This is probably the best chance since we took the record for our 11 points to be beaten.

Very sad news for Josh and his family, the support from his colleagues will be needed at a difficult time like this, sometimes there’s more to life than football. 😔
Perhaps something could be arranged by fans to show support at the home game? Applause at the 31st min or something?

Just a quick note to some, Mel spent Dcfc money, not his. he put us into debt, plus local business into debt, and lets remember, he had 500 plus million in the bank when he left, so let's not talk about him putting his own money in, he put it onto the club debt, also he would have seen this club die. Thats why Clowes is a hero.

taffyram reacted to IslandExile in At least we still have a club.......yeah but...
Last year was a nightmare. The almost unthinkable nearly happened - we were so close to losing our beloved football club, founder members of the football league, champions under Clough and Mackay, FA cup winners after the war and European Cup semi-finalists.
David Clowes, a genuine fan with the means to do so, rescued the club at the last minute. He himself says it "was close".
Thanks to him, we have a club, our club.
We must learn the lessons of the past. We must not get into the same precarious mess ever again.
But....we can move on. We must move on. We should now look forward. We do not have to merely be content that the club is still in existence.
It's ok to demand more from the manager, the teams on the pitch (not just the first team but especially them).
We should demand exciting, entertaining football that gets results. It does not mean that we won't forever be grateful to David Clowes for saving the club.
It means we want Derby County to once again be a beacon for good football. Attacking football. Positive football. Entertaining football.
That means passing football, intricate moves, running with the ball, creating chances. It doesn't mean sitting back and hoping to score from a corner or a free kick.
I like Paul Warne, the man. But I don't like his tactics. I don't like his desire to play 3-5-2 with the players he has available, I don't like his use of players out of position or not giving the academy players a chance. I don't like the emphasis on set pieces rather than attacking play.
Yes, at least we still have a club.
But we are Derby County. The football should be, must be, ought to be better 🐏

I don’t think it does at all if the team that conceded want to walk to the centre spot to kick off they can do no matter how quickly the team that scored get the ball back to the centre spot. All this wrestling for the ball after a goal is a waste of effort in my opinion

Torn between not even close and the end of the season, went with not even close in the end.  Largely because I want to see us give a manager time to build his team as I think chopping and changing rarely works.  To do that I think PW needs a season without any EFL business plan, support from a recruitment team that’s had a year to identify players to suit his way and the opportunity to reinvest funds generated.
I’m prepared to accept that it will be a bumpy ride in the short term but it may be beneficial in the long term.  It also doesn’t mean I’ll be happy with everything he says or does.

Not his shot stopping but his shithousery.

After Peterbrough got their second one of their players took the ball off him and he went down holding his head. He was not touched on his head. He stayed down and got treatment for a fake injury.

I hate faking, but faking head contact is just trying to get a player sent off. Needs stamping out the game.

Assuming the two new signings are fit, they will be on the bench tomorrow.
In a couple of weeks’ time, PW is going to have to leave either new signings or established players out of the match day squad.
    Interesting times.

I’m in the underwhelmed category. Preseason optimism gone and replaced with meh.
Next two results against potential top 6 teams will show whether he’s able to get the team to gel and start beating or getting positive results against the so called better teams.
I’m wary of letting him continue culling the good first teamers and replacing with reserves from elsewhere.  Downward spiral. If he’s going to be let go of then the sooner the better.

    Date: Saturday 26th August, 3PM
    Venue: Weston Homes Stadium
Form Guide: Peterborough have started the season well as they aim to put their playoff nightmare from last season behind them. Their 1-0 defeat at Northampton ended the 100% record they opened up with in their first three matches. Impressive wins at Reading (1-0) and Barnsley (3-1) came either side of a 1-0 success over Charlton in their only home match to date. Nine points out of twelve sees them handily placed in third position albeit just three points ahead of ourselves.
Danger Men: Mason-Clark, Poku and Clarke-Harris are perhaps the trio most likely to get on the scoresheet. Often the most free-scoring (and conceding) of teams at this level, it is perhaps a surprise that their four matches thus far have only yielded seven goals in total (scored five, conceded two). Their current top scorer this season is midfielder Kyprianou with two.
Rams vs Posh History: The two clubs didn't meet competitively until 1963 and it was another decade until the second clash between the sides. Both those matches were FA Cup games and were both won by Derby.
The clubs first met in a league fixture on the opening day of the 1992/93 season when heavily fancied Derby lost 1-0 at London Road. Posh completed the double over us that season with a 3-2 success at the Baseball Ground, a victory which remains their only win on Derby soil.
This is a fixture in which the home side has largely dominated. Only 14 league games have been played with near-identical records for the teams.
    Rams Record vs Posh
    Home:  P 7   W 5   D 1   L 1    F 13  A 7
    Away:   P 7   W 1   D 1   L 5    F 8  A 13
Six wins for each team then with a couple of draws thrown in. Derby are looking to avoid a fifth straight defeat away to Peterborough, with the Rams conceding ten goals in those last four visits.
Derby's only victory on Peterborough territory came courtesy of a 3-0 win in January 2010 with the goals being a Steve Davies penalty followed by a brace from DJ Campbell.
Derby Team News: It would be a tough call predicting the XI Paul Warne selects as - to the best of my knowledge - there are injury doubts about Joe Ward, Kane Wilson, Max Bird and Tom Barkhuizen. There is also the possibility of transfers this week. Whatever the personnel available, most Derby fans will be expecting Liam Thompson and Jake Rooney to be given the chance to further showcase their abilities after both added plenty to the overall Derby performance against Fleetwood. The feelgood factor watching the younger Rams play well was the biggest boost I left the ground with today and hopefully next to get league minutes will be Dajaune Brown. To that end, a spot on the bench for him at Posh would be lovely please Mr Warne.
Summary: This is a tough match and if I'm still rolling for the trip to Bolton which follows then I'll be pleasantly surprised. We shouldn't fear anyone in this division but I think it's fair to acknowledge that Peterborough are a more settled team than us right now and that a draw - and especially another improved performance - would represent a decent return as well as ending that four-match run of defeats in this particular fixture.

Am I the only one that was irked by these comments?
Whose fault is it exactly if we are not a top three team in this league?
Perhaps I’m being arrogant/entitled/both but Derby County should be a top one team in League One and if we’re not the manager is also heavily responsible for this.

It could be argued that a good manager makes average players think and play like a top 3 team. Calling them out in the press is going to do little to motivate them.
PW could do with taking the old  advice-"If thas got nowt to say. Shut tha gob."

Sounds like potentially long term injuries for Bird, Ward and Wilson. Says early on that it’s 2 suspected bone injuries and 1 suspected tendon injury, without specifying which players are which or any timescales as still waiting for full diagnosis.
