Leeds away, without a doubt. Two litres of G&T on the bus in a Buxton’s water bottle, Dad didn’t even know Marriott had come on let alone who’d scored, we both missed the second because it took that long to get a drink, got another drink because I’ve missed one so I may as well, cried when Wilson scored, cried when we won, lost my sunglasses but ended up coming away with a bucket hat and the scarf Lampard threw into the crowd, hour inside Elland Road just celebrating then as we’re about to go home the bus won’t start and we have to stand outside Elland Road for an hour whilst a new one was sent out. Decided to ring my 86 year-old Mammar to say that “we’ve ducking done it” only for her to think I was my cousin and she had no clue what was going on. Copious amounts of gin at the services, copious amounts of Martinis back home. Highlights and Sportscene reaction being played alternately all through the night.

That all sounds great, but ...... gin on an away day?

Derby 4 Forest 1 has to be up there.

My dad is 86 now and housebound with Parkinsons but we went to games together for many years. This was the only occasion I ever saw him totally sh1tfaced, he tried to have a pint for every man in the team and when he ran out of players he moved on to subs and the management!

It was so unexpected and against all the odds. The gumps were well and truly on the up, while we were on our way down. 3 years earlier we were a Charlie George injury away from winning the Double and now the treetards had fluked the league and were on their way to sneak a lucky win against a team about the size of Chesterfield....

We hammered em that day, their fans were so confident before the game, giving it large behind the huge police escort, after the game, the Derby lads were dancing in the streets, serenading them all the way back to the station.....I had a hangover as big as your dads.......?

Didn't realise Malmo- who had a number of part time players-had there three key players missing .  Half full stadium-that I did expect .

Unfortunately, with two of their best players – midfielder Bo Larsson and defender Roy Andersson – already ruled out with injury and with their captain and key midfielder – Staffan Tapper – breaking his toe in training on the eve of the final, Malmö resorted to the same defensive tactics that Belgian team Club Bruges had used at Wembley in the final twelve months earlier. With neither of the finalists being one of Europe’s major clubs, Munich’s Olympiastadion was far from full for the Final

That was the best 3-5 minutes watching Derby, 3 goals against Shilts, and the Popside . . . 'European Champions ha ha ha ha ha.  So unbelievable, we were so crap at that time, a bit like the cup game 2-0 (though I think that team was even worse! lol)

Modern times, I didn't go but Leeds away in Play Off must have been similar/same. Watched it with brother and a mate, Marriott scores and we are hugging like kids again, screaming with contorted faces in a circle, beer on the floor, wife pissed off   football eh?

still smile at all them silk scarves

There are too many great games over the years to mention but one that will always be a memorable game was the 2-1 home win on a Friday night against Rotherham to secure promotion from the old Division 3.  The whole match experience and night out in Derby afterwards was fantastic.

One of my all time faves too.  What a first game for you!

I had to make do with a 0-0 bore-draw for my first game... Although it was the home game v Carlisle, in April 1975, so there was a nice big shiny trophy to admire, after the final whistle!  Mustn't grumble, I suppose!  ??

I wasn't sure who were most pissed that day the crowd or the players from celebrating as i remember it was a hot sunny day , Carlisle already relegated ( Think they beat us 3-0 away earlier in the season) and neither team raised energy levels above a gentle jog.

28/05/07 - Derby 1-0 West Brom

We didn't particularly play well (and sometimes I wish we'd have lost!) but the only time the Rams have won at Wembley in my lifetime, so has to be that. The emotion at full-time was unforgettable.

This is mine as well.  Watching it back, we hardly got a sniff of the ball, let alone chances on goal, a quintessential King Bill-eh smash & grab.  Don't think I'll ever experience joy like it when Pearson's shot went in.  Sheer undiluted joy...

Title is self-explanatory. Sorry to be that guy to shut down coronavirus discussion but as a relatively new Rams fan (last 8 years) I'm curious to see the responses...

Wanchope debut at Old Trafford

We were great that day - Obviously easy to talk about Poom, Wanchope (that goal) and McGrath - But I like to remind people of the Man Utd team that day - This is a Utd team with both Nevilles, Beckham, Giggs, Keane, Cantona, Schmeichel, Pallister - On their way to the title, only lost 5 games all season, only lost two at home - And one was against newly promoted Derby County (and we took 4 points off them that season)

Great day

If Igor had been fit we would have won by a cricket score?

Not forgetting Paul Trollope who was tasked with man marking Cantona.

The home game was pretty special as well.  For Laursen's absolute thunderbastard of a free kick...

I could not believe that match of the day had that footage. Normally it was a couple of games so to see that at the time was just brilliant.

So many games to choose from, some that have been mentioed, but, some of mine are...

Arsenal 1-2 Derby.. travelled down, Scousers on the train from Brum to Euston didn't give us a chance, Gooner landlord had Magnum's of Champers on ice ready.... My Dad had a bet with him, for a round of drinks that we'd beat them...

Derby 4-1 Wimbledon... Deano's debut, enough said!!

Derby 4-2 ******.... Coffee Cup game ???

Tottenham 1-3 Derby... Tinman with his goals from tight angles, n a Deano goal

Derby 4-1 Newcastle... Bizarre game, Newcastle with 3 red cards, never been or seen a game like it

I remember that. The scoreline is a bit flattering really....took a while before it became comfortable - against eight!!!

Wouldn't it be one more off and they would have had to abandon it?
