If we only have the opportunity to bring in 1 signing I hope it is Blackett-Taylor. This is building for the next few years, not another 30+ year old. Collins is doing enough this season along with the back up of JJ. CBT would bring much needed attacking threat to aid the strikers.

So far we've got Collins and a lad that can play for about an hour at best. Why do you think we've got enough?

We're a Collins injury away from having nobody up front.

Plus Collin's hold up play is pretty poor so is his aerial ability. Smith is better in that aspect.

Collins is a goalscorer. Needs to stay between the posts

Most League 1 players frustrate the fans at some point, bar Cashin that is. If they were mistake free they would be in the Prem, although many players there, can’t do the basics.

Spot on mate. You won't find a consistent winger in league one and if you find one in the championship they are likely to get snapped up.

We are a league one side. Who honestly do people honestly expect us to sign? I can't fathom it.

These are the same people who didn't want us to sign Jordan "currently the top scorer in league one" Rhodes.

We're a league one side, with a league one budget. Some of our fans need to realise that.

Are there any remaining restrictions that could be/would be hampering our ability to be able to sign players at this point?

It is very concerning to hear that we essentially don't have any money to spend. Why is this the case, at this point, if there are no further restrictions?

Have we spent a fee on any player since David Clowes bought the club?

Who's said we've got no money to spend?

Clowes took over last year where we weren't allowed to spend money on transfer fees, even if we could.

Have it on good authority that the 2 main targets are Dobra and CBT, but finances are difficult so unless some leave (Smith,Sibley etc) we aren’t getting them, and then it’ll be youngsters on loan and more than likely nearer the end of the window we see movement. Sorry to be a downer

So we haven't got the money to bid for CBT or anyone? But Blackett-Taylor was at the training ground on Monday?

Happens all the time nowadays. No such thing as tapping up these days.

Tapping up is contacting them before you speak to the club to see if they'd be open to a move.

Not a chance is he going to drive from London to Derby to have a look round a training ground at a club who hasn't even agreed anything with his current club yet.

Sure I saw somewhere BT said he had been shown round the training ground?

He's under contract at Charlton. There is not a chance he's been shown round Moor Farm on Monday. Unless he's signed. Which if he had been shown round Monday he would have been announced by now.

I'm sure he'll be in Charlton's line up on Saturday which will subsequently pour cold water that he was at Moor Farm.

This has happened recently when he goes to a back 3 and has just 2 in central midfield.

When he changed to playing effectively 433, we had the extra man ( even if it was Smith) sat in front..this stopped us being overrun in midfield.

I would like to see a 433 when everyone is fit..with Bird, Thompson and a new CM sat in front.

I think we need 3 new players..CM, Winger( Blackett Taylor??) & Centre Forward...

                       Wildsmith

    Nyambe    Nelson   Cashin   Forsyth

                           NEW CM

               Thompson        Bird

    Mendez Laing            Blackett Taylor

                             NEW CF

I think the main reason he's gone to a back 3 is because we haven't got an out and out right back. Playing Wilson there essentially takes away his biggest threat which is running with the ball and taking players on and being an attacking threat in the final third and Joe Ward basically can't defend. So neither are suited to playing as a right back in a back 4. But are ok playing as a wing back. When Nyambe is back we'll have more of an option to play a back 4.

I still think there's a player there with Fornah. He's just too laid back and has too many touches. He shows glimpses of what he can do. But there are times he needs to release the ball quicker, but this will need to be coached in to him. I wouldn't write Fornah off just yet. Elder I think will come good, but he is going to need a run of games. He's never gonna be able to get up to speed if he's in and out and until he has a proper run. I won't judge him.

One of the benefits of playing a 3 at the back is the fact we play 2 up top. Since that Collins has been scoring and that's no coincidence. Anyone with eyes can see he's not lone striker. All his goals at Luton came in a 2.

    Transfers, something just seems off

I didn't read too much into that to be honest.

I thought it was pretty tongue in cheek when he said obviously it's not going that well cos he hasn't got new players stood next too him.

He's probably frustrated because he said at the start he wanted players in early so I'd imagine he's frustrated nobody is in yet.

Close to a couple sounds positive. My money is on Callum Lang and Ollie Arblaster as the two.

He’s the kind of player that I’d want here and I think would do really well here. The Vale fans rave about him, seem to think he’s the best loanee they’ve ever had. The article linked in the tweet is worth a read if you can navigate the ads.

I doubt he would be one beyond half a season though. Sheff Utd are down, if we were in their position, he’s the kind of player I’d want to start integrating into the team ready for next season. Osula gets decent minutes in the PL for them and didn’t exactly shine in League 1, if Arblaster did as well as he did, then I’m sure SUFC could feature for them too.

    I agree with you here.

I think the fact Leigh Curtis has gone to the trouble of speaking to someone at the Port Vale end and running a whole article on him would make me think that there's something in this.

He got injured against Boro on the 19th December and they think he'll be out for a month. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him come in before the Lincoln game.

  10. Some people on here are pretty harsh on Collins tonight. Not sure what game some are watching if they think he played poorly.

Chased absolutely everything down. Couple of lovely touches. The one chance we created for him. He scored from.

Doesn't matter who's upfront in this team with the service they get. Some of the crosses from Barkhuizen were a hate crime. He did everything I'd want my centre forward to do. Worked his arse off, led the line, had one chance and took it. Fully deserved his goal.

