  1. Start our UK trip on Sunday. Have to fly south to Melbourne-2.20hr flight then north to Darwin-4hr flight then Darwin to London a 17.30 hr flight! Thanks for the change Qantas.

Off to Scotland for 7 weeks starting at Inverness on Tuesday night, spending the whole of June in Edinburgh then doing the West Highland walk from 3 July.

The final 4 weeks will be working our way down to Southampton then back to London. We should be in Derby July16. Hopefully there’s a pre season game on around then.

Your man got through to Saturdays final, so a few more days partying for your daughter are in order... ?

I’m still trying to figure out how we’re in Eurovision.

  3. Grandads team - don’t know, only met him once but living in Derby I’ll go with the  Rams.

Dads team - sent over here as a kid so ended up playing for and supporting  Geelong (Aussie Rules). Western Suburbs Brisbane (rugby league).

Mums team - whoever I was playing for or managing.

Everyone at school - being a army brat too many schools around Oz to mention but here in Brisbane, Western Suburbs Panthers (rugby league)

Your local side - Samford Stags (rugby league) Samford Rangers (“soccer”)

Your kids team - Melbourne Storm, Canberra Raiders (rugby league)

50000 killed must have been traumatic indeed for such a young country.

Has remembrance been extended to all wars, as it has in the UK?

All wars mate, my father served in Malaya and Vietnam and marched while he was able but a injury he sustained in Vietnam has slowed him down the last few years.

Nearly did a thread on Chris Bailey’s passing.

I honestly think The Saints are the epitome of what punk is. Even more than some of NY bands, Iggy, Clash etc. In that you are trying to emulate what’s gone before on your budget. How do you emulate Phil Spector’s wall of sound without the production value? You turn up the guitars to sound bigger, you play a little faster to hide any mistakes etc. That’s The Saints to me and it’s why I bloody love them.

Brisbane at that time was a quiet backwards town that was starting to become a city with all the problems associated with that. Throw in a religious far right State Premier and a police force that was way over the top, you could feel it in the air even as a 14 year old.
