He isn’t a fool, he’s instinctive and knows he lacks pace/acceleration. I think he’s gambling on that half stride as older strikers do ! Darren Bent anyone ?
I want to take my hat off to Collo. What a trooper, real gutsy striker. A 6 yard box man who isn’t intimidated by anyone and has added some sound defensive headers in to the mix. As others have said, he lacked service and support early season but NML and Wilson are giving him ammo and he’s using it. Funny thing is that he gets written down as a bit lumpy and lacking finesse. True up to a point, His first touch isn’t great, he struggles to beat a man 1V1, but there’s a deftness sometimes, more than one neat back heel when we up the tempo.
how many 20 goal strikers have we had recently ? Chrissy Martin, Steve Howard, Didsy. I think Collo might join them.
I remember a Journo (Times or Telegraph) saying “Steve Howard is an antediluvian striker with a shambling gait and right foot like a howiitzer” … Did ok for us. so is Collo.

I'll drop my opinions about Warne and how garbage the performance was for 70 minutes of that match.
Collo's goal was superb. He had zero service the entire game, ran his nuts into the ground yet again. One good cross and he got that brilliant volley in. What a player. I thought he'd be a broken man by now with that constant chasing down and battling. He got his rewards. Superb striker.

How anyone can say Collins isn’t a natural goalscorer is beyond me, what a finish that is 👌

Presumably he's acting under instructions. Warne insists on getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, I'm only listening to Radio Derby, but an incident sounded weird. Sibley apparently elbowed in the face, drawing blood. No freekick given. Sibs has lengthy treatment, yet despite this being an obvious head injury, is ordered to leave the field allowing Cheltenham to attack 10 men, Barks having to deputize as left back. And, to compound this, the referee would not let Sibley back onto the field for a long time. What is going on with the officials? How can they be so very poor?

When the ball was played to Hugill, he dummied Elder by making out he was going to stop and collect the ball, Elder went to stop and slipped a bit when he realised the dummy. Good play by Hugill all round

Thought we deserved a point though I agree with most that Peterborough were the better team. Their ability to move the ball quickly, accurately and with purpose only highlighted our inability to do it. Their front players were outstanding.
My only gripe, and maybe its just me, but I thought collectively it was the worst officiating I have seen this season; inconsistent, hesitant and one-sided. The referee allowed Peterborough players to fall over or just stop running and gave them free kicks - the other way round we got nothing. JJ was fouled a few times but, again, nothing. He had no choice but to give the penalty it was that blatant but I was still surprised that he did. And when, on at least two occasions, we don't get free kicks to then signal advantage as if we've been fouling? And don't get me started on the assistants, who were slow in their decision making and didn't seem to have much grip on when a ball is in or out of play. Dreadful.

Depends on your view on football I suppose. We sit in the third tier of the football league and are expected by some to deliver both results and "attractive" football. Personally you can put all the accountants stats in front of me you want, however I watch football without a book that tells me how it should be played and enjoy all types of football but winning comes first and foremost when I'm watching a team I support.
SM failed, his football was good but when we weren't winning during that streak, suddenly no plan B was labelled at him. In other words fans wanted us to change the way we played, results come over the entertaining football again.

nick_d reacted to G STAR RAM in Paul Warne Nomination - November Manager of the Month
The only logical conclusion I can reach here is that the panel don't have access to the following stats:-
Number of 'Warneball' passes per match
Number of crosses per match
Number of minutes given to players under the age of 21
xG per match
Likelihood of remaining in the Championship if we get promoted.
It really is like a trip back to the dark ages where people think scoring goals at one end and keeping them out at the other end are the things that win you matches.

I've got a really "out there" idea.
How about we use the matchday thread to discuss the match and take the other tedious debates over to other threads?
Don't suppose it will ever catch on!

Collins did everything that could reasonably have been asked of him tonight IMO. Didn't hesitate to shoot when he got sight of goal, got his shots on target, forced a couple of decent saves from the keeper, ran his socks off pulling the defence around. Maybe if he'd got that chance that JJ did, he'd have buried it too. But he didn't get a 1v1 with time to place his spot, and that wasn't his fault.
A pacey striker coming on with 20 minutes to go is what we've missed all season and, while Collins doesn't always perform, I couldn't fault him tonight. Give him credit for softening the defence up.

It should be operated similar to cricket and American football whereby the manager on the sidelines has a couple of challenges per half, which are retained if successful.

At the time it was initially announced I don't think anybody would have disputed giving it to him.
However as time has passed and with the the benefit of hindsight it appears it was emotionally charged idea.
Had he he still been at the club I would personally have advocated awarding it to him. It doesn't seem right now he no longer has any long term connection with the club.
Having said that I'm still personally thankful and have the utmost respect to him for the way he conducted himself at the time. He was immense in the way he held the club together.

Apparently there's some doubt over who gets officially credited with the third goal. Forsyth is adamant it's his, claiming it on the basis that it was over the line before Collins got there. I can see this being a boner contention.

The funniest thing was that first touch to take the ball down on the run was Messiesque.
Sadly, what followed was prime Peter Kay!

I thought that his chest was the better option. He only had to make the ball go forwards. If he'd tried to head it in it could have ballooned upwards instead of forwards.
