Surely he would need a chunk of that adjusting to championship football training with the team etc?? Or are you not allowed to train with the team until being registered??

No, he'll be able to train as normal, just not registered to play until Jan. Should be up to speed by the 1st.

How many players signed in the summer transfer window get that amount of time with their new team? Only those signed within the first few weeks will get more time than Rooney will with our squad. We had a debutant last night who had only several days to gel with his team mates before starting a league game. I'm sure two months will be more than adequate.

Yeah basically what I said purely money based , would of made sense for everybody for him to join now so he is well into the swing of championship football by Christmas but instead hes joining after 25 games or more have been played and by then he has played a full season in America then is thrown into a tough demanding league playing twice a week or more at his age after a full season in mls?? Alarm bells ringing

It doesn't make sense for him to join now at all.

Their season started in March, 5 months ago, so far this season he's played 23 games.

We've played one game this season, there are 45 (+ cup games) left to go, 8-9 months of action

Do you really think it makes sense that he joins Derby right this minute and potentially has a continuous 68 game, 14 month season at the age of 33/34 or do you want to rethink your position? ? ?

if players are out of contract can they not train with another team? wondering if wazza can train with us before January when his time at DC ends mid October November, would be nice to get him up to speed for January.

Yeah no reason he can't ! In theory you can train with who you like .

He can. Anyone can train with anyone at any time.

So I'd expect him to join up with us well before January. Would then be able to be registered to the playing squad on Jan 1st, and play any games after that.

Probably the first fixture after the New Years Day game; so away to.... ?

But after he has played the whole season there he has 2 months then another 30 plus game on top of what he would of played there so the total games would probably exceed 68??‍♂️?

But he'll get a 1.5-2 month break between their season ending and him starting to play with us.

Will probably rest for half a month, then join up with us for one month of training (the same timeframes as regular pre-season), ahead of his first game in early January.

Makes a lot of sense.

I’m a bit disappointed about waiting until January, because he could have an impact now. It’s just strange we’re looking to force this through when we arguably have bigger priorities, assuming they are taking a back seat? This could’ve been done next week.

Possible we're forcing it through on DC United's behalf, so they can get the replacement in before their window shuts in a couple of days; being certain that Rooney has a deal to move elsewhere.

They have wage caps and stuff over there so knowing a players moving for certain and when is important to completion of their business.

That made sense until he won't be joining til January. Don't need to force it through as they don't need a replacement til next season.
