So when you're near me
Derby can't you hear me, S.O.S.
The love you gave me
Nothing else can save me, S.O.S.

When you're gone
How can I even try to go on?
When you're gone
Though I try, how can I carry on?

Seems fitting today to say that in the fight for survival I would do anything  ...but I wont sing that...

I’ve always thought this would make a great football chant.

Although no connection to Theatreland for most fans, that never stopped working class Liverpool and Celtic (YNWA).

The lyrics could be tweaked…

‘Do you hear the (forest) sing?

I can’t hear a ******* thing

Its the voices of the Derby who will

drown them out again…’

Though to be honest the original with its theme of unity and standing together would be quite apt at present.

Actually.....yep, it does have a very rhythmic quality that could be well utilised into a decent chant.

  • 2 weeks later...

At the Birmingham game it sounded to me as if the South Stand was singing the chorus "I always knew" by The Vaccines. From 1:56 here:

  • Because it's you
  • Oh, it's always you
  • Oh, I  always knew
  • Oh, it's you

possibly with the "Ohs" replaced by "Derby"? Did I mishear or do we sing this lovely song now? Expect @DarkFruitsRam7(among others) will be able to enlighten me.

I think you misheard. We've started singing the Allez Allez Allez song recently, which sounds quite similar.

  • They've docked us 21 points
  • And we don't give a duck
  • Cause we are Derby County
  • And we are staying up...

Original song:

Liverpool's brilliant version (sorry @MuespachRam):

Fantastic. Ta for clearing that up. They are similar and I'm glad I now know the words. As a Vaccines fan I'd much rather it had been that, but it's still pretty good.
