So mate if we lose the next 2 games say against Watford and Huddersfield this perceived pressure he put on himself will only intensify thus making him doing the job extremely difficult for him.

Of course we may and I hope win the next 2 or 3 games thus easing the pressure.

I Just think saying he is putting pressure on himself with all the things he has had to deal with a bit remiss.

I don’t think this story will go away easily

All good managers put pressure on themselves.

Mel hasn't sacked a manager since McClaren in 2017.

He learned that the revolving door policy is expensive, because not only do you have to pay of the remainder of the manager's (and his coaches) contracts. You have to start paying the new managers and coaches contracts. You also have to buy a load of new players for the new managers style, whilst offloading the any unwanted players. A financial disaster.

All of this with no guarantee that results will improve.

That not to say that Cocu is unsackable, but unless things get really bad, or something major happens -  Mel2.0 is about making up for his early mistakes, levelling the ship, stability and patience.

The one thing that surprised me is Talksport were one of the first outlets to circulate the story and yet Mel goes on there being all friendly and cheerful.

Surely if it’s mischief making by the tabloids then surely seeing a media company you have a good relationship with driving the story and adding fuel to the fire would anger you.

After all, the story broke just under 48 hours from the transfer deadline and our big game on Friday. That is unhelpful and undermines the club.

I am surprised he didn’t go on a rant.

I totally agree.

Talksport even said it was happening

But doesn't Mel reasonably often go on talksport when there's things to say about DCFC? He's certainly been on a few times so probably knows the people at the station and is on reasonable terms to go on for a few minutes and put his thoughts.

MM never puts pressure on his managers then.

In Cocus case he puts it all on himself.

That’s not the same and you know it. A good manager doesn’t settle and is constantly striving for greatness. Cocu is pressuring himself because he knows the results haven’t been what they can be, albeit with some missing players but still.

Did you never apply pressure to yourself in your work to get the job done?

Yes.
So as I see it if results don’t improve short term Cocu will be gone.

That’s my opinion but I obviously I hope it doesn’t come to that

Exactly why wasn’t he annoyed with them then !

He may well have been in private but seems to have a decent relationship with Jim White so makes sense for him to use him to put the record straight. Might be like a swan serene on the surface but paddling like %$£" below the water.

I think it's clear that Mel has good connection with the Talksport. They just did little bit unethical marketing to get some of fans going nuts and with that made sure they have more listeners.

Which disappoints me as I've heard Rooney had Mr Trump lined up as his wall specialist.

I except that but the mood was very jovial.

Anyhow on to Watford tomorrow.

Come on you Rams.

But surely if Talksport have a relationship with Mel and wanted to protect it, they would have called him last night and issued a counter-article rather than fanning the flames?

After all, a day before a big game and the transfer deadline, who wants to appear on radio having to dismiss stories of this nature?

Surely Mel has better things to do at this time?
