I think we should all try and not get too tied up about the style of play until the transfer window shuts. Warne hasn’t finished recruiting yet and we should all know how significantly one player can change the way a team plays!

And my own position is that it's more of a 'fear' than an 'expectation'.
I actually enjoyed some of the games last season with, as you say, high press and move the ball quickly.
It needed that reset after all the sideways possession football. I just hope it doesn't go to the full extreme.

Anyway, I always love to share this with the followers of the second team in Nottingham when they get all uppity.
Even in League One we'd be getting higher attendances then these clowns in the Championship.

 

Warne's teams play decent football, good footballers have always had a place in his sides. If anything his sides should be more pragmatic at times, in my opinion. He obviously likes the ball moving quick and attacking the opposition whilst they're unbalanced which at times has come back to bite us on the arse as doing this makes us unbalanced and unsure, but generally it's a fast attacking relentless approach. 
I like Warne - I think his principles are solid, his approaches and coaching are good. He strikes me as a man who knows exactly what he's doing and puts steps in place to achieve it.
It's definitely not a pragmatic defensive approach, it's made out to be.

Ok. RowettBall was successful to some extent because it got us in the playoffs but would you have liked to continue watching that style? I wouldn't.
Sure, of course, I hope we get promoted. But there's more than one way to skin a cat (sorry cats but it's the truth), and I think promotion can be achieved by playing football in an attractive way.
As I said in a subsequent post ^^^ mine is a fear rather than an expectation. Ok, the tone of my original post was, as you say, 'negative' but, at least, that provoked discussion - which is what we want on a forum.
I hope WarneBall is more like how @David described it than how I fear it.

It depends really. I just thought your description of it was simplified and pretty harsh. I think it’s a different style to Rowett’s style.
This season will allow us to judge the style a bit more in my opinion. Whether we have a better squad or not will be a matter of opinion but we do have more round pegs for Warne’s preferred style.
If we play relentless football that gets the ball forward quickly, gets it in the box a lot and gives other teams problems then brilliant. The ability to do that was stunted last year by players either unable to play that way or not enough energy to keep it up for the whole campaign. Natural wingbacks will make a big difference hopefully.
Don’t forget that Clowes gave Warne a 4 year contract, which might suggest some kind of long term plan/goal in place. I want to see progress in terms of performance and style, but I don’t know if Clowes will be expecting everything to click in to place not even half way through the contracted period.

Agreed but we are not Manchester City who are in an envious position where they could sell any one of their first team and buy Derby and the ground and still have a profit.
We are Derby who are in the not so envious position of having a limited budget and relying on loans and freebies.
I personally think we have done pretty well so far under the circumstances and the future looks brighter.
Lets hope the high press, win the ball and get back at the opposition is entertaining enough for those who don't relish what they think Warne Ball is. Let's face it, we played the way we did last year with a team he inherited not one which he built.
This year should show more of his intent.
Time will tell, but if he get's us up I wouldn't worry what style we currently play.

Not really needed, I don't think Warneball is anywhere near as bad as some make it.
Would we have sold 20,000+ season tickets had it been atrocious, being League 1 as well.

If we get 3 points after 90 minutes, they can play head tennis with the ball with the keepers arse sticking it in the net for all I care.
Warne has a proven track record at this level, whatever everyone's takes are on Warneball, to a man and woman, not one fan would be complaining if he delivered the League 1 title.
We've had pretty much every style going with McClaren, Rowett, Cocu and without fail, fans are only ever happy when we're winning.
If I was to put a more positive spin on your description of Warneball for balance.
1. High pressing, winning the ball back quickly in the opposition half.
2. Wing backs getting down the line with the ball, Kane already spoke of his dribbling ability.
3. Putting balls in the box giving decent service to Collins where instinct takes over rather than time to think.
4. Winning the balls in the box.
5. Scoring bags of goals
6. Defend the lead by cutting out silly mistakes, a solid back line with natural wing backs that are willing to cover the ground turning it into a back 5 without the ball.

That's 100% what I'm expecting to see, although I think you're being a bit ambitious with step 5.

Now that 'ol bobble hat Warney (I do like him honestly) is in the throes of assembling a team "in his own image", do we expect to see WarneBall in its purest form?
I fear but hope it's not just:
run around a lot hoof the ball down the channels get to it and cross it early scrap for it in the box score goal defend the lead by running about even more

It’s been a bit quiet atm, Godden is being pushed hard but sounds like Cov need another Striker in before he can go. Andy Dallas was the Chesterfield target but he seems to be negotiating to the highest bidder. I’ve seen he’s ‘agreed terms’ with about 5 different clubs 😂 if I hear anything I’ll put it up ASAP

Well I think all signing have been good signings and if we can get another goal scorer we could be challenging for the title winning season but very very early doors if we fail get another striker in we do have have lang that can play there and been doing that for his country in the golden cup thing.
And we have some good young players breaking through as well that could add pure pace to our attacks now in which I think teams will find hard who to pick up now.
I know many of you are against papa John's troupy but it could be good for young lads confordance. And we could sign those lads from RAngers that been at trail with us.
