Sibley is so evidentally miles better than anyone else on our team. If Rooney isn't going to play him every single second he's fit then sell him for me. Deserves loads better than this circus.

Curtis and Andre in a double sort ‘contract extension’ esque announcement. Maybe on Friday.
Actual newbie wise, I think Morrison and baldock will be announced the same day. Maybe early next week.
Followed by jagielka, stearman and aluko when we can. Then Carroll, mengi loan and a random unknown exciting signing come end of august. That’s my random thoughts I’ve just made up on the spot.

We were forced to play by the FA, not the EFL, fielding a team of kids, some of whom will likely never play professional first team football ever again. It smacks of someone in the EFL pouring over rule books at 3 in the morning desperately trying to find something else to throw at us.   I think this time though, even a number of other clubs have gone "Come on guys, enough's enough".

Actually, if you imagine a back three of Davies, Jagielka and Mengi, you would lose very little in the air, you would have two great organisers of the younger players and Mengi's pace to cover behind them.
That's of course if they can stay fit.
You could afford to let Byrne and Buchanan press on and you would need Knight and Shinnie to protect them against deep runners, but if we can find the right front three, it might be a solid team.
We rarely looked like getting hammered last year. We had quite a lot of possession. We just had nothing up front.
    That's our priority area.
The guys we have are good subs but not sufficient goal threats.

Surely the disadvantage inflicted on the club by a 2 year embago (almost relegated) far exceeds any perceived 'advantage' we have derived from overspending (promotion thwarted by clubs who have bent the rules to a far greater extent than ourselves without punishment).
There have been so many changes of attack by the EFL, it is plainly a vendetta.
It's all been said before but it irks me that they plainly make things up as they go along. Now the rule about selling stadia. The only thing that surprises me about that is that it doesn't have a date retrospective to when ours was sold.
As for penalising clubs for taking advantage of (legally) submitting accounts late due to COVID, when they did the same thing themselves just highlights the double standards they apply.
I hope that MP, who someone on the forum wrote to, recommends an investigation into the machinations of the EFL.

Unless that advantage was being one of the top 3 spenders on wages in each of the seasons being looked at we haven’t pished it anywhere.
We’ve ran an (unsustainable) wage bill that has probably ranged from top 4 to top 10 in the division and have more often than not been a top 6 team in that time period. Few unlucky defeats in play off games to teams that have spent more than us / have gamed the system to a greater extent than we have (delete as appropriate) has meant we haven’t gone up, so be it. When football comes down to one off games it can at times be luck based and that’s why we all love it. We’ve now tightened that wage bill, understandably, but I get the feeling that won’t or indeed hasn’t stopped you moaning that we will be less competitive in the league now.
Don’t think we are “victims” as such but it is curious that just winning one of those set of play offs would see our strategy highlighted as a great success story and have fans of other clubs saying “wow look how well Derby are run” like you see from some on here re. Leeds, Villa, Wolves, Bournemouth and so on.
Unfortunately by not going up due to these fine margins we have found ourselves in the cross hairs of the EFL who’s rules are so clear that they are now seeking to change or clarify the rules that supposedly found us guilty. We are not victims of other teams cheating, in my opinion, but we have been victim of the EFL going on a crusade after the football club and creating a narrative that we are the villains of football with their vindictive, unclear statements and obvious leaks to the press.
Yesterday’s news should have been celebrated across football, that no precedent was set to retrospectively relegate a team for off field matters that were signed off for three years by an organisation that didn’t understand their own rules. I get the feeling it wasn’t though, because a narrative has been created that if you push spending limits and do not get promoted, you are worse than those who push limits and do.

Just had a quick scan of the decision.
2 things I picked up in the early pages:-
1 - The EFL dont want us to be the ones preparing the revised submissions, guess they will just get one of their non accounting experts to do them
2 - The EFL urged the DC to give us a retrospective points deduction
    They really are a disgrace

In 2014 I watched an exciting team, with a wage bill of £14.5m lose to QPR in the playoff final. They had a wage bill of £75million.
Next year it was Hull in the play-offs, with their parachute payments from the previous year, wage bill 30m.
Then a year off before having another go, losing to Fulham in 2018, wage bill £54m.
And then 2019 a loss to Villa, wage bill £65m.
There we have it; 2 playoffs semis, two finals, four loses, twice to teams that didn’t just break FFP but stamped on it, took it outside shot it from a cannon and then reversed over it with a steam roller.

