So why is the penalty for breaching FFP still unsettled?

This demonstrates how involved it all is: apparently after the 7 day extension for delivery of accounts, we gave EFl a set based on a third method of amortisation which showed no breach (the £4m breach MM referred to was on a straight line basis). Neither of the legal panels had opined on the third method

the other reason for delay according to  MM - EFL foot dragging

hopefully the admins appeal will force resolution of all disputes

It’s not so much that what he says isn’t untrue, just the gusto and apparent pleasure he takes in saying it that rankles!

The fact is, if we grab a couple of wins then it's all there for us again. There are 87 points to play for after all and if we can turn in performances akin to the way we played against Millwall then we can still escape the clutches of the evil EFL. In the interim...

If we are still discussing the merits of which amortisation method should have been used can anyone confirm if the EFL rules stated all clubs had to use the same method or merely one that complied with HMRC? If its the latter then what we did is not the despicable cheating act some have painted. After all our accountants, the IDC accountant and presumably HMRC haven't claimed we cheated?

That’s the point. It might have been a crafty wheeze, a short term fix for a problem … no denying that, but if it is a legal bit of crafty and is not proscribed in the EFL rules then, quite simply there isn’t any cheating. … I don’t know ; I lack knowledge.

This forum and thread however, clearly has a large number of the following :  Tax lawyers, accountants, EFL law givers and rule book anoraks along with those who know the intimate details of our accounts line by line.

We can all say (and agree)  it was a  smart Alec move, ok … but how many can actually say with authority, that it wasn’t allowed ?

Your argument falls apart because we let so many leave on a free.
How many players have we SOLD at a P&S loss? Weimann, Jerome, Albentosa, Shotton all about on par with what their book values would have been at the time. Profits on Ince, Christie and Vydra.

That’s sort of my point.  We made a number of bad signings that reduced to nothing but the way reduced their value over their contract didn’t really reflect that.  Mel said in his post-admin interview that the club changed the policy to reflect a small reduction initially then larger reductions at the end.  That works for someone like a Tom Ince but not for Nick Blackman.  Our problem is we had too many in the latter category that, as you say, left on a free.

The flaw in the process was we signed players on too high wages. So couldn't get rid of them. But that's about the execution of the recruitment policy , which was poor no arguments with that . But that's not down to the  principle of the amortisation method itself.

We’re down already. Only chance we have is if the gap is down to seven points maximum by January.

But if anything, it looks like it will be bigger.

We needed at least midtable form to have a chance. But we’re in relegation form regardless of the points deduction.

It’s an opinion .

If takeover takes longer than January forget it. .

Jags and Baldock would go .

Only hope is takeover sorted soon but it’s dragging on.

It’s not dragging on though is it? The administrators made it clear they were hoping things would be sorted by the end of the year. Is it the end of the year yet?

FWIW, I think there is a very good chance that we are going to go down this year. It’s only realistic to make that assumption given all the odds that are stacked against us. But let’s not revel in it. Let’s not gain say every fan who wants to be optimistic and positive about our chances. Let’s not give up hope. That’s what being a fan is about. Otherwise, why bother?

Derby update: appeal over the -12 point deduction for entering administration has been adjourned. Genuine chance the appeal may be dropped altogether, with talks continuing between the EFL and #dcfc administrators. Re: club sale, 3-4 parties are in talks. Percy

Hmm.. so the athletic story may be true.
