In an ideal world we'd win at Cambridge to clinch promotion and beat Carlisle for the title.

I think the biggest difference this year to last is we've had our fair dues from the officials over the season. Some bad luck, some good.

The costs of last season's decisions ran into double figures.

Strangely enough we have played Carlisle on the last day of a title winning season before… what days they were.

Just finished watching it (the beauty of a TIVO box).

One of the greatest England wins I've ever seen - up there with Edgbaston 2005. Perhaps not quite the drama of The Oval 1968 (Underwood snagging Inverarity with just 3 balls to go, after most of the last day had been washed out) or Headingley 2019 (Stokes 135*, Leach the best 1* I've ever seen) - but a tremendous win against all the odds.

Watching Underwood do that in 68 must have been amazing.
Stokes 135 is my favourite batting display.

Frankie taking the last over for Derbys to win still has my pulse racing.

This win for England is right up there with the best of the best.

From reading this thread, I have to assume that it was one of the worst performances ever by a Derby County side - yet we somehow fluked a win. Is that a fair assessment?

/still not well enough to attend in person - just in spirit.

I watched it on Rams TV Eddie.

For Calum Elder think Mick Coop mate. Lol

  4. For me… Sir Franz and his team beating Dirty Leeds in the 1975 European Cup final is still my favourite result ever… even better that when we beat Benfica and Real Madrid.

I was lucky enough to have seen him play, incredibly for New York Cosmos in Giant Stadium in 1978. Carlos Alberto also played that night but sadly not Pele.

    Charlie George played too. Opposition.

South Africa will bludgeon their way to the final.  Ireland will totally dominate Wales at some point in the tournament and go out to a horrendous decision that will be reviewed after the event.

As certain as a Derby 0-0 draw with Wigan every  Boxing day.

Against England in the semi final… Joe Marler header wins the match.

  6. Not surprised by the start of this season really even though a few of the results have been pretty awful to watch.

Its not just the team and players we are rebuilding but the whole club with a new owner who has been honest enough to tell us supporters that the budget is limited.
Im sure the manager and coaching team along with players really want to do well, win many games and hopefully push into top six for the season. We do have quality for this league on the field. We know that.
Yesterday was not just the result that made me happy… more the response to going a goal down and being outplayed up until we equalized.
Bad teams go under at this point. Get overwhelmed, cant think to sort it out and understand whats going on and what to do about it. We were the total opposite and its was impressive how the manager and players handled the situation.
Next game cant come soon enough.

I only moved south on joining the Royal Navy and flitted between Plymouth and Portsmouth. Now that I have finally retired the current house is up for sale and I am moving back to Derby. The 160 mile drive for home games is becoming a of a pain.

I spent a couple of seasons in that neck of the woods in my yoof. Was based at Bulford Camp from 85-87

Even had a very unsuccesful trial at Salisbury Town FC.
Short weekend with duty involved then Amesbury was our night out and longer weekends we hit the high spots of Salisbury. Occasionally got to the Dell as a couple of my squaddie mates were Saints fans and took me along. Dont know if I dreamt this but I might have been there for Matt Le Tissier debut.

Anyway… fun days and lovely part of England.

Was just thinking the same thing. Lots of posters on here obviously with first hand experience of been in a profesional sports team by the sound of it. They know exactly what the manager should and shouldn't do.

Were football fans always such drama queens or is a modern disease. Were people sending notes on pigeons calling for Clough (Brian) out after a few games? Were people faxing Radio Derby after we were thrashed vs Tranmere under the Bald Eagle?

Does anyone remember a recent owner who kept sacking managers?

Actually supporters , or quite a few, were moaning in Brian Cloughs first season in charge when we went backwards a bit. Its certainly not a new thing but I guess social media and internet forums accent alot more and give a broader platform.
For what its worth I dont think I have ever been at any game where some sections of support didnt vent on a team, player, manager during the match. I started going to games early 70s regularly.

Regarding this current manager Im not really sure what to think. I get that he has new players and it could take time to gel or gather momentum. Arthur Cox had a slow start and look what happened… as an example.

But… these errors so far this season for goals we have conceded and the manner of that first half last night! They were serious ” Wows” for me…

Managing a club of Derbys size in league 1 comes with pressures different to the smaller clubs. Warne had better get used to that.

Im over from Sweden with my lad for Saturdays game v Burton… positive for this still and hoping to be happy lad and dad heading back to Derby by tea time.

  9. Help me here.

Myself and many others who live abroad or cant get to games pay a substantial monthly subscription to Rams TV. I dont shut mine down in the close season. I continue to pay even though there are no games to watch for a couple of months. Have done this since RamsTV and showing live games started however many years ago that was.

Im far from being wealthy so its quite a large amount from my monthly income whats left over.

So… am I on my own thinking its very cheeky asking for extra money to watch pre season friendlies like today? A fiver isnt much to many but I think this is a bit of a misstep from the club.