Why are some folk so unable, unwilling or both, to assimilate a few simple facts concerning these charges? It's no small wonder that fans from other clubs have a poor opinion of us now, when some of our own fans, who ought to be better informed, are themselves the first to jump on any sniff of perceived wrongdoing. What possible benefit is there in wilfully ignoring what we know to be true in favour presupposing guilt at every corner? We've even got folk using the fact that we've not submitted the new accounts inside 48 hours as the latest stick with which to thrash the club. It simply beggars belief.
For the umpteenth time, there were two charges; one related to the valuation of our stadium and was summarily dismissed by the DC; the other related to our amortisation policy which was signed off on and approved under legal accounting standards by independent auditors, the auditors regulatory body, the DC and the ducking EFL themselves, the latter several times over a period of years. The amortisation policy charge was also initially dismissed by the DC for the aforementioned reasons. This left the EFL so desperate to save face that they appealed the decision, the outcome of which was predicted by myself and numerous others on this very thread: a small fine in order to secure the token win they need to maintain any ducking credibility at all AND NO POINTS DEDUCTION.
At this point, I very much doubt that even the EFL will be willing to risk further embarrassment. They can kid themselves this paltry fine vindicates two years of unwarranted charges and appeals and get back to their principal role as lapdogs to Sky and the Premiership whilst paying themselves inflated salaries for doing so. As for the DC, I strongly suspect that they only agreed to what is a nominal fine in order to save the EFL from falling into further disrepute and to allow us to finally emerge from under an endless series of unfair and damaging embargos and to prevent the EFL from continuing what has become a spiteful and unwarranted campaign against a club whose chairman quite rightly questioned their business acumen. In doing so, they have vindicated Mel's opinion in spades, though the crushing irony of this has unsurprisingly escaped the EFL's notice and who will doubtless be celebrating spending millions to secure a £100k fine for their members' coffers.
If, as I strongly suspect, the EFL do not appeal this sanction, I think we will 'be the bigger man' and simply take the £100k hit in order to allow us to return to football matters rather than spending every waking hour addressing the embittered ramblings and actions of a so-called professional body that seems more intent on undermining its membership than serving it.

I have emailed the sports minister and the football governance review body and my local MP, in case Crouchy won’t deal with my email as I’m not a constituent.
I think all Rams fans should do the same, as the EFL is out of control and not showing any fairness in its approach.
    Every bit helps !!

I would ask you urgently to intervene in the witch-hunt being undertaken by the EFL towards my football club, Derby County.
Having been fined £100 000 yesterday and warned re future accounting practices, following investigation by an independent panel ( for the second time), the EFL continue to press for a points deduction, with an unprecedented aim to relegate the club after the season has finished.
What is the point of an independent panel if its decision is not respected by the regulator ?
I feel the EFL is out of control, is being heavily influenced by third parties and is therefore not acting in a fair and unbiased way.
The EFL needs to be warned by the government about its behaviour towards its member clubs. Currently its approach is verging on bullying and I suspect it will end in the High Court, with the destruction of a founder member of the football league and hundreds of associated redundancies.

I'm no lawyer, but I'd have thought the use of the phrase "systematic cheating" is actionable. We've been through a disciplinary procedure that cleared us of any wrongdoing re. the sale of the stadium, and that censured us for using unusual but entirely legal amortisation procedures. Publically accusing the club of cheating is a very serious claim, and if I was the club's lawyer I'd be writing to this bloke pretty sharpish. The EFL have already dragged our name through the mud; we don't need every other gob***te joining in.

How many more clubs are the EFL going to forcibly attempt to send into liquidation once they finally move on from us?
Their failings as an organisation have seen the end or became within a whisker of seeing the end of a handful already, there's no sign of of any conscience or sense of responsibility from them though.
They'd rather sacrifice an entire club with over 120 years of history to appease one or two playing crybaby on the assumption that we've somehow gained an advantage over them (an advantage that in reality we haven't. even. bloody. gained) and save face by constantly appealing until they get someone to tell them they're 'right'... but that's not enough, no, they then want to appeal and appeal and appeal until someone finally agrees to implement their ridiculously OTT punishment.
They've already cost us far more than anything our methods could possibly have cost anyone else.
Protecting your member clubs my arse. They don't even know the meaning of the word. Absolute ducking scum more akin to the mafia than a sporting body.

The club have bent the rules but not broken them unlike many others of the decades.
