Got 5 nights camping booked from the 29th to 3rd Jan. 
Very top end of The Lakes.  Out in the sticks near Caldbeck, up above Keswick.
Hopefully a nice brisk jaunt up Skiddaw on NYE (daytime, obvs!), and the rest of the break just mooching around in walking boots.  Hopefully no wet gear required! 

It goes without saying, I am praying for snow on our tent, which hasn't happened since Feb '13... not for the lack of trying!
A bit concerned about the 6amp leccy supply.  Just hope our teeny-weeny fan heater doesn't trip!  

Fingers crossed for crisp sunny days, clear star-studded nights, and deserted tourist spots!

 

There is a shameful caveat though... as has now become tradition over the past 5 or 6 New Years (apart from the last one, due to covid), we'll be joined by my niece and her fella... who very kindly bring their caravan with them, so at least the evenings will be spent in shorts, tee-shirts, and their hot air blown heating set on full! 
No doubt joined by James Bond and Jools Holland on the big night, as they also have a telly in there!  I know, ridiculous, innit!  We're supposed to be camping! 
Mr J Daniels will defo be there, along with a few of his moist friends.  A warming aperitif or two is very much a necessity on these kind of trips!

I know that feeling mate, a couple of months after buying the van I still feel like  I’m cheating not using the tent. Well  until we crank up the air conditioning! Not real sure about camping in snow though.

A few days at Barambah Bush Camping grounds and then three days at the beach in Poona from tomorrow. Glad to get away from the humidity in BrisVegas for a week.

To be fair the weather has been brutal the last 3 days. Brisbane’s heat and especially humidity at its best. It’s such an advantage to play the first test here as much as you can try to acclimatise nothing prepares you for Brisbane’s humidity November to January. We had 150mm of rain Thursday night and then 32 deg Friday!

The weather here in Brisbane has been ordinary the last few weeks and days 1 - 3 looks like having afternoon rain and thunderstorms. Should be a green top with the rain we’ve had.

Chicken, prawn and mango salad, leg ham and icy cold beer while sitting by the pool in 32c heat and 95% humidity. Then usually a huge thunderstorm around 4pm to cool things down a bit.

First time out this week with the new van, 5 nights out bush then a couple here beach front.

7.00 am 25 deg, Rainbow Beach looking north to Fraser Island. Got to love Queensland.

Dinner at Rainbow Beach Surf Lifesaving Club looking south to Double Island Point. 2 meals for $20 (£10), bargain.

Yep, got to agree with that one, but if you were talking ball sacs we’ll their the most softest of material. Made plenty of money pouches going there!

I can remember watching it with my son and after hearing about the firies running into the destruction to try and save lives he decided he wanted to become a fireman. Fast forward 10 years and he became the youngest captain in modern history for Qld fire & rescue. He has marched with the New York’s firies a couple of times to commemorate 9/11. He was part of International Rescue and flew into Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake to help with the recovery and retrieval process.