Thought the first 10 minutes of the first half we couldn't get going, but credit to Lincoln for starting on the front foot. But after that I thought we took control and deservedly took the lead.

Can't legislate for Ward giving that penalty away. But it just highlights for me what I knew. He's not an out and out right back. But it gave Lincoln a massive lift and they came out second half and started well again. But again after 10 minutes we took control and deservedly won.

Wildsmith hasn't had a save to make and other than a really good block from Cashin, they never troubled us.

I heard one fan moaning outside the ground that it's not "sexy football". Hate to break it to you mate but sexy football doesn't exist in this league. It's all about winning and getting out of it.

Much better performance than Saturday. Big win against a decent side.

I honestly think people are disappointed not to see us play teams off the park for 90 minutes. Which is never going to happen.

Wilson did well when he came on. Nelson and Cashin outstanding.

Get to January in touching distance of the top and we've got a great chance if we can strengthen well.

    Up The Rams!

Merry Christmas to you all. Hope you and your families have a good one.

  11. Firstly I'm not scapegoating anyone at all. This team is the team I would pick if everyone is fit tomorrow. Based on performances recently.

                      Wildsmith

       Nyambe Nelson Bradley Elder

                   Fornah Smith

                           Bird

              Ward.    Collins. NML

Cashin is going in January. We all know it and so does he. We've got a centre half on the bench who's helped take a team like Luton to the prem. Give him a chance. Forsyth I thought was pretty poor on Tuesday and he hasn't got the legs for left back 3 times in a week.

We need legs and energy in midfield. I think Fornah has been pretty good since he has come in. He was obviously poor against Shrewsbury. Got taken off at half time and never to be seen again. I think it's harsh.

I've seen more than enough of Bird and Hourihane together to know that it doesn't work. Hourihane needs legs around him because it's pretty evident he can't run. He's even said himself at the fans Q&A having Thompson and Bird around him to do the running helps him a lot.

It's not the greatest choice of who plays up front. But if Collins just stays in the box and Ward can whip some decent balls in then that is what Collins should thrive on.

NML said after Exeter he likes playing on the left so he can cut in. So I'd be tempted with that.

    We'll win 3-0.

  12. I hate seeing managers sacked. I just think stability is needed sometimes. I've always wanted Warne to do well and get us out of this league.

I'm really not too fussed about the style of football in this league. For me it's about getting out of it by any means necessary. Under Billy Davies the football was, in the main, dire. There were so many games where we'd win by a goal and you'd come out thinking "How on earth have we won that" but we won. Which is fundamentally all that really matters.

When you aren't winning games, the football gets called into question. Whilst it's out first defeat in 10. The form is poor and has been for the last 7-8 months. This squad should be beating teams like Cambridge, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham comfortably.

What worries me is Warne coming out yesterday saying there wasn't much in it? Yes I know their keeper made a few saves, the one from Nelson being a good one. But Wildsmith also made a fair few. Not to mention the one where their player cut in and pulled it wide when it looked easier to score and the one where there striker cut in and all he needed to do was pass it into the corner and for some reason he cut in again. But really there should be a lot in it. That squad we had yesterday is a bloody good squad at this level and they should be cutting teams open like that. Listening to Warne yesterday it honestly felt like he'd not watched the same game as I did. Because that was absolutely woeful. To a man they were pathetic.

We've won 11 games the last 30. 4 wins in the last 14 home games.

In the Championship that wouldn't really be good enough. In this league with this squad. That is borderline unforgivable.

Saw a tweet earlier which said this "Really wanted it to work for warne but think we are getting to a Clough ,Stevie Mac situation where someone comes in tweaks it a little and off we go"

I can't help but agree with it. I think Warne is out of his depth here. This club is a big club with an expectation that we win every game in this league (obviously I know we won't) but the football we are putting on is not giving me any excitement, not making me think he can turn it around.

I'd see how he does up until the next international break in mid November and if we haven't won at least 3 out the next 4 games then I'd make a change.

  13. I'd be amazed if this was Bristol Rovers. Their transfer record is about 390k I read.

Peterborough, according to their chairman, want the £1.6 million back they paid for him. There isn't a chance Bristol Rovers can pay anywhere near that.

Also not really sure why JCH at 29 and the last chance for a relatively big contract would move to a smaller club with less chance of a top 6 finish.

I think he'll end up in the Championship.

One positive is that it makes one of our rivals for the top 6 considerably weaker.

Not massively keen on recall deals, as if he beasts it, they could then recall and loan him to a championship team

Hopefully it's one of those where all these parties have to agree.

  15. If we are trying to sign say Ladapo & Vaulks but there are hurdles to overcome. As in Ipswich and Sheff Weds need to sign a replacement before they let Ladapo/Vaulks go (at the time of Barker's interview Scarlett to Ipswich wasn't announced)

Sheffield Wednesday have put loan bids in for Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick. If that gets done then you'd think that would free up Vaulks.

Barker has rightly tempered expectations by stating we have a couple of irons in the fire. Which would make sense for both of the players above. But we are relying on their clubs signing replacements before they go. Which obviously Richie Barker cannot guarantee.

So rather than coming out saying yes we will definitely have two in (then if it fails the meltdown of some of our fans will be epic) he has said look we've got a couple of irons in the fire. Might happen, might not.

And also quite rightly that unless they improve us when the injured players are back and we have a full squad then there's no point.

I think Vaulks and Ladapo would improve us.

But failing that and we don't sign anyone. Warne has already said he could utilise the free agent market.

    Let's see what happens.
