I think Rosenior spoke about using a 3-box-3 (basically a hipster name for 3-4-3) when Rooney first got the job permanently. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gives this formation a go from the start of our next match.

Chester and Cashin would need to cover some wide areas and NML and Barkhuizen would need to be able to work hard in defence and attack.
Knights energy in the double pivot with Hourihane should get the best out of both of them with Bird  coming on to replace any of the midfield four and Knight moving to cover where needed. Smith also could fit in any position in the four and offer some physicality.
McGoldrick and Sibley would be a nightmare to defend against with Collins being a focal point. Dobbin could also play in either of these slots.

I have to say I was impressed with Chester. 3-5-2 with Knight allowed to play in the middle. Finally some control in the middle. Same again please.

Must’ve had a read of the forum post Lincoln game, we’ll all take some credit when it pays off, if it doesn’t nowt to do with us.

This looks suspiciously like a plan B!

NML off the bench could be a master plan

We should’ve gone 5 at the back on reflection and put Rooney in there unless he can play CDM, poor substitutes on replacement and naive defending from Knight and Cashin, we’re learning, tough lesson today.

Are we playing him out of position to previous clubs?

This is obviously just my opinion but based on what I have seen in every game this season 
the new manager is trying to shoe horn some of the players he signed into the side despite them not looking very good.
Collins - he is a worker but as we have seen he doesn’t hold the ball up but then again we haven’t got any midfield runners, feel sorry for him at times
Roberts - he is ok but is he a better choice than Forsyth in this league - I don’t think so and I hope we haven’t signed one of those loans where he has to play a certain percentage of games 
Hourihane - good left foot but he can’t use it in combination with his right to run very far which puts him in a similar bracket to Bird and you shouldn’t have both playing together because the opponent are all over them.
Smith - nice little worker but with not an adventurous player is he so when selected with Bird and Hourihane we are not going past the centre circle 
Barkhauzen - has done fine but looks to be the fall guy to drop to the bench 
mendiz Lang - he has always been hit or miss and well worth selecting but I doubt he will ever finish a 90 minute game 
we can play a midfield that is mobile and competitive but at what point will we?
anyway I hope they go out in the second half and do much better 

I do partly agree about the midfield being disjointed but I think they’re expecting to walk all over teams with doing very little running. We’re everyone’s cup final in this league and we’re being massively outworked.
