The Sun headline is sensationalised (there’s a shock) but the owner of Wycombe mentioned that ‘something is going on at Derby’ which along with a lot of the other comments, i.e Warne saying it’s disappointing we didn’t get relegated, would lead me to believe that a points deduction is incoming.

It will definitely be applied next season, but this is very similar to Charlton and Wednesday last season. It also makes me believe that we are getting a points deduction which the club are ill-prepared for. I think Reading and a few others are due a point deduction too, so we will have to see how that plays out. I’d imagine like us they can kick the can down the road and prolong it. Half the championship at this point are pretty much due a point deduction in some form or another.

I would think that the only things Warne and the Wycombe owner know is the clickbait nonsense that Nixon put out. Highly doubt Warne knows anything . Do agree that a lot of clubs could be in financial trouble  though including us as a result of Covid. The EFL should be finding ways of supporting clubs not punishing them. If that's there MO may as well give the relegated clubs  promotion now as they are the only ones who will have any money.

I don’t expect they will either I just suggested they could. Certain owners of other EFL clubs, may even finance it. But doubt that too. When the arbitrators of the rules are the rule makers themselves, I just don’t think we can be certain it won’t happen

Other clubs owner ( Gibson ) tried. He was told its not allowed. They can have no input.

My understanding is that the EFL has already stated their appeal is in relation to the second charge i.e. the format in which the accounts were submitted. If they decided to re-visit the issue 're the sale of PP and challenged the actual valuation they would be questioning the competency of a heavyweight company with plenty of financial clout to bounce them into then out of court. As stupid and myopic as the EFL are, I doubt even they would consider going down this route - we've already witnessed the furore their last legal bill caused amongst the majority of the member clubs of the Football League.

Not to mention that they did appoint a valuation “ expert” who had no experience valuing stadia , didn’t bother to visit or survey PP ( think his mate drove by ) and compared PP with Morecambe and MK Cuckoos grounds ? , as you say Wolfie they would be laughed out of court by the company DCFC used.

    What a measured response.

I’ll give you one last response. Derby have not as far failed FFP so no they haven’t over spent in FFP terms. Middlesborough would have done if they hadn’t sold the club debts to Gibsons own haulage company. That should count as cheating in your eyes as well , as it happens it was not against the rules at the time ( the tax man might have a different view on that still ) . If Gibson is your idea of a clean and virtuous owner as you seem to reference his opinion a lot then my opinion of you as a wum stands

When Gibson brought up ours and wednesdays misdeeds I thought he was full of it and still is on the most part but we overspent and that is cheating. We will receive a points deduction IMO and that will also prove him partly correct. All I have for mel is anger and I want him gone. I am most definitely not a WUM I'm just a very concerned Derby fan and the whole affair gives me massive anxiety.

    Bye bye Wum

I cannot see how the original tribunal could have deemed to have got it so wrong.

If suddenly were going from having not even a fine imposed against us to now on appeal people taking about fines and 'large' points deductions

    What's changed so drastically ?

New evidence ? New witnesses ?, Rule changes ? If so surely there should be a complete NEW tribunal hearing starting at beginning not an appeal of a decision already reached.

No new evidence is allowed from either party

Marching on Together. They love talking about Derby ?

    Your posting record so far is;

A thread saying we arent a big club in this division & hence aren't too big to go down. And that Watford and QPR are 'bigger' clubs than us

We shouldn't celebrate surviving yesterday as thats tinpot

We have broken FFP rules & should expect get a points deduction

You reek of an oppo fan. Got anything nice to say about Derby County?

    I’ve popped them on ignore

What is there to be positive about? I can't be the only one who isn't blind to what mel has done to this football club?

Not answered the question about the points loss or why Gibson is right. Still think you are a WUM

  9. 1 minute ago, EdinRam said:

Fine at most are you sure? They can most definitely take 12 points from us if the appeal sides with the EFL

Yes i am sure plenty of info at the time. Show the rules that state they can take 12 points off for this For a new poster you seem to have a lot of negativity can’t help wondering if you are a WUM

You say that but Gibson is partly being proven right when complaining about us and Wednesday, Wednesday are now able to begin their recovery whilst we are still waiting for the punishment. We will most likely start next season on -12 and IMO that will see us off.

Why is Gibson partly proved right ( he has done questionable things in the past to evade FFP selling clubs debts to his haulage company ). Derby were within the rules. Wednesday would have been if they had put the sale in the correct accounts.
What the EFL are appealing the punishment will be a fine at most if they win which going on the mess they made 1st time round they won’t ( not allowed to present new evidence ).

Mel's policy of having so many academy players in the team just said to me that he isn't going to be spending any more money. We have let too many experienced players leave and have replaced them with academy players who aren't good enough. Look at the bench at the weekend, it's bereft of any quality.

Nothing to do with 5 first team players out injured plus Edmondson then ?

I agree, with the money laundering regulations the source of the funds to buy the club would be one of the first questions to be addressed.

if there is consortium and I would imagine there is, then that fact would need to be disclosed.

I suppose it’s a fact that the EFL and Mel’s legal team need to know and we don’t, it will probably be revealed at a later date!

The money laundering bit must have been forgotten when one of our close neighbours was taken over

The chap at the EFL who will give the "Fit and Proper" approval is probably the same chap who based the value of Pride Park on Morecambe's ground, I'm not confident that diligence and good sense are particularly common attributes at the EFL?

Why not just talk about Sheffield Wednesday though, a team he genuinely made a bid for? No need to bring Cardiff into the conversation.

Because he was asked a question which other teams have you spoken to and he responded with those 2 which he had. Bet if he hadn’t mentioned Cardiff and it came out later some would find a problem with that. There might be issues but  let’s not find them where none are.

At least this guy understands football/has a proper football background.

He wants to see us do well and I think most of this current media talk is just signs of his exuberance.

And at least things are on the move again after stagnating so long with Mel.

    #COYR

I always like to be optimistic and will wait to see if the funds come through and the EFL tests are passed. If he has the funds to buy the club and guarantee to be able to fund it for 2 years fair enough , if not then it will be known very soon.
If he has funds then hopefully they are from legit sources.  I would be seriously worried if not , unlike fans of a neighbouring club , where there are unanswered questions as to the source of that money and don’t seem to care as long as they can continue to collect ageing players in large wages.

One person's jealously/irritation/excuses to moan is another person asking legitimate questions about both the experience of the new owner and where the funds are coming from.

I think there are more than enough examples that just "trusting that everything will be fine" is not the best approach.

There are legitimate questions which is fine and understandable. I would hope that we all have them , then there is making mountains out of mole hills like the Cardiff thing. Must be a balance between the two ?
