Further argues the point that if you want to strip Man City of their titles after 2018 (when the charges go up to), then you will have to strip Leicester of their fairytale PL title too.

Β

Oh go on then, lets do that. I'm sure fester fans would be adderment they wouldn't want to have won it by cheating with their finances.

we can laugh because its leicester and forest but it really doesnt feel right does it? in terms of the premier league that is.Β  almost every club in the prem is at the limit either just under or over it like everton leicester and forest.... apart from the established super league clubsΒ  who will spend the summer picking off players from villa newcastle wolves and the list goes on. speaking of the super league its like its already been introduced

Β

it will be burnley and bournemouth that will be next in trouble, theyve had big spends in the past few seasons. bournemouth alone have spent north of 200m in the past 18 months and have hardly recouped a penny in transfer fees

Β

to me the rules feel completely wrong as funny as it is because all the vile clubs are getting punished

It feels like justice to me in the cases of Forest and Leicester, because both appear to have broken FFP in the EFL in recent times (Leicester escaped in the past also with merely a small fine after fighting the EFL over it for years and effectively won major honours as a result). Forest also knew that they were spending more last season than they could afford to do under the regulations and yet prevaricated on obtaining balancing funds from Johnson's transfer because they thought deadlines didn't apply to them with the arrogance you expect from the super-rich. Now they're both threatening the football governing bodies with legal action despite having signed up to the competition rules.

Of course, even wealthier clubs deserve to get appropriate justice, but that doesn't mean these two deserve sympathy - they made their beds and they're unlikely to go bust from the effects of a tiny points deduction.

no sympathy about them breakuing the rules i just think the rules are fundamentally wrong.

Β

i think every leagues maximum spend should be aligned to the club with the highest revenue in the league it shouldnt be on individual clubs, all it does it create a world of haves and have nots that goes for every division. we have seen ourselves ffp rules do nothing to prevent clubs getting into financial trouble but nobody is stupid enough now to believe thats why it was brought in its simply to protect the heirachy.

The only way that would work is if clubs were only allowed to make up for any shortfall in net profit by way of a non-repayable (except as a result of a sale of the club) investment by the owners. Isn’t that essentially how P&S rules work in leagues 1 and 2? Certain types of owner injection of funds can be included in revenue? You can’t have rich owners boosting the revenue of a club by way of a loan for which repayment can be demanded. In fact, isn’t the amount each club is allowed to lose each year already limited by the fact that a large proportion needs to be covered by a β€œsecure” injection of funds from the owner?

FFP rules may not prevent clubs getting into financial trouble simply because they literally allow them to make significant losses each year.Β

Brilliant, they're going to end up deducted 6.

That is so stupid of them. How do they not realise they got off lightly? They couldn’t possibly get any less points tramen off. They can’t expect it to be reduced to zero, so what, they’ll reduce it to 2pts, best case scenario. What difference will that really make? And why would any sanctioning body agree to that? As a punishment, it’s no deterrent at all. What do they hope to gain from this? But worst case scenario, they know they were awarded 2 pts back for cooperating, so they logically should have that reapplied by default. 2pts in the opposite direction really could make a difference.

Right now they’re just 1pt behind Luton. That should be an achievable target. If they can’t make that up on the pitch, then they don’t deserve to be in the premier league. This appeal will just distract them and probably loose them more points on the pitch than they could hope to gain in court.Β

I’ll absolutely piss myself if they get docked an extra 2pts and go down by one. How incredible would that be?!

Can't believe they've appealed.Β Β

If nothing else those points get carried over into a far stronger league next season.Β Β

Clueless

Not sure that's likely, or even possible.

Isn't there a deadline, inclusive of appeals, effectively a few days after the season ends (End of May?), to sort it once and for all?Β

The final day table may just be asterisked with "Subject to confirmation", with the potential for relegation/survival hanging in the air!

There's always those that got relegated to sue.Β  I suspect fear of that's behind the appeal.Β  Less the better. Leicester can use it pay their legal fees.Β  What a cluster

So they're expecting to find someoneΒ  with a spare Β£100m to have left over from this season's expenditure?

This is why Notts couldn't get as much as they wanted before June 30th for Brennan. Why would any club keep back these eye watering amounts of money until after the season has finished, surely they will want to spend that money on players at a time when they can add value during that accounting period, ideally after 1st July and before the season starts.

Generally speaking players will have less value in the early part of the summer transfer window before the end of the accounts period. Notts will have known this when they overspent before the start of the season and realised that they would have had to had a forced sale of players at the end of the season and before the end of their accounting period at 30th June, in order to comply with FFP. They chose not to comply, for which there is no defence. They chose to spend over Β£30m more than they should have, so that over the season, they would have had an advantage over other clubs abiding by the rules.

I would like to see the Premiership allow Man City to appoint their own club match referee.

The club referee would travel home and away with Man City and referee all their games, the referee would be paid by how many points Man City accumulated over a season.

This change would not affect FFP but it might dispel, once and for all, of any notion that there isΒ any fairness in football.πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
