CBT doesn't need to 'replace' anyone, football is now a team game consisting of 15 outfield players playing over around 100 minutes. Ideally, we could do with one front line starting and another front line on the bench, ready to come on against a tiring defence. This already seems to be in Warne's plans as our subs have scored more goals than any other lg1 team this season, CBT will only improve these 15 players.

What about having all 3 games at Wembley, on the same day, with a 15 minute break between matches, an even better plan?😁

3 quality wide players in the match day squad, means one comes on 60-65 mins and is a nightmare for defenders. Hope we keep Barks, he is a confidence player and his recent goals will boost him.

Great news! Hope he kicks on now and settles into the side, scores a bag load of goals, and signs on the permanent in the summer 😎

Not such a daft idea at all in my opinion. You should be rewarded for your exploits over 46 games.
You could have a formula worked out whereby you have a 1 goal advantage for finishing 1 to 4 points ahead of your opposition, 2 goals for 5 to 8 and 3 goals for anything more than that.
It would maintain interest right to the end of the season because every point is valuable, target than making the playoffs and resting players, when they autos are out of reach.

I agree. I remember a fair few fans wanting to "bin" Curtis Nelson after the first three home games, but they don't seem to have learnt anything from that episode either.

Teams were always doing this against us last season and I hated it, but if you can't beat them, join them.
Personally, whenever there is an 'injury' and the physio comes on to treat the player, I would make the rest of the players go to the centre circle and allow a young 'waterboy' on to the pitch with bottles of water. Although, it wouldn't stop the break up of play, it would help to stop the tactical team talks with the manager.

Let’s not forget Wolves’ Portuguese “experiment” which got them promoted in the first place.
If you look far enough back, in 9 out of 10 promotions to the Prem, there will have been some form of significant financial or structural shenanigans which ultimately made the difference....

The EFL and football leagues around the world have, for over a 100 years, decided that 46 games or less have been enough games to fairly decide who is good enough to win championships, gain promotions or bad enough to suffer relegations.
At the end of the day, football league tables are just statistics and these are the statistics that decide where we play next season. What do you suggest, each season to last 5 or 6 years and 2 or 3 hundred matches, so we know who's truly the best and worst and who really deserves promotion and relegation?

That's the problem with not been allowed to pay a fee, last January we weren't allowed to spend 20p never mind £20k on a player. That stopped us from buying any player showing promise that was under contract, which is everyone in January, unless there's a mutual agreement to cancel the contract.

    or...
We're keeping our powder dry. Why pay more than we need to for a player that's out of contract at the end of the season?
When buying a house do you immediately go in at asking price?
and Burton fish in a different pool than we do - I don't think we've ever been both linked for the same player at the same time...

I think the fee is likely be shy of £600k but would make sense for Charlton to pack out the deal with future incentives, like a bank offering high interest rates.
Derby will probably throw £300-400k into the deal following promotion and not think twice, rather than pay that upfront now. If I was Charlton I’d be quite content with £300k upfront with a following £300-400k add ons for a player with one foot out the door.

Thanks GOC, these stats seem to back up my theory that we just sat back and contained the game in the second half, it would interesting to know the quality (the dreaded xg) of their chances in the second half, but that can be subjective.

Are yes, because of the infamous Germany v Austria fixed result, we ended up playing Germany in the second round group games. Because of this match, all following world cup tournaments had final group games played at the same time. I saw this game live on tv in Crete whilst England's final game was on over here. I walked out of the tv lounge in disgust after about 30 minutes, telling the German tourists that they were a bunch of cheating bar tenders. A low scoring win for Germany was required, for both teams to qualify and after they scored in 10 minutes, neither team went any where near the other's penalty area.
I'm still bitter about it, just in case you hadn't noticed.

What gripes me about this awful scandal is people at the top of the tree really think chucking financial compensation at the victims is the way to resolve the problem. Some of the folks affected are mentally ruined or even worse have ended their own lives over this disgusting farce. But here's a few quid to say sorry. Absolutely horrible.
This isn't specifically political, it's been happening for decades. Top brass on all sides are terrible at procurement, public money thrown down the bottomless pit. As per usual, they always pick the cheapest option and it doesn't matter about quality of the product. Happens in all sectors. Even in my workplace, once a contract runs out they'll always pick the lowest bidder and then chuck loads of cash at the problem for the next 5 years once it all falls to piece.
The difference here is the all parties involved refused to be accountable at it has destroyed lives. These folks were trusted members of local communities ruined by technology which they did not choose and their employer lying about the problems. People within the Post Office should go to prison for blatantly lying to government and their employees but of course that won't happen.

Yes...................................................if you could guarantee that Seddon played like that most weeks, but sadly, it seems that it was a bit of a one off performance from him (he's ranked at 219 on whoscored, com stats at a very average 6.57, even below our much maligned Korey Smith).
It's a bit unfair to call time on Elder, after all, he was only making his third start in an injury ravaged season, but then we love to slag off some our own players at the drop of a hat.

Dare I say, in the mad rush to apportion blame for everything, Burton's second goal was an absolute belter. When our cross went into their area Hugill was on the edge of his own box and was about the furthest forward Burton player. We had at least three players directly between him and the half way line.
If you look at the Burton player who comes away with the ball - he's facing and running towards (broadly) the west stand. As soon as he gets it Hugill is off in another direction - more towards the centre spot.
Elder, as the last man, is following the trajectory of the man with the ball and looking to cover that area, not realising at that stage that Hugill is running on his blind side and approaching his territory. As the ball is being played, he has to change direction, change his body shape, and try to get across to the ball. Plenty of times he might have managed that, but for two things.
Firstly it was an outstanding ball from the Burton player to Hugill, absolutely pinpoint and virtually the only spot he could have put it to allow Hugill a straight run on goal. Secondly, look at Hugill's first touch, it was sublime. Any element of close control, stopping it, scuffing it and Elder is on him, but his first touch takes it out of his feet and directly towards goal, giving him the run on Elder. Also, he started that run from the edge of his area as soon as possession was turned over. Brilliant play.
Yes we can ask questions about Elder (I thought he had a decent game tbf), and maybe Hourihane's positioning and movement if we want, but I just thought it was an outstanding bit of play by Burton. Good finish too.
