Wildsmith  6 - Looked better than in pre-season.

Knight  7 -  Worked well with Mendez-Laing. Great energy and overlapping. Brilliant covering early on to pressurise Taylor when he got in behind.

Davies 6 - Got better as the game got on. Caught out by a couple of long balls over the top early on.

Cashin  7 - Similar to Davies. Feeling he might have missed out if Chester had been fit, which would have been a mistake imo. Would play him and one of Davies/Chester. 

Roberts  6 - Think he looks a real good player, great attributes but we struggled to get the ball to the left side. 

Smith   5 - Played out of position and it didn't work. Midfield was a problem until Sibley came on, all 3 struggled to get in the game. 

Bird  6 - As always gets better as the game goes on. The defense and full backs should always be looking for him, we improve so much when we find Bird in space and he's able to pass through the lines. 

Hourihane   6 - Thought he was pretty anonymous for 60 minutes and didn't look to have the legs to get in the game. Improved massively when the they tired and his goal was class. 

NML 7 - Beats his man with so much ease, pace, power and so direct. Going to cause league one defenses so many problems. End product maybe an issue, could have scored 2/3 and made some poor decisions when cutting in and shooting. 

Barkheuizen  5 Only got on the ball about twice in the first 60 minutes. Looked good after that. 

Collins  6 - Really like him, works so hard - can tell he's a real team player. Hopefully the goals will come, only seen 1 or 2 crosses in all pre-season matches and yesterday that have been anywhere near his head. Holds the ball up well, but he's slow turning and releasing it.

Sibley 7 - Changed the game, lots of energy, made the right runs and his decision making was really good. Felt as though a bit of his confidence was returning.

Wildsmith 7 - couple of good saves & was assured in possession. Was slow to get the ball into play though from restarts

Knight 7.5 - did well considering not his natural position. Got caught positionally a couple of times but offered a lot going forward. Linked up well with Mendez-Laing

Davies 7.5 - usual dominant aerial display. Bit lucky with that vicious swipe at their left winger late in the game, thought ref was going to go for a red

Cashin 7.5 - good display from Cash both in the air & on the deck. Would like him to be a little more adventurous with his forward passing - rather than just moving it sideways, he has the quality to cut through midfield

Roberts 7 - some misplaced passes but looked so comfortable on the ball. Going to be a big player for us this season

Smith 6.5 - pressed really well from a near number 10 position but lacked service to be more of a threat in attacking areas. Think he's better suited as a deeper midfielder

Bird 6.5 - tough day for him today, assaulted by Oxford's midfielders with little protection from the ref & given little space to play. Tidy on the ball when in possession but not able to dictate play to usual extent

Hourihane 7 - like Bird, struggled for space against Oxford's intense midfield press & was anonymous for long periods. Mark of class when after doing little for first 60 mins, steps up for a fantastic winner late on. Decent set pieces also

Mendez-Laing 8 MOM - caused absolute carnage particularly first half. Pace & power that their knuckleheads couldn't live with. Couple of misplaced crosses but looked our most likely outlet for a goal. Unlucky with one excellent run first half ending in a shot from 6 yards

Barkhuizen 7 - very quiet first half but had very little service. Did his defensive work though & had a very bright last 20 mins where he fizzed a couple of excellent balls into the box

Collins 6.5 - tough day for our new CF, few times he wasn't able to hold the ball up (when challenged legally) & that needs to improve. Some good touches though & won plenty of free kicks. Got very little quality service into him, crosses were always 'just' too high or long

Sibley 8 - excellent cameo. Has clearly bulked up & his retention of the ball much better. Allied to his direct style & ability to see the killer ball, it bodes well for this season. His fantastic ball cutting out 4 defenders & straight onto Hourihane's left foot a brilliant assist for the winner

Thompson 6 - steady & calm in possession late on

No worries @rammieib, I've got this covered. I've got it all set up, including pivots and might even do some SPC charts to show statistically significant deviations/variation.

Wildsmith   6 - couple of decent stops, couple of nervous moments

Knight   7 - good performance out of position

Davies   6 - steady and solid, caught out a couple of times

Cashin   6 - as above

Roberts   6 - decent start, can see him growing into the season

Smith   6 - quiet game, didn't influence match 

Bird   6 - neat and tidy, took a heavy tackle, needs to dicate play more

Hourihane   7 - quiet game, match winner with well taken goal from range

Mendez-Laing   8 - MOM, threatened with pace and power, gonna create a lot this season

Barkheuizen   6 - quiet for most of the match, needed to get involved more

Collins   6 - led line well, put himself about, needs more service

Subs

Sibley   7 - energetic cameo, some good runs and assist
