Has the transfer embargo been lifted?

I think there’s a few crossed wires going on with that Steve Nicholson tweet. I think by “add another player” he’s referring to a new signing.  My understanding is that we can play as many of our own youth players as we want, there’s no restrictions on that at all. What it would do though, is block up a spot for a potential new incoming. With Ravel Morrison signing we are at the limit already, so in theory we can just play everyone and not worry about it. But it does mean that if we, for example, sold David Marshall, we couldn’t replace him.

Unless we sell Marshall (if he wants to go) before playing the youngsters and then there's a spot left.

Yeah, the restriction isn’t having 23 professional players, it’s making signings when you have 23+.  If we want to play say Cashin on Tuesday, we need to get anybody out *and* get their replacements in before then.

Or we clear the HMRC issue/hard embargo and then we have plenty of spots left, obviously.

Depends what it is the EFL and Derby are disagreeing about regarding our pre submittal of the accounts. If its that extra £30mill from the stadium that we want to pull out of the air i'd suggest we might be going the other way regarding player signings. We don't know for sure what said sticking point is, but if it is the above surely we just back down if we're compliant without it.

Agree with this. Because if Mel files accounts that the EFL objects to and if they open another dispute, it remains really hard for him to sell because of the uncertainty. And for a long time

as you suggest, if we’re not compliant without the 30m, that’s a more difficult decision

am skeptical about the 30m though because even though the DC opened this door, I think the board will have signed off on the more conservative basis. Hard to change it retrospectively

We should be OK to play anyone we choose on Tuesday because according to the Efl's own rules

'The limits do not apply to cup competitions or include under-21s unless they were signed on loan"

But this is the EFL so they will probably make up a rule just for us.

That’s the 25-man squad limits that apply to every club IIRC, it’s nothing to do with the embargo/professional-standing rules.

Not sure about that. The Embargo Rules and Professional Standing criteria, which we're under, seem to suggest only EFL Trophy doesn't count and age doesn't matter.

Still think he's hiding from Coleen. ? ?

Basically contact the EFL to check every little thing we do!

More importantly they can frame any requests however they see fit so if they are against you there is really nowhere to go..
