Under Morris we have seen Hughes Hendrick Lowe Bogle Delap Gordon Brown Whittaker and Bennett all leave I can’t get my head around this academy comment. If we got offered a decent fee for Buchanan or sibley they’d be out the door too the bloke has consistently talked out his arse throughout his tenure.

Never rated that Gordon Brown though, carried a bit too much weight

  2. Born and bred in Derby and lifelong Rams fan following in the footsteps of my dad. Moved to Doncaster in 1991 for work and marriage where both my sons were born - both of whom have been brought up properly as Rams fans although my youngest had a University placement over at the dark side whilst in Nottingham. Owned up to being a Ram in his interview and was still successful ??.

I was actually quite surprised about that, watching on RamsTV you could see the block in the middle of the East Stand was pretty much filled, wasn't sure if this was down to the stewards shepherding fans in to make it easier to watch, or what. There were a few fans scattered slightly away from the main crowd.

But I guess with restrictions gone, it's something we will have to get used to going back to.

Suspect it may have been to limit how many of the concourses needed to be open and staffed

I'm not convinced all seats are going to be in use - My old man tried to book our seats and they're not available so he had to pick the closest equivalent spare seats

Again, once the stadium is back at a higher capacity that should hopefully resolve itself

I think they are leaving a space between bookings but can’t be certain….just seemed that way as I tried to book next some that were already taken (both showing available) but it wouldn’t let me.  Moved up 1 place and bingo, all good

Don't underestimate the strength of fan power. Sadly though there's a distinct lack of anger towards Melvyn on the basis he's one of our own. He's killed the club - we should be running him out the club.

Harsh.  Yes, he’s clearly made mistakes but they were made trying to get us to the Premier League.  There were some who voiced concerns when he was spending big but the majority did the opposite. Many of the spending mistakes came from the managers in place at the time - if the players were right then we may have been promoted (yes, I know Mel made the appointments).  Mel gambled without a doubt and we are suffering big style now but his intentions for the club were that of a supporter.  He needs to fix the mess and I’m sure that’s what he’s trying to do

  6. I get the negativity and comments about Shinnie but this could be a clever move.  Shinnie will always be a leader with or without the armband.  If the responsibility gets an extra 10% out of our most gifted player then it's worth a gamble.  My fear would be how Tom reacts if and when things don't go our way and the crowd turns against him and the team.  Good start needed by Tom and the team as a whole........

****** hell, how many times can the EFL appeal!!? they didn’t like the original decision, so they appealed, they’ve now got the appeal decision, they don’t like that so they’re now going to appeal the appeal!

This is absolute madness, do they just keep appealing until they get the answer they want!?

I’m sure I read that only Derby could appeal the arbitration panels decision and not the EFL……. complete drawn out farce that leaves us in total limbo yet again

How is Morris actually trying to conduct this deal? Like is he advertising us on Autotrader so every tyre kicker, has been and never was can then put a bid in for us then count their loose change down the back of the settee and realise they're a few million quid short.

Am gobsmacked to be honest but not surprised at all given everything that's gone before

It’ll be a cunning plan..... take a £5m non refundable deposit from every would be buyer.  2 down 10 to go and we’ll be debt free (disclaimer, I have no idea what the value of debt is)

Pearce if guilty of knowingly false accounting, should be fired immediately.

If it’s taken about 2 years, an inquest and appeal then it can’t be that black and white.  Hope I’m right but sounds like a bit of a storm in a tea cup..... hopefully a fine will be seen as appropriate punishment which was initially reported when the appeal was first made.

How much would it cost to do a complete rebuild of the team, to something able to complete for a top 2.

I can't think of any area of the team that wouldn't require improvement, given this season.

Is it a good idea to tell the world you have a lot of money to spend.

On the positive side we have young players who will improve.  On the optimistic side we have Krystian Bielik to come back and when he was around we looked a different team and talk from some was about launching a play off push this season.  Given some investment and clever recruitment the re-build may not be quite as drastic.  Maybe I’m glass half full but I won’t gain anything by being the opposite.

On your point about declaring that we have money to spend I tend to agree although the positive view maybe that it shows ambitious intent that may help to attract the right sort of player who want to join the project.

I'm a tired middle aged man. I don't have reserves of rage to bring to bear on topics around what might go wrong, or what should have been done. I'm sad that Mel is walking away, sad for us and for him, that the effort in sweat and treasure he's put in to getting us promoted never worked out. Blame him if you want, but few of us could or would have done better. He deserved to sit in the executive box at Old Trafford and The Emirates and watch our team mix it with the best again. I'll always respect him and wish him well.

The new guy is a clean slate, a fresh start. We have a new season over the horizon and if we can just win a couple more games and stay up, positives in the academy and the managers office and hope for the future.

Good luck to him, and I hope the takeover and the relegation battle conclude successfully in this next couple of weeks.

Up the Rams. It's all about the hope.

Cracking post, sums up my own views perfectly (and I’m a tired middle aged man as well) ? ??

Ok United then.  Still the same scenario though. I assume this pre agreement is all because of his age leading to a pro contract at 17. Why would we wait based on his potential for Man utd to come in.  Offering him a contract to put him in the shop window makes no sense, you only lose out long term .  You offer a contract and get it signed, then put him in the shop window by him being round the first team.

My understanding is that you cannot sign a pro contract until you’re 17.  Kaide is 17 in October so will be on an academy contract until then.  Nothing to stop him going if he wants to go and if clubs don’t agree a compensation fee it goes to tribunal.

    Who was that? Barney bowers?

Chris Egan, young Irish left winger signed from Sligo Rovers in October 1973.  Left on loan to Newport County in 1976 before playing locally with the likes of Heanor Town & Arnold.

Fair call and widely reported as Clough's last signing towards the end of September 1973 but Clough did sign one other on 1st October 1973, although didn't go on to make any 1st team appearances.

Cloughies first signing at Derby and took him everywhere, including leaving him stranded at Leeds, one of our great centre forwards and another incredibly friendly and open man, happy to share memories and stories, his book would be good, very good ! John O’Hare or John Nohair as jordan decided to call him.

With John O'Hare being Cloughs 1st signing for the Rams, does anyone know who his last signing was before resigning?
