It's more competitive than putting players into the under 23 team.
It'll generate a few more pound coins and increases morale as we win games.
What is not to like apart from the potential downside of an injury which is possibly just as likely to happen in training?
I bet if you ask players - do you want to have a training session or play a game.... I know what they say.

Yep, we’re never going to win the fa or league cup from league 1. A good cup run is fun, but ultimately never ends in victory, but we’ve got to be one of the strongest sides in this competition. We get to know what it feels like to be a Liverpool or Man City in a cup competition, steam rollering teams and smashing our way to the title (theoretically).
A lot of us weren’t alive in the 70s, so this could be the most realistic chance we get to see derby county win a trophy.

We should be trying to win this competition.  We’re probably never going to win the League Cup or win the FA Cup again, which our only other chances of Wembley are Play Offs which let’s face it this season we really don’t want (would love automatic).

Im fully behind this and bought a ticket for Tuesday

We’ve played well in the majority of games, from that point of view Rosenior should stay.
Its the players fault they can’t convert sitters. That’s not on the manager.

More concerned with the inevitable over reaction that’s coming from the fan base. We did everything right today, just zero luck. Another day we’d have bagged a handful.

A system that leads to 27 shots away from home. I’ll have that any day of the week.

Well another 90 minutes with the same stuff that didn’t work last season …. Rosenior wasn’t the answer last season he isn’t the answer this season …. no goals v Charlton Shrewsbury and now Fleetwood lucky win v Oxford
I don’t want to hear any garbage that that it’s only early in the season the system is the same garbage no imagination let’s keep playing the system that produces 0 goals
Im gonna say it now Rosenior to be replaced … so bad not one mention on Soccer Saturday
Maybe Lampard can return cause he ain’t gonna be in a job much longer where he is

Strangely, now we've been saved by St. David of Clowes, I'm really pleased, in the bigger picture, that we are now in Division 1.
Back to old school football. Back to being a big fish in a small pond.
We tried, under Mel to turn up at the casino that was the Championship with a big F off stack of chips to intimidate other players at the table. Spent fast and loose - and lost.
We needed a total reset and we got one. I can't lie, it's hurt. Being threatened with extinction was a very real prospect.
Now we've cleared the football cache and cookies, we're back to a fresh start.
I'm still haunted by the memory of all that money we wazzed up the wall. Even the least of the excesses was Anya. £4m and and £20k a week over 4 years, ergo £8m over 4 years. There were 4 or 5 others that cost £10m+ in transfer fees and salaries over 4 year contracts.
£60m minimum wazzed up the wall on 5 or 6 players, not to mention our merry go round of managers that resulted in the amount of debt that threatened our very existence. Covid didn't help, but the aforementioned was the real problem.
Certain individuals that had Mel's ear and were administrators at our club were also abusing their parallel self-interests as agents to sell us pup after pup.
Now we're back to football reality. It's amazing what team we've managed to piece together on frees and modest wages.
Loving our new reality. We can attract decent players at this level, where if we spend within our means, which is significantly above most of our competitors, we can perform well at this level.
If we continue in this manner, we can grow organically.
What's not to love? A fantastic academy that should finance our rebirth. 30,000+ crowds, that again should finance our rebirth and perversely the EFL reining us back to a financial plan that we absolutely NEEDED. Didn't want, but definitely needed.
Oh and being rescued by the 'quiet man of football' - DC.
What a time to be alive! I'm falling back in love with football again.
    The only way is up...

You see, we differ again. I can’t judge JS because I never saw any of his away performances and at home he had so few starts and just a handful of sub cameos. I can’t see how you can say “he’s failed” it’s just daft. Those on here who have seen a lot more youth football consistently say he is more than useful.

I agree we haven’t seen much in those 1st team appearances but the sample size is ridiculously small. Cybulski I’ve seen 3 times. In a youth game and then last season. I think he looks promising and it’s unusual with our kids, to have a youngster who isn’t a titch or a drink of water. His height could be very useful and I’ve liked the look of how he makes runs and makes himself available. Time will tell for both of them and this is the season to do it.

A minor point, but for the people moaning about letting Tom Lawrence "freeload" and train with us, while he doesn't have a club - players talk to each other, and having a reputation for being good to players is absolutely a benefit in encouraging other players to sign with us.

Exactly right, the fans can't take responsibility for Mel's reckless actions.
So if the fans had caught wind of his actions and kicked off, what would of it achieved. Mel couldn't admit he was wrong during his so called "apology". Does anyone seriously think he would of come out and said "Oops, sorry all, you got me red handed, I will back off the spending now" ?

It wasn't all sweetness and light last season either. He got himself a three match ban which resulted in 3 straight defeats and it could be argued stopped the momentum we'd built up which meant we failed to catch Reading.
Lawrence as has been said can be brilliant and had a better than average season last year but looking at, hopefully what is coming in today, I think we'll be fine without him.

Adding to our threadbare squad in this moment, days after a takeover was completed and the insolvency arrangements agreed in order to settle the debts, which in turn allows the club to continue functioning according to an agreed plan and with sensible restrictions in place rather than going bust….is not cause to be raising concerns in the media around our spending or questioning the goings on behind the scenes. It’s about the only time in years we should be resting easy with the approach the club is taking.
Derby are recruiting sensibly within the restrictions placed on the club, if we’re not we will be expelled from the league as per the EFL statement.

I was genuinely thinking yesterday that with Roberts being added to the list of potential targets we were starting to look elsewhere or keeping Davies hanging to see if we could do better.
Early test of Clowes and Rosey here, if Davies is let go there will be uproar.
From interviews he sounds like he wants a playing contract this year but would be open to moving into coaching after. Give him a 2 year deal with the second as player/coach (he'd still be okay as emergency back up) and test him out.
Alternately move him over to Rams TV in 2023, he would do really well there.

And unsurprising, since we started pre-season with the smallest squad ever. Even Arthur Cox inherited more players than Rosenior has, and back then the club weren't under any EFL restrictions.
It's still important that fans recognise, amongst all of the understandable euphoria, that this won't be a cakewalk.

I’m not fussed on his title but this does rather capture my thoughts.
After 4 years, taking the training, he’s done his badges and apprenticeship, everyone starts somewhere. He even has an edge that he’s worked with some of the players; best of all if the likes of CKR and specially Davies sign, they have his back as vocal presences in the dressing room.
It’s pretty much as good a hand, as many rookie managers get.

Well, we're not "in a state" as such anymore, we're debt-free and rebuilding. I agree that one being frozen out could be a problem (and Brighton might not like it if Rushworth doesn't play much) but it hasn't been a problem in previous seasons, when Roos was vying with Carson and then with Hamer and lately Allsop. If they've got the right character, they'll get their heads down and work together for the good of the team.
