Seems like a bit of copium at the moment, trying to reason with the fact we haven't signed anyone more exciting to play striker. This 20 goal+ talk will die down when we sign someone.

I disagree - I think it’s people just being reasonable about a forward who has a track record of scoring goals at this level. He’s a goalscorer - not a playmaker - and I’m sure if you asked him he’d tell you the same. I think the fact he took 9 games to get going last season meant a lot of people wrote him off - and then he was being unfairly compared with DM.

Would I also like another forward with explosive pace and power - Yes - but that’s in addition to, not instead of Collins.

How many league one goals not including penalties will he score is the way I look at it. If he gets 20 I'd be pleasantly surprised.

I’m not sure I understand this logic. If he scores he scores whether that’s from the spot or from open play they all count.

Didsy had 4 penalties in his 22 goals. They all count 👌🏻

understand why we get linked to loads of players and I understand why it's frustrating for fans when we don't sign players but if we signed seven or eight players today - what are you going to do for the next few weeks and talk about? You might as well enjoy the next few weeks and all that pre-season brings with it!

Love this comment to be honest - could be just amazing media/PR script and I’m sure some on here will be cynical - the first game league game is still some time away - and I would wager we will still be looking to add the final touches to the squad after that date (as will almost everyone else).

I for one am going to enjoy the roller coaster of the summer transfer window and all it brings!!

  4. But it can’t be … I mean everyone else is signing players and turning us down. All these top ITK folk are saying it’s true so it must be ….. please don’t try and provide any kind of rationale with irrelevant dates that doesn’t suit this forum. We all need to panic on missing out on everyone - I mean there’s literally no other players left in the whole world - and Didsy turned us down so we must be poo - I mean he chose Notts County over us FGS - wouldn’t mind if he was from there but………

I’m pretty relaxed over it all, end of the day, he’s not a player we should be relying on to play week in week out going into next season. We was extremely lucky to get what we got out of him last season, you can’t expect that again out of his legs.

Of course I would love him to stay, play a role, however I wouldn’t be devastated if he chose to end his career at the club he supports and where it all started, that’s something which money can’t buy.

In the same position, I’d probably join Notts County if I was him.

    Couldn’t agree more!!

  6. I’d love it if we (please post the obvious picture/gif)  got promotion this season. I would snap your hand off if you offered it me today.

As for next season, in my opinion we’d be fine. I honestly think there’s little difference in the abilities of the squad/starting 11 we have today compared with the one that we were relegated with. The one that we were relegated with would have stayed up save for the 21 point deduction - and I really don’t think the Championship has improved in quality that much. A promoted Derby - a team on the up -would be an attractive proposition for out of contract players and loan players.

I couldn’t give two sh’ts about the EFL reality/conspiracy theories - and everyone is welcome to their opinions. BUT show me one Derby fan who hand on heart - would watch us climb the steps at Wembley - and in that euphoric moment of the trophy being lifted would turn and say out loud “oh I wish this was a year later!!”   BS!!

I’ll try not to be too ambiguous in my views next time!!! 😝 🐏

Paul Warne won manager of the month, David McGoldrick won player of the month, both whilst at Derby and fairly recently.

If the EFL were against giving us any kind of award, explain that one.

Also explain why the club have said they have a very good relationship with the EFL.

….because those award are jinxed and we were destined for top two … so they did it to derail our promotion charge 😎😉😂

  8. No big deal…..we lost to a strong WH side in the cup - after being 19 games unbeaten!! I never want us to lose a game but if we’re going to get beaten and lose our run this was definitely the best game to do it in.

Not sure I understand all the negativity about Collins - look at the last 10 years of his career - he’s played League One and Two and the Championship - yet we expect him to outperform 3 PL centre backs. There’s a reason he’s not played at that level in his career  - but he’s a proven goalscorer at the level he’s currently playing at. He’s not got Didsy’s touch and offers a different option up top but he has scored 8 goals this season (so could yet end up well into double figures for the season) and some of those could prove to be very valuable contributions come the end of the year.

Fwiw I thought Max Bird was very poor against a PL midfield tonight - but that doesn’t mean he’s crap - he was just up against a higher class of opposition who outperformed him. Would I want him fit for our League One fixture against Morecombe on Saturday and feel more confident of A win with him playing - absolutely!!!!

Yep to true Dava, An over the top tackle(red card)taking our players shirt off in the penalty area, And a player in Morsey who had the referee in his pocket.

    All without a ball ?

Like I said, playing with aggression ….and in League One with the standard of referees you get away with it. Should have been a red all day long, not even a booking ?

  10. Was at the game last night. Ipswich were the best team without the ball that we have faced all season. Aggressive and sharp and so so quick to close down - giving our players no time to pick a pass and generally restricting our options - causing the panic and stray passes to happen both in defence and attack. I’d love us to press with that tempo but we just don’t have enough of the right kind of players presently. knight being out will definitely hurt us in this area.

I don’t think they were that great with the ball last night and didn’t create many clear cut chances - but they will be definitely up there come the end of the season because of the pace and aggression they have through out their team.

Disappointing but not really a surprise result. On to the next one….

So you claim he is first team standard here .... lets see whose judgement is right next season ??

Your judgement may yet prove correct - but the way you seem to take delight in one of our academy not hitting the mark is what comes across as lacking any class.

Be consistent with your view, you make very general sweeping statements about him - eg too small for CF in a Paul Warne side …..which when challenged you then slightly change the approach. If you’d said “he’s not overly tall, lacks explosive pace or trickery” that may seem a more reasoned assessment and underpin your view.

This forum is about opinions - and if you’re opinion is that he won’t make it as a consistent performer in Derby’s first team then that’s great - people will respect that. Just do us a favour and don’t make it appear that you take delight in him not doing that ??

He was not excellent and he didn’t take his goal well.

Didzy was excellent and his assist was brilliant. Won the ball and laid it on a plate to score.

??‍♂️??‍♂️  Beats the advancing keeper with one touch and it ends up in the back of the net…….. what did you want him to do exactly from the position he was in to take it well?

I have a view he is not good enough unlike some who wear rose tinted glasses.  I am on the other hand full of praise for Bird, Thompson, Knight and have reservation over Sibley but he is still better than  Sretton .

So I’ll ask again - do you want him to score goals and your view be proven wrong - or do you want him to do badly and your view be proven right?

Maybe they are banging the "Stretton is rubbish" drum with a bit too much gusto, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with criticising academy players. What's the alternative? We all pretend that every academy prospect is a world beater and ignore all evidence to the contrary?

I’m not pretending anything. A view is a view and that is up to each individual. None of us can truly know based on the limited evidence so far as to whether Stretton will be another Callum Ball or another Dean Sturridge. Clearly those who watch him day in day out training etc have recognised he needs more game time elsewhere for his development and that is why he is out on loan.

I would just like to understand whether MagicMan would prefer Stretton to do well or would prefer him to not do well to justify his view. The evidence of his posting on Stretton to date suggests the latter - but that could just be my perception -  and the truth might be that he would actually love Stretton to find form and bang the goals in and will be as quick to comment on his success on here. ??‍♂️
