Would someone from the Telegraph or Radio Derby have the guts to ask him
”Do you want Derby County to cease to exist as a football club in the Football League?”

I agree @Raich Carter I've said this before, way before the current Rams debacle, that the rules governing clubs completely fail to recognise that they're so much more than a Business, they are the lifeblood of a community, they are someone's reason for getting up in the morning, they are the thing someone works their butt off for, just so they can go to a match, see their mates, be part of something.  Sadly, for most of those clubs that fold, as a result of poor business management, and the ensuing EFL sanctions they're hit with, the owners often stroll away, still with millions in the bank, with a c'est la vie attitude, leaving behind them 1000s of devastated, possibly unemployed people.
I love this club, I love football, but I also love a lot of other things, including rugby. Sadly, I'm getting more and more disillusioned with football as a whole, and turning more to rugby, which is so much more fan based in my opinion and less driven by TV rights, extortionate salaries and ridiculous, blind-sighted sanctions.
Something really does need to change but it has to be driven from someone like Government.  The PL aren't going to change anything whilst they sit in their ivory towers.  The EFL certainly aren't - a group I consider a bunch of Sepp Blatters. You only have to look at the latest FIFA penalty against Hungary for the disgusting racist abuse they dished out. Hungary were fined £158,400 and have to do 2 matches behind closed doors, literally 3 months after being fined £85,000 for a similar offence.  FIFA said - "Fifa takes a clear zero tolerance stance against such abhorrent behaviour in football," . Really? No you don't - otherwise you'd have fined them 10x that amount and kicked them out for minimum a year.
The whole system is broken and I for one have lost faith in it.  Sorry to be so doom and gloom.

He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

I would urge you and others not to. What’s the point? it would achieve nothing. I’d rather we portrayed, for potential new owners, an image of passionate and loyal fans who want to support our club through these difficult times. What’s done is done and no kind of demonstration is going to change that or get Mel out any quicker.

This is the most important thing we can do. Create some income to limit redundancies and player sales, make us attractive to purchasers and support the team.
If you haven't got a season ticket, buy a match ticket.
If you have a got a season ticket , encourage a mate to come or if you can afford it, gift a ticket to a mate.
Encourage friends and family to come.
If you can afford it and know someone who can't afford to go, gift them a ticket for this game.
If you live too far away and can afford it, gift a mate or family member from home,
If you are thinking of coming and have kids, bring them along.
Do whatever we can to fill the ground v Reading.
We've been let down but now it's our time, our time to stand up and save our club.

I wouldn't say I care about what fans of other clubs feel about us (especially that shower up the A52)
However I massively care about the good name of Derby County being dragged through the mire, as it currently is being
And it's going to get worse before it gets better I fear

Most others would have walked away I'm sure. Credit to Rooney. Got the team playing, working hard, faces the media, has been promised lots of things that haven't materialised. He is showing true leadership qualities. If we go down fighting this season, Rooney can hold his head high as can the players.

I wasn’t overly keen when he got the job, and after the season finished wanted him to move on. Delighted that I’ve been proven wrong, if we’re going down, we’re going down fighting - this is down to him. Fair play to the lad.

Sort of doesnt make sense that if a club is in financial trouble that the EFL would not loan them money to get out of financial trouble.
Sums the EFL up quite well actually.

The thing is, we're football fans. We tend to like owners who give us teams that win and are good to watch. Even better if they say the right things and plug into the club's identity. Mel did this, so he got lots of support and affection. I don't think that's a thing that anyone should disparage.
The position now means he's lost most of that support.
And it'll happen again with the next owner - they'll be popular when we do well and vilified when we don't.

I said the same to my son this morning if the EFL treat everyone the same which they obviously don’t I bet 1/2 of the division isn’t squeaky clean so it should look a farce but I bet it doesn’t and it will be just cheating Derby minus x amount of points.

Just because some disagree with some of your views on MM, it doesn't make them a MM lover.
I saw the way Lionel Pickering was treated and slated by some of our fans and some of the comments about MM were very similar,  I find it hard to join in with slagging off, but I'm a Derby fan, not a MM fan.

honestly I have reached the point that the punishment doesn’t matter .. we will be wherever we land, right or wrong. The thing that’s toughest is not knowing. I also get the feeling we will end up with penalties that go on for 3 seasons. I see no integrity, rationale or proportion in any of that.
You broke the rules .. take your punishment. Correct.
But if the rules are so badly drawn that punishment is disproportionate and dribbled out for years it is as disgraceful as it is unsporting.

what is going to be interesting over the coming months is how many other clubs face sanctions and deductions. There is no way on earth that every other champ club is squeaky clean. Then what does a league table look like. It’s a farce.

But how many of his detractors now were the ones saying “Uncle Mel” .. “pay what it costs” .. “yeaaarrr we got our man” .. “genius attracting Lampard” .. “Wayne ducking Rooney” etc etc etc
He has effed up big time. His legacy is failure, reckless foolishness, lousy decision making, misplaced trust and dire, desperate uncertainty. No equivocation.
but he wasn't and isn’t the 3 amigos and there are a lot of folk spitting bile on here that need to look at their own changing views over his tenure.

I'm not happy myself, however, I'd ask people to at least keep an open mind.
It's not implausible to think that potential buyers are waiting for administration because their costs would be so much less.
I agree staff and supporters will suffer but this may actually be the only way to get the new owners that everyone craves.
