cheron85 got a reaction from Premier ram in Jason Knight
We got £10.5m for Jeff Hendrick - Personally I think Knight is already a more well-rounded player than him and has more potential once he gains some more experience
We got that fee for Hendrick off the back of a couple of good games for Ireland at Euro 2016 - So a few good games for Ireland and Knight could be worth £10m+ if a couple of suitors came in

In all fairness - Baird was a class above at times - His legs may have gone a bit but his mind was sharp as ever and he had many quality wingers in his pocket for a couple of seasons with us

Alternatively it could be that the EFLs systems/checks aren't up to date enough to deal with modern business practices? Or they've decided they're so annoyed at Derby at the moment they'll take any excuse to screw with us? We don't know...
None of us were in the room with Morris and his people when the proof of funds was made - He employs lawyers who check these kinds of deals (and work with a lot of other companies to do similar) - So we have no idea what the decision he made was based on
Morris decided by his standards the money was there - The EFL decided by their standards it wasn't - Nobody has come out and said what either of those standards were - So to point the finger at either side being right or wrong is daft

I can’t see us having a new owner this Sumner. The last 3 to 4 years of the Morris tenure has been Marred by some crazy decisions. We are now at a really Lowe point. The club is even a Tennant of the stadium.

A compulsory strike off is also what happens when directors decide to let the company dissolve
I believe there is also a 3 month objection period
So - I don't think this is an immediate concern - Could be a useless shell now (for a variety of reasons) which they're letting go plus there's still plenty of time to rectify it if needed
PLUS if we don't have a takeover done within 3 months there are much bigger problems

Guys - Am I reading it right that now the EFL have announced the teams for the championship 21/22 they won't be able to relegate us ahead of the season?
I know there's a very complex system in place to generate fixtures based on geography so they couldn't simply swap us for Wycombe at a later date
I've not been following the thread for a while so apologies if this has already been flagged!

cheron85 got a reaction from angieram in Rooney In!
I think we're collectively being a little harsh on Rooney because of the last gasp escape - it was a painful position to be in for us after the last few years but it's where we ended up
I'm not 100% convinced by Rooney yet but I think he's done enough to be given a chance to improve the squad over the summer and see what he can do with a clean slate
Over the course of his 33 games in charge (the co-manager idea was awful and I'm not blaming him for that) he managed a team to results which would have equated to an 18th place finish - which isn't horrible in context of the limited squad he had available
The Bielik injury was devastating to our season - with him we are an entirely different prospect and we have no one who can cover that
As others have pointed out - It's possible to survive this league if you're bottom after 10 games - So why not give him the summer and the first 10 games to see what he can make of us? He's in place, we'd have to pay to get rid of him and this is a much fairer test of his chops that a horrible relegation dogfight

Please, before saying how bad Mel's decisions have been can people just think how they actually felt when those decisions were made. Managerial appointments and sackings, player signings (both the player and the contract they were offered), CEO sackings.......... The only decision that really strikes me as being widely opposed to was the sale of the ground. And that was probably the only one that (because of the earlier decisions) was actually the right one.
A massive 94% were in agreement with Rooney's permanent appointment at the time. There isn't a thread on the forum now that doesn't allude to that being the cause of our current on pitch problems.
Opinions change. That's a right for everyone, but don't say that they haven't changed and that you always felt that way. Admit you were wrong. No one will call you out on it. You might even get a like for admitting it.

Cocu was sacked this season for getting 7 points from (I think) 13 games
From the last 14 games Rooney has taken 8 points
Across the course of his time with Derby Cocu got a win percentage and a PPG higher than Rooney has over his time in charge - Yet some people are happier with Rooney than Cocu
There's a caveat to all of this - A lot of Cocu's points last season came from the boot of Rooney - But then a lot of Rooney's points this season have been driven by Bielik being available - Cocu had a super rough time with injuries at the start of the season - Rooney has dealt with a squad with the most fragile of confidence - There are things to balance out in either scenario
Would love to know what Cocu would have been able to do with a fit squad and the board paying the little extra for Dursun but such is life

You can make up a lie which is very specific - In fact common wisdom suggests that the more intricate and convenient the detail the more likely it's a lie
The Mail are more interested in selling newspapers / driving clickbait than they are reporting the truth - Jordan doesn't have that necessity
That said - I also don't know who to believe
The worst allegation people seem to be able to throw at Alonso seems to be that he's trying to re-finance the ground in order to buy players instead (take on the debt himself so the club has money for players) and then use Derby as a breeding / showcasing ground for talent he can sell on (the Brentford approach which so many seem to like) - He'd need us to stay in the championship at a minimum for that plan to work and (preferably for him) the Prem

There have been times I've been a little wistful for the days of mid-table obscurity under Clough Jnr - The days when we weren't sure if Theo Robinson could somehow turn himself into a good player (spoiler, he couldn't) and when we'd pick up such bargain legends as Craig Bryson (hero) and a little known, unfancied midlands lad from the back end of nowhere could be plucked from (essentially) non-league to become a folk hero (GodBlessBucko)

So basically you're saying, we just need a draw at home to Reading - a team with nothing to play for - and we make the playoffs?
Sweet, what could be easier than that?
