Whitaker struggling for positional sense without the ball a mistake to bring him on lost our shape bit of a blow for him but not his fault really getting played around too easily

Whether he should have been brought on or not is beside the fact.

Subbing someone off that quickly sends the wrong message unless they've really lost their head. Doubly so when it's a young player. 

It's basically Rooney shifting the blame of a mistake onto someone else. It's really poor management of a young player.

The mistake was putting him on not taking him off. He was seriously struggling out there today, yea it’s harsh buts it’s professional football, you don’t get 45 mins to play yourself in.

If Rooney isn't going to be patient with them, he might as well not use the young players. Maybe sometimes throwing them in the deep end will just work, other times it's possible they'll take time and a patient manager, if Rooney isn't going to be patient then he shouldn't be using Whittaker.
