The more I look into it the more I like this signing.
27 years old, plenty of experience at this level and been a regular this season too as well achieving promotion last season. On a free in the summer so if he impresses off the pitch then a good chance we sign him permanently. 
Not sure there are too many other GKs we could have brought in, with the potential to sign permanently with this type of experience including this season.

I still think we will see a striker and potentially a keeper come in, as Warne has said, it all tends to happen towards the end of the window and its clear from his comments that clubs are now starting to take what they can to get rid so we can compete abit better.

Clearly McGee for whatever reason wasn’t signing a new contract at FGR and they are probably looking to save money towards their pending relegation. Ferguson probably has a blank sheet to build his own side and just like Warne, wouldn’t want anyone aboard who doesn’t want to be there. 
I would think that the reason it’s loan is to keep any permanent signing off this seasons Accounts and also gives Warne a few months to validate his thoughts on a permanent deal in the summer - we need cover now Anang has gone - it suggests this works for all parties for the time being.

I reckon we're having to wait for everyone else to have their pick - a few have gone out so it makes it easier to see who is left for us. A striker is what we need.

But take 3 key players out of that squad with injuries, say Cashin, Knight and McGoldrick, and we would be in big trouble. Think we need a right back and striker at the very least…

That was Carl Edwards who joined from Rotherham, heading the first team’s analysis department.
He replaces Ben Warner/Pete Shuttleworth who left earlier in the season to Hull and D.C. United, respectively.
This guy (Ross Burbeary) joins from Lincoln City, replacing Luke Jenkinson.

Re: Dobbin. People have to be realistic (I know - ridiculous). If he were some kind of superstar wonder kid and/or ‘the finished article’ he wouldn’t have been sent to League 1. What he lacks in finishing he more than makes up for in overall contribution.  He’s doing well. He’s developing. Give the kid a break (I know, another ridiculous comment).

It’s been driving me nuts for weeks/months! Yes, his finishing is poor at times undoubtedly, but he works hard for the team and has attributes that help us. He’s contributed goals and assists in the team and has missed chances too, same as Barkhuizen, Mendez-Laing, Collins, McGoldrick, Hourihane etc etc yet he gets unfairly slated by people in my view. 

Sitting here watching the game saying “Martin would have scored that” out loud after every chance
By my calculations we’ll win 12-0 most weeks. Something for the Martin-doubters to think about.

Sure we’re better with McGoldrick - he’s probably the best player in the league. But PW seems to be using him selectively to try to get an entire season out of him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench tomorrow - and for him to stay there if we’re leading by a couple 

Both our strikers are far from young. It makes sense to use them in a balanced way. It also keeps the opo guessing. Mc G is hugely polished and dangerous but Collins is a rough tough old soldier and very useful in away games.
