She was only sixteen

All the songs with paedo undertones.

She was just seventeen, if you know what I mean.

Young girl get out of my mind, my love for you is way out of line.

Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you. It's late December and I really should be back at school.

And more.

You seem to be able to recall an unhealthy number of lyrics with paedo undertones.

Late December he'd still be on holidays if a pupil?

I reckon he was the creepy school caretaker.

Rod Stewart was an ambition before it became a stage name.

Must admit,  I never even twigged!  I'm utterly shocked!  I feel such a fool for being so gullible!    ?

I'll tell yer now though... I shall never listen to another Undertones track for as long as I live.  Bloody sickos!

Oh... erm...

Yeh, sixteen candles, there's a whole raft of them when you think about it.

Except the last of those is in reverse - I thought it was the story of how Rod Stewart lost his virginity to an older woman.

It is, but he sounds like a schoolboy still. All a bit iffy if you ask me.

I recall the mild controversy surrounding Bill Whyman marrying the girl he started dating when she was 14, and it was sort of accepted because he was a star.

Totally different era wasn't it. Samantha Fox did her first topless photoshoot for the Sun at 16. That was 1983. Can you imagine if they put a topless 16 year old on page 3 these days what the reaction would be?

C30, C60, C90 Go! - Bow Wow Wow

Brimful of asha on a 45 - Cornershop

Dropped in the sea just off Japan, Swapped 20 bottles for an Aqua Walkman - Big Audio Dynamite

The Camera Never Lies - Bucks Fizz (obviously pre-Photoshop!)

---

I just googled Brimful of Asha because I couldn't remember the artist, and discovered that Google's #1 recommended search was "What does on a 45 mean?"

That ought to make you feel old.

I recall a story in Private Eye about the Sunday Sport running a feature/story about one girl they were going to feature topless on her 16th birthday. Now it's the sport so perhaps we can believe it was, er, total testicles, but if her birthday was the day the paper came out (like they were featuring) the pictures would have been taken the day before, when she was still 15.

The most concerning thing about it was it clearly interested some readers enough to buy the paper.

Attitudes do seem to have changed a bit since then. Maybe we are becoming more enlightened as a species. Apart from i-Ram, of course.

You led me to believe you're old enough

to give me love

And now it hurts to know the truth

Young girl get out of my mind etc etc

Or Elvis

Little Sister don't you kiss me once or twice

and say it's very nice and then you run

Little sister don't you do what your big sister done!

Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find.
If her daddy's rich, take her out for a meal
If her daddy's poor, just do what you feel.

- Mungo Jerry

Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind / I always get it up, for the touch of the younger kind,

- The Knack

Tonight's the night I've waited for
Because you're not a baby anymore/
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen,
Happy birthday sweet sixteen

- Neil Sedaka

Reflective of their times but man, people were messed up back in the day when it came to young women (and drink driving in Mungo Jerry's case). Can see why certain attitudes pervade society even today, when these are all pretty well known songs that you probably wouldn't have batted an eyelid to the lyrics to at the time. Probably some people even now.

Also, @Animal is a Ram to player your game- the star after pressing unlock line is Arctic Monkeys, View from the Afternoon.

Not sure about the other.
