It was rammed on the terrace. Does anyone remember the 4.1 defeat at Old Trafford the previous season. Steve Cross celebrated his consolation goal like it was the winner!  Seem to remember there being a massive killer whale inflatable in the away end or maybe I dreamt that!

Yes I do remember that. Steve Cross came on like a man possessed even though the game was lost. I don’t remember the whale though.

  2. Does anyone remember a game at the BBG in the early 80s - midweek, probably a Wednesday- not too many there, about 10,000, possibly against Shrewsbury but maybe not…however there was a big storm with wind howling around the Ley Stand.  The big metal loudspeakers which used to hang down from the top of the stand were blowing all over the place. It was mad because they were huge big chunks of metal. People underneath them were moved then one came loose from its cable, falling and destroying multiple seats-smashing them to pieces. If anyone had been sitting underneath they would have been killed instantly. Always stayed with me that one. If we hadn’t been completely crap for years and had a full house people would have died. Tommy Docherty inadvertently helped save the lives of a few people that day.

    Derby 3 - Yeovil 2 2014

2-0 down at half time and the concourses were so relaxed about it. We just all seemed to know we would come back to win. I'd never been more convinced of a promotion in my life. Bloody Zamora.

All of the 1884 Group display games too. Incredible feeling to see the visual impact of what we did. I imagine the people behind Popside Fanatics experienced the same feeling on Saturday. They're doing a brilliant job.

Beating Yeovil isn’t for everyone though is it.

I remember that well. I was at the front and when Phil scored. I lept in the air and 10000 fans all pushed forward.  I didn't hit the ground for about a minute. Squashed against the railings in front. Happy days

It was a great moment. Just after we had heard that Portsmouth were losing as well.

Scoring goals for Derby, Phillip Gee, Phillip Gee …

Stuff like that is what we will miss about League 1. I can’t see Middlesbrough doing that. It was a great day, friendly atmosphere and the day we pretty much clinched promotion in my book.

I think your memory is confusing different events youth. You're right about those events being on the same day, but that was September 1981 and Archie's last game was May 1984 at Shrewsbury. He wasn't at Derby in 1981.

Then Shrewsbury away with the seats flying was September 81 then. Unless we regularly went to Shrewsbury and put the seats on the pitch!

  7. It will be an interesting few weeks. Every single member of the squad has had an impact; had a match that was their moment (usually followed by long term injury). A number are too old or not quite good enough and so we can’t afford to be too sentimental whilst at the same time we need to ensure the culture at the club remains.

We will need a squad and there are players there that would be more than useful in making that squad up, allowing us then to add quality where it is desperately needed - up front and in midfield. I think we probably all have our favourites who we would like to see stick around. Anyone who leaves though goes with best wishes and a thank you. Once a Ram…

Definitely need more. Living in Leeds, I see quite a bit of street art with regards to their football team. A lot of the telephone exchange boxes are painted by someone. I think they call him/her the Kirkstall Banksy.

They do indeed - I have to admit they look great and think something similar would look good around our way, although Leeds would paint more obviously. If memory serves he used to be in a band with Notts Forest referee Jonathan Moss. Not only was their band s*** but they were arrogant unlikeable p***** in my opinion. Don’t know about the Yorkshire Banksy but my opinion of Moss certainly hasn’t changed.
