DRBee got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Derby v Shrewsbury Town - Match Day Thread
No-one wants to give Warne credit - just garbage. Like the vast majority I was well pleased with the post -Stevenage improvement. But by focussing on points scored you can skate over the fact that the original faults have been evident in quite a few games we have won and have not gone away. Faults like our excess caution , the predictability that comes from the repeated playing down the wings and limitations of playing one up front most of the time remain and are down to the manager. Not sure if you go to games but its depressing to travel a long way to the match only for us limply to concede an equaliser in the closing minutes, which has happened quite a few times recently. I think our squad is good but Our defence has a good record but these late goals are often conceded after substitutions supposed to enable us to see out the game.

So all this about Shrewsbury successively stopping us playing: Once Paul Warne made the changes at half time, we started the second half on the front foot and were "tearing them a new one", and the goal was pretty inevitable. So having showed we could score, the obvious thing is to carry on and score one or two more to make the game safe. So what did we do? We took our foot off the gas (as observed by the Shrewsbury manager as to the reason that his team were able to get a point). Why the hell did we sit back? ................... AGAIN. Yesterday wasn't the first time we've pulled this stunt, and it isn't the first time that doing it has resulted in points thrown down the swanny. Trying to defend a one goal lead for 30 minutes is absolutely stupid. People say that the players should bear some responsibility for the result, but they are only playing the way that Warne wants them to play and instructs them to play. Hourihane said earlier in the season that if you want to play, you have to play Warne's way.
We showed yesterday that we were way more than capable of getting a convincing victory, but chose not to, erring on the side of caution in case we got rolled over by a side that had only scored 6 away goals all season. Good grief! The players actually did well enough given the straightjacket they have to wear while playing in a Warne-team. Someone has checked how may times we have conceded late on in a match, and it has cost us between 7 and 9 points - an that is only points dropped to late goals. We could, AND SHOULD be several points clear at the top confident of going straight up automatically. Instead we are looking over our shoulder wondering whether we are going to get caught by anyone else. Heaven help us if we do miss out on the automatics, because I personally don't think Warne is the manager to get us through the play-offs.
I shall still be there on Saturday, and the support will still be there until what the fans are having to endure have has vacuumed all the will to live out of them.
PS we are only second in the table because most of the other teams aren't capable of getting above us. All it means is that we are the second least worst team in the league. Some accolade.

DRBee reacted to LN747 in How do we change it up if needed
What about promoting one of u20 whatever’s - Weston , Brown etc . Would need a plan B way of playing as they’re not Collo
Do the club not trust them? you don’t always know what you’ve got till you throw them in - has Weston or Brown even played in the league yet?
Lots of other teams seem to blood young talent, and we have in the past

DRBee got a reaction from europia in Has DC lost faith in the recruitment process?
Don't believe Clowes will be micromanaging the building of the team as your post suggests.
Its not a case of players not working out but that the strategy doesn't meet the main needs. There is a clear need for another striker. having o nly one regularly fit competent striker takes us back to the problems we had when under EFL sanction, when we are /should be in a much better position to acquire new players now. Admittedly Collins is doing well but we need cover if we are undertaking a promotion push. We had the same striker issue last summer and have learnt nowt from that.

Oh dear.
Initials not acronyms.
I thought you'd enjoy a tedious debate. You've made this one tedious already

In the end we will be damaged far more by Warne's tactics and team selection than the failure to secure another striker.

Is that Didzy who was going to re-sign? And Knighty who he made look poor, so that many Derby fans thought he was as bad as Birdy seems now?!
During most of Warne's spell at Derby I don't recall very much good team play for a whole game, just flashes and then moments of individual play.
Didzy lit up last season and kept the light off Warne.

He never takes responsibility. If we perform poorly it's players below par, losing their battles, not doing the basics.
I don't buy it - one week Bird can pass a ball and the next week he can't? Yes players will make mistakes within a game, misplace a pass, let their man go, lose a tackle - but if it isn't working for them consistently within a game it's probably not them but something within the game that the manager could change.

DRBee got a reaction from Comrade 86 in Does Warne deserve the vitriol aimed at him?
You clearly unfairly prefer to reserve your vitriol for individual players , who are actually prisoners of the way Warne selects the team , the formation and tactics he employs. ( judging by some of your posts in other threads). Perhaps vitriol towards players is not a good idea when there is still much to play for and given the limited choices we have.

Response to the moronic posters who say on here Hourihane brings nothing to the team. Warne's verdict is a bit different

Important but not the only consideration. Opponents tend to double or treble up on him leaving spaces elsewhere. He is also exciting which is something lacking in the rest of the team. For me above average league 1 player and the more we have of these the better our chances

Think it would have been better to give minutes to some yoof players. When else will they get chance now? Seems worse having brought the "big guns" on and then lost

Hardly. Short memory ?
We are poor at defending set pieces.

Good to read a sensible post........those negative hand-wringers and haters of their own players seem to have forgotten the positives of the unbeaten run. OK we made mistakes today but could still have easily avoided losing. Our defending in the last few minutes has proved fragile before.
