You talk about L1 mid table obscurity and it's not unique for a club of Derby County's stature to get stuck in the 3rd tier for a number of years. It's probably defined by the circumstances of a clubs demise and the associated financial fallout. So in Derby's situation, 3,4 or 5 seasons in L1 is not beyond the realms of possibility. The owner might be taking a pragmatic approach and accepting this, hence being willing to give Warne a lot of time without too many expectations other than sustaining a mid table position and hoping for some good fortune in the future.

So now I can't understand why Clowes didn't give the job to Rosenior. He's willing to let us be abysmal under Warne under the belief he'll give us stability, and eventually promote us. A man who I don't think gives a monkey's for this club - he said he didn't care for our history. 
Rosenior who stuck with us through awful times, who had us playing some great football and some dull (not awful, just dull) stuff too. Why didn't Mr Clowes appreciate what he'd already committed to the Club and give him a chance?

Currently watching Wednesday Vs Rotherham, and the difference between the worst two championship team and us is stark. When I watch the prem, I ignore the quality of football as it might as well be a different planet. But even these two teams, bottom of the championship are playing what looks like brilliant football.
We have a long, long way to go.

If you ignore the excessive player wages, the expensive merchandise tat, grubby gambling sponsorship, etc. it can just about be classified as sport ........ but most definitely not elite.

No need for it, but the irony will be lost on NML when resumes normal (poor) service in the next game, and there after, most likely... 

I guess a big consideration when Mr Clowes recruited Warne was that he would be able to do good things on a meagre budget. Picking up a few gems in the lower leagues (inc L1) on affordable wages etc. If it works out, a manager can boast about success achieved via frugal investments.  Of course if things aren't so great, veiled comments about lack of funding are likely to be uttered.

To be honest, he just looks like a s*** Rod Hull. Doubt Emu would work with him anyway.

Yes, perspective certainly needed. Most would acknowledge that we've been generally poor this season (with the exception of the management). 

Yes 100% agree my disappointment this summer was that there were a number of quite nebulous statements from Warne about what our transfer budget was which ended up with us paying zero quid for any player.
I know that Warne wasn't expected to come out and publically broadcast how much money we had to play with but given the noises coming from club that we were no longer under EFL embargo then I was expecting at least some moderate fees of say 100 to 200k to have been shelled out.

Played decent enough, but Exeter must be the worse side I've seen for years.
I wouldn't get too excited over this result, better teams will not allow us to play like that.

I haven’t heard the interview, and frankly can’t be bothered to listen to it. I respect however @ziggazagga’s opinions, and he is fully entitled to make them. He and his son are paying good money to watch what has been a piss poor show since March. I am glad Barker (and Warne, and Mendez Laing), are hearing the noise, and might raise their games accordingly. One win against an ordinary Exeter side is nothing to get too carried away with, although the victory was welcomed. Let’s get a run of wins under our belt and then that would be the time for Barker to respond to the expectations of fans.
