In_The_Dark_Ram 58
I was surprised to see Phillip Cocu run past our house the other day, which got me thinking of unexpected encounters with players and managers. My mum tells a story about when she played hockey with Rachael Heyhoe Flint in the late 60s when Rachael was captain, living next door to Brian Clough, and they shared a ‘party line’ - another age when two neighbours shared a single phone line, but with different numbers. My mum was on the phone to Rachael talking hockey when Brian picked up and demanded they get off the line as he needed to speak to Roy Macfarland. Unexpected! roboto 1,535
Sharing a party line was certainly something different in more modern times. Leicester Ram, Taribo, Steve How Hard? and 6 others
Tyler Durden 3,204
That sounds like the opening line from a Viz story. Imagine my surprise when I saw Philip Cocu run past my house the other day taffyram and In_The_Dark_Ram

Millenniumram 12,979
Quite a few current players have played golf at the same club I play at. Never really bumped into any of them, but have played with players in groups in front/behind me. Was also in the changing rooms with Chris Martin once, which I suspect is something @RoyMac5 dreams of... Gee SCREAMER !! 3,371
Good lord , the amount of stuff I could put on here from the years 91-98. Started typing something and decided I couldn't really post it having checked the guidelines and that was the mildest.
RamNut
I was once waiting to cross the road and Ted McMinn drove past. that was pretty special. and another time I was walking the dog round Allestree Park and I think I saw Rob Hulse with his wife and his kid in a push Chair. It might not have been him but I like to think that it was. crazy. Edited September 30, 2020 by RamNut
Mostyn6 12,561
I once had to cancel Ted McMinn's employment contract because he couldn't commit to compulsory Toyota overtime due to his role as summariser on Radio Derby alongside Ross Fletcher in about 2004-05 Coneheadjohn

Mucker1884 9,773
There was this one time when I had an unexpected moment with a Ram, but as I was wandering a field in my wellies at the time... in the dark... perhaps it shouldn't have been so unexpected, in hindsight! Anyway, I don't like to talk about it! I know nothing and Steve How Hard?

EtoileSportiveDeDerby 1,091
At the gym doing some gentle exercise next to me was Branko Strupar with a fitness coach from DCFC doing abs. Branko shouted YOU KILLING ME, I smiled and the coach pointed at me and told him, he's trying harder than you 😂
Penelope Pendrex 1,884
Roger Davies once worked for a (now extinct) concrete product manufacturer that I also worked at, in the Planning department. I think he booked in deliveries. Never had a conversation with him. He was very quiet and also really massive.
Olton Ram 1,201
Since this thread has morphed into 'Derby players I happened to see once', I can offer Gary Micklewhite and his wife(?) waiting to see Batman at the cinema in 1989, and Mark Wright and Paul Blades having a drink in the Old Silk Mill, c.1990. Exciting stuff.
