He looked solid yesterday. 21 is still a young age. Can’t believe people are slating him because he hasn’t ‘made it’ yet. Jamie Vardy played non league until he was 25. Ryan can come in and be a decent player for the u23s and probably a good squad option in the first team. Thought we learnt to never write players off after CKR

That truly appalling betting sponsorship is no more than God. The shirts yesterday carried a logo which is obviously some sort of interim measure and it was a statement rather than anything to offer financial benefit.
Is there anything in the pipeline?
Fwiw if its an outside business there is no way we will carry a betting sponsorship again.

@angieramand @Carnerosummed up the gist of what i was going to say. When Keogh was sacked, his appeal was heard by a football tribunal, not and Employment Tribunal. When Boro made their claim, the EFL said it had to be settled as a football debt, not through a Court of Law. Both Footballers and clubs might want to have things both ways, but either they're all football disputes, or they're all legal disputes.
I think it's also probably true that we're better off without carrying Byrne's wages and, given that we bought him for a small fee from Wigan, I'd have no issue if he left for a small fee, but there's a right way to go about it and neither he nor Buchanan have done that.

Based on Oduroh, I thought I would look at the other players who were released in the Premier League this season who could be of a similar standing.
Joel Lopez - 20, LB | Arsenal - Once regarded as a  huge talent, another that Arsenal stole from Barcelona's academy. He played a lot of their U23 side last season mostly as left back, but did play as a left midfielder. A player who would be very much worth a look, but could have interest in Spain.
Thierno Ballo - 20, AM | Chelsea - A good record in academy football. Went out on loan to Rapid Vienna last season and played a bit. Austrian youth international. Again, could have options elsewhere but seems to have decent pedigree and available as of right now.
George McEachran 21, CM | Chelsea - The young brother of another Chelsea prospect that never made the cut. George has been regularly selected by the academy managers for a long time now. Not a position of need, but again, he's a player with pedigree. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in L1 or the Championship on a small 2 year deal somewhere.
Charles Musonda 25, LW | Chelsea - An experienced academy dropout. A number of loans, including Celtic and Real Betis, but never really stood out anywhere. No idea what he has lined up, but would be a smart pick up if he's not asking for the world.
Lewis Gibson 21, CB | Everton - a player with a lot of pedigree, but had injury issues. He was on loan with Sheff Wed last season and didn't play too often due to medical problems. He was at Reading  the season before that in the Championship. I don't have a clue how bad his injury issues are, but a player with pedigree - albeit not in a position of need.
Elijah Dixon-Bonner 21, CM | Liverpool - I noticed his name as he played in the FA Cup third round for Liverpool's first team. He actually played really well in that game. Dixon-Bonner isn't a name you miss. I think he could potentially have offers elsewhere, and like the others, not really a position of need, but one to keep an eye out for if he comes to our level.
A lot of names, not many I've heard of on the list. No doubt that some of them will come up against us next season and look the part.

Promising first half, but let’s not get carried away. He was unimpressive second half. Can’t remember him touching the ball; went hiding in fact. It’s a no fun from me. Boo.

Byrne's one of those journeyman professionals. At the time he and we profited from Wigan's misfortunes. Now he and someone else will profit from ours. He was a decent enough player when we needed a right back, but this will prove his loss as much as ours.
I like that there are players coming here talking about the special situation and atmosphere of the club, and it gives me confidence that good times aren't that far away. If Byrne wants to remain a journeyman and not be a part of something special, he can leave and be instantly forgotten.

Ram a lamb a ding dong reacted to Millenniumram in Curtis Davies - signed 1-year deal
Absolutely fantastic news to get Davies contract renewed. Proved last season he’s still a damn good Championship player over a full season, which is amazing at his age. Could’ve easily got a Championship contract as a squad player. But he decided to stay here, play football, and try to achieve something - because that’s the sort of man he is. A true Derby hero in my eyes for what he’s given the club over the years, in difficult times. One of my favourite Derby players ever.
Will be an unreal defender in League One, even at his age. Can rotate him, Chester and Cashin to keep everyone fit. Really don’t see where Roberts fits in now though, with Stearman as emergency cover.

There are stars and legends, every club has them at every level of the game. Curtis is one of ours. In this modern era of money, contracts, agents and media hype it is hard to be an individual rather than a commodity. Curtis for me has gone to another level. Lasts seasons marathon efforts with everything against us he stood tall and strong in the darkest of days. Quite possibly in 50 years of watching football I don’t think I have ever seen a player with such integrity and sportsmanship. I almost don’t care if he plays again, just being there as a talisman for what is right about sport is enough - sure he wouldn’t agree because he wants that shirt on, whoever or wherever we are playing because doing it right with everything he has is what he does.
    Nice one CED

I agree. We should launch an all out assault to win the Papa Johns Trophy.
Sunderland and Rotherham have both won it in the last two years and look where they are now!
    Coincidence? I don’t think so.
