Well that was absolutely dreadful, pathetic, embarrassing etc etc from us. The worst performance we have put in for a long time which is pretty much the thoughts of the entire fanbase.
We set the team up with players playing out of position, despite that the lack of clear plan or seemingly effort was staggering and something I am not used to under our manager. We usually try and press high, but today we didnt do that or sit back with any sort of organisation. We did nothing but allow your players unbelievable amounts of space to just waltz through and around our team time and time again. As for Tyreece Simpson the less said the better, if you are not going to try at least try and buy a foul or something, but alas to no avail. The whole squad and manager come away with zero credit from that shambles.
I do remember this is a Derby forum though, not a Northampton one! You can only play who is in front of you and you took us to pieces, it could and probably should have been 6 or 7. We didnt handle your pace well, you had players on the half turn which we were unable to intercept or get near. Also all the finishes were tidy finishes which I felt our no keeper had any chance. Realistically we looked like a poor L2 side there, let alone a L1 side.
Anyways, all the best for the rest of the season, see you back here for the reverse fixture. I hope you pick up some form and get up the table, hopefully we get some players back from injury and can scrape enough wins to survive.

It would be foolish to suddenly think everything is rosey again after one performance.
But if tonight was anything to go by then maybe Warne has got the ability to change, adapt and improve us. That was the first time I think I’ve really enjoyed watching us this season. Let’s kick on now and go on a run! 🐏

As I say, it’s easy to say with hindsight but not many can have reasonably foreseen the appointment of someone considered a bit of a league one promotion expert as an horrendous error at the time. The bookies certainly didn’t seem the think so and, whilst I can’t be bothered to go back through the forum, I suspect there weren’t many of us who thought so at the time. Some may have had doubts, some may have been concerned about his style of football and his ability to keep us in the championship but I doubt many considered it an “horrendous” error. Even now, if DC’s expectation and budgeting were based on us getting promoted within three years (none of us really know), he may be disappointed but not yet considering it an error to have appointed PW. I just hope PW and DC talk about and can see how we’re going to improve because I don’t think many of us fans can at the moment.
Regarding making DC pay, you phrased it as you wanted him to be punished (as I read it). I’m not saying PW shouldn’t be sacked but, if he is, we can’t expect DC to keep dipping into his own pocked and I would expect some of the compensation would have to come out of the clubs reserves and future transfer budget (assuming we have built some up).

How do you propose the man who stepped in and saved our club (a hero in your own words) should pay for his "horrendous error"? An error (if that is what it turns out to be) is easy to see in hindsight. Was it really such a horrendous error at the time to appoint a manager with three league one promotions out of three attempts? We all know PW doesn't have a good record of keeping teams in the Championship but, without the benefit of a crystal ball, it was probably reasonable to assume that he knew how to get teams promoted.

A slightly misleading stat as 3 of those games were against lower league opposition in the cup. If you look at league only defeats then LR lost 33% of his games whilst PW only lost 24% last season and 27% in total (if my maths are correct).

Some (so called) supporters are verging on hysterical in their attempts to get Warne sacked. Will we never learn? How many times must we go down this road of appointing, losing patience, sacking a whole team of coaching staff at great expense to start the cycle off all again. If you can’t support the Club just 14 months after near extinction, even if in gratitude to David Clowes then frankly I think you should stay away (put politely)

I am grateful for him stepping in for his company to buy the club. I think the time has come for him to sell at least a controlling share to bring in new investment. In football terms he hasn’t made good decisions and is holding the club back. In long or even medium term, fans rarely make good owners, that has certainly been the case at Derby.
The potential of the club is a great opportunity for investors to get a good return, particularly if we can get back to the Premier. I would hope that feelers are being put out for potential buyers / investors. I doubt it though, but if that was the case, we may as well hang on to our inept manager & his coaching team until a new owner gets shot if them.

Clowes seems to see himself as a custodian, not an owner, in the MM mould. I'd be pretty confident his MO will be to ensure that the club is now run within its means, even after the business plan term elapses. He deserves better really, but we all know that's not necessarily how life pans out.

They're certainly better than team performances and league position would indicate.
But any assessment will just turn this topic into yet another "Warne Out" thread.

I agree perhaps BT can confirm if a meeting really did take place. As to “how long” (if a meeting did take place and that was the decision arrived at) I can’t really see such detail being divulged. All we’d probably get is the infamous vote of confidence with the finer details of how long for being kept secret.

Unless there's a cunning pot of money under DC's mattress, PW and his staff are likely going nowhere;  this season at least. We've definitely got a top 6 squad, maybe even top 2 but not playing this style of football. Unless anything changes, it's mid table mediocrity for us. We look a bang average (at best) L1 team.
PW is a decent bloke. The problem, I think, is he has a set of beliefs about how the game should be played, so deeply ingrained, he's unable to change. It's change we need.
    It's all very depressing.

More than anything I think I'd like to see us get a more dedicated director of football in place. Somebody who can better guide the trajectory of the club's development  all round from a playing perspective.

if they all leave the squad will just get continually worse, and we'll be stuck in league 1 for a long time.

What most pleased me when I read the OP was who had posted it. @i-Ram has been very vocal on his thoughts about Warne. He does however recognise that David Clowes made a football decision with the best of intentions. Hindsight is wonderful as always. I am sure that he is more frustrated than an other supporter (even B4!), but he will surely be trying to achieve the best for the club within the financial constraints that are in place.

I don’t know if we should be concerned or not. It’s a tricky one for him as he, no doubt, doesn’t want to appear trigger happy (we’ve been there, done that) but he will probably want to be seen as decisive when necessary.
Given the “almost” season we had in his first year DC was probably never going to sack PW last season. This time, he’s probably as disappointed as we are with the lack of improvement but we’re not completely adrift of the play offs just yet. Does he twist or quit?

I wouldn’t say he’s “not budging on the Warne mistake” yet. For all we know he might be ready to sack him once he’s figured out who would step in as caretaker? He might be ready to sack him once he’s sorted out the likely financial impact. He might have a specific triggers in mind for example, more than x points outside the play offs at y point in the season. He might even be thinking we need to be firmly in the play off positions, as a minimum, in year three for all we know.
