish in midfield and Raggett could be good back up in defence.

Yes indeed - instead of the Smash n'Grab pairing that Bristol Rovers had back in the 70s, we'd have A & E
Bannister and Worboys ?

I know I'm in the minority here, but personally I'd keep Hoularane, might just turn out that the championship might suit him better, no he isn't the player he was, but still has an eye for a pass, especially if he has adams and another workhorse around him
Pretty sure he will retire and do coaching at Villa .

Has anyone connected with Derby actually come out and even alluded to what our transfer budget will be this summer, whether we will have to sell first to outlay on transfer fees etc etc?
The quote was aim to be competitive , not there to make up the numbers

Fa Cup 1983 when we were truly 💩 and beat the Red Dogs 2-0 Archie and Andy Hill got the goals. What a 23rd birthday pressie

I read there is talk of them getting two points back. Ridiculous if true.
Should be docked 2 further points. I’d expect legal action from other clubs if the Dogs are treated leniently

As a cricket-detester, I recall the rush back to catch the end of the cricket in the Derby pubs.
I don't recall the score, it being Archie's last game, or any flying seats.
I was settling down with a young family by '84, and not a regular match-goer, so that NatWest day was almost certainly '81. 🤷♂️
It was and I was at Lords not Shrewsbury but I do remember Derbyshire won and the Rams lost ( 3-0 I think)
